Avatar m tn Sorry to hear that you have the problem of erectile dysfunction and especially after being treated for the priapism. That must have been very painful for you. I am not a doctor, but I would suggest you make an appointment to see your doctor or a different one or even consider referral to a urologist if your doctor feels this may be helpful. The injection that you were given (papaverine) is used to relax and open the blood vessels.

Avatar m tn Hi, I am surprised at such a young age you have got the problem of erectile dysfunction. You should consult a urologist only and you’ll need to undergo tests to look for the cause of the same. It could be due to diabetes, hypertension, any neurological problem and this need to be ruled out. However, one of the commonest causes at this age is psychological in nature and you may need a psychological counselling for the same. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
Avatar m tn Based on what you have described you have hypertension, erectile dysfunction, and mild left ventricular hypertrophy on both your electrocardiogram and echocardiogram. It is essential that you control your hypertension as best as you can to prevent further progression of LVH. LVH refers to the thickening of the heart muscle as a response to high blood pressure. Avatar m tn Anxiety and stress play an important role in the development of erectile dysfunction; and is the most common possible cause. At a primary level, I would suggest being a bit relaxed and working on the psychological factors. You could also see a psychotherapist/ behavioral therapist for the same. It might also be beneficial to get rid of factors like smoking/ alcohol/ drugs, if involved.
Avatar m tn It could be a number of things, depending on your age, health, nutrition, etc. For example, diabetes can have an effect on erections, as can many medications. Psychological reasons are also very, very common: it may be that you’re feeling stressed about things unrelated to sex, it may be that you feel “performance anxiety,” etc. Or you could be feeling physically uncomfortable.
