Avatar f tn That is impossible on an airplane. has anybody out there experienced it and done anything about it. I do not have a heart condition, or thrombosis. My blood pressure is normally a little below the norm. The limited oxygen in the plane further lowers my pressure, but what can I do to prevent the fainting spells? After I come to I have a vomiting spell that lasts for hours. When I finally get to sleep on a bed, I sleep for hours and then wake up feeling perfectly ok.
Avatar n tn Hello I have severe reactions from insect stings especially bee stings. Its so bad that 1 or 2 stings will put me into anaphylactic shock. I have over 5000+ PVC's a day and the docs say it is a supposed benign condition. (which I do not believe). My wife has never had a pvc or palpitations. Anyways, I have to carry around a epipen everywhere I go. Last year I was working in my back yard and was stung twice, once in the face under the eye and once in my arm.
Avatar f tn t been on a plane post op, but was on one prior...and no issues on my ride there, but coming home I was having sinus issues and teh landings were brutal..... I am sure u will be fine...
1639028 tn?1300617084 hi, yes i already have an epipen to use when i suffer from an attack, throughout the past 2 years ever since i started getting the attacks i have suffered from about 12-14 anaphylactic attacks and going thrugh every possible test there is to find out whats causing it and still the doctors and immunologists still can't find a cause.
Avatar n tn Hi, welcome to the forum, as such epipen are not available yet. Epipen delivers a measured dose of epinephrine (also known as adrenaline) using autoinjector technology, most frequently for the treatment of acute allergic reactions to avoid or treat the onset of anaphylactic shock. In certain cases it can be used to stop local bleeding. Alternatively, the same drug can be given by the local health care provider or you need to go to emergency department.
Avatar n tn Hi, This has happened to me 4 or 5 times... you may have "vasovagal syncope" (situational fainting) and it's likely related to the low oxygen on the airplane... I usually get it after I've fallen asleep for a few minutes, on the way up (I've not gotten it on descent)-- you breathe more shallow when you sleep, so get even less oxygen (and it's low on airplanes to begin with). I wake up feeling sick, get up, and pass out near the bathroom (never usually actually sick).
645800 tn?1466860955 I am very allergic to bee and wasp stings to the point that I can die from a sting within about 1/2 hour or so. As a result I am suppose to carry an EpiPen with me at all times ( especially since there are a lot of wasps and bees around my home ). But despite this the couple of times I have been stung I have never been able to give myself the much needed shot. And to make matter worse I always have 2 reactions to each sting.
Avatar f tn i'm supposed to be getting on my first airplane in 4 days. i suffer from anxiety, panic attacks and i'm ocd. i guess you could also say i'm quite the hypochondriac. i'm always terrified something bad is going to happen to me, especially when i'm far away from home. i've been reading up on ways to calm anxiety, especially while on airplanes, but most of what i read involved medication, like xanax, or drinking to take the edge off. i don't do either.
Avatar n tn Thus, even if you follow all the rules, if you have got airsick before, the mere fact you are on an airplane can precipitate another event. The good thing is, after time, conditioned responses eventually disappear.
Avatar n tn I was rushed to emergency, given benedryl and sent home 4 hours later. I got an Epipen for I was told, although rare, that I could have a secondary reaction within the next week. Sure enough November 5 I had a second reaction (bi-phasic reaction). I was given the epipen by my mother for I passed out and couldn't give it myself. Back to the hospital.
630466 tn?1222379798 Hi, I have to go on an airplane for a few hours, to my destination and back. I don't know if I'm pregnant, I doubt it=( But if I am, will the pressure cause a miscarriage?
Avatar f tn But I was wondering if anyone did have an experience like this and had to use an epipen. Or if you have any information on urticaria pigmentosa? ( I know alot about it but I always would like to know more. Please share any information you may have or experiences you incountered.
Avatar f tn It sounds like you have ingested or been exposed to something that is an allergen (to you). You may need an Epipen if it becomes more severe but in the meantime see a physician and buy some Benadryl.
Avatar f tn I have noticed a garlic smell on my hands in the last few weeks, I take levothyroxin for thyroid condition, the only medication I take. I recently am having allergic reactions to food. My dr. has prescribed a epipen to use in case of emergency, since I had a bad reaction to something which we haven't pinpointed as of yet about 10 days ago. I am beside myself trying to figure out what I am allergic to and why I'm suffering from so many different reactions to my system.
Avatar f tn my partner had brain surgery about 2 weeks ago would it be safe for him to travel on an airoplain????
Avatar m tn For one, most people have trouble with their ears when in an airplane. The pressure difference has an effect on anybody. For another, if you have a sore throat and swollen lymph nodes, you MUST try to see a doctor. Try to keep your mind open, and don't try to diagnose yourself. Only a doctor can diagnose and treat an illness. Lots of juice, clear liquids, and try to avoid caffeine and sugary things. Vitamin C is important.
Avatar f tn Yes, I take Rebif as well and I don't have any injection site problems. I just started 3 weeks ago though. But I take it at night right before I go to sleep. If I do it during the day, I get realllllllly sleepy. Hope everything turns out ok!
Avatar n tn Will riding on an airplane for 12 hours have any affect on my two retinal hemorrhages?
230262 tn?1316645934 They have both been stung multiple times over the last few years but never have they had an allergic reaction.....UNTIL NOW. My 7 year old only got stung once , on the finger, Monday nite. Well, its still swollen and red, across his knuckles/ next finger over. I delineated it with a marker to make sure its not spreading farther...which its not...but its also not receeding any either. He has no systemic symptoms, just local reaction/ pain/itching/burning/redness. I am taking him to the doctors.
