Epipen medical form

Common Questions and Answers about Epipen medical form

epipen

Avatar n tn Between the two maintaining your airway is the priority to any EMS or other medical professional, if it was me, I would not hesitate to use an epipen. It takes effect fast and it's effects wear off just as fast, long enough for a dose benadryl or a longer acting antihistamine or steroid... Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn m also allergic to several medications (antibiotics) and my doctor said I might need an epipen when I take them to keep me alive until I get to a hospital. Just about all antibiotics close my throat. But I thought epipens contained epiphenephrine, and was told by a friend that it's bad for those with a heart arrhythmia. Has anyone here with PVCs had to use an epipen for an anaphlactic shock reaction, and if so, was it safe for the heart? Thanks.
Avatar f tn I have carried an epipen for the last 11 years for my son and Thank God we have not had to use it. But I was wondering if anyone did have an experience like this and had to use an epipen. Or if you have any information on urticaria pigmentosa? ( I know alot about it but I always would like to know more. Please share any information you may have or experiences you incountered.

645800 tn?1466860955 I am very allergic to bee and wasp stings to the point that I can die from a sting within about 1/2 hour or so. As a result I am suppose to carry an EpiPen with me at all times ( especially since there are a lot of wasps and bees around my home ). But despite this the couple of times I have been stung I have never been able to give myself the much needed shot. And to make matter worse I always have 2 reactions to each sting.
Avatar f tn a whole body reaction like that sounds a lot like a food allergy. and your reactions sound pretty serious. just as a warning, these type of allergies can cause more severe reactions the more you are exposed, so next time it happens it could be much worse. I would go to a doctor and get an epipen (spelling?). hopefully you will never need it, but it might save your life.
Avatar n tn Hi, welcome to the forum, as such epipen are not available yet. Epipen delivers a measured dose of epinephrine (also known as adrenaline) using autoinjector technology, most frequently for the treatment of acute allergic reactions to avoid or treat the onset of anaphylactic shock. In certain cases it can be used to stop local bleeding. Alternatively, the same drug can be given by the local health care provider or you need to go to emergency department.
Avatar f tn The other day my friend had a major asthma attack that almost sent him to the ER-- he thankfully had an epipen nearby. He thinks what triggered it was a laxative (sennosides in pill form) he took a couple of hours before. Is this even possible? And if so, should he be avoiding all things laxative? I wouldn't be asking these questions here, but he is too stubborn to go to a doctor like he should.
Avatar n tn So sorry to be late in responding- how are the bumps doing today? I wouldn't take an epi-pen for that, as long as you are freely breathing and it's just the rash you are seeing. It's very difficult to say for sure if this is an allergic reaction without a doctor being able to look at the issue and have a bit more of your medical history. If you have an epi-pen, I'd imagine you do have a known allergy issue with something?
Avatar n tn If you consume dairy product in any form,it will cause allergies and sometimes life threatening anaphylaxis. Symptoms of allergy includes rashes, hives, intense itching, difficulty in breathing and swallowing etc. Pls do not consume any form of dairy product. In addition to the avoidance of allergen in your diet, you can take some OTC antihistaminics like benadryl or Claritin. They can relieve the symptoms. If your symptoms do not improve then pls consult an allergy specialist.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever paid for the medical records and sent it to the new office and not get approved by them?
Avatar m tn Adhesions or scar tissue typically begin to form within the first few days after surgery, but they may not produce symptoms for months or even years. If these "bumps" are new they may not be related to adhesions. It is not unheard that you may require more repair. As you know the hernia was a tear or separation of your muscles. There are many possibilities and I cannot tell you with any certainty what may be going on. It is important that you have a good clinical examination.
Avatar n tn I really try not to use this form for anything otherthan medical questions or support. This is my second pregnancy and I have used this app a lot through both pregnancies. Thanks to my questions being answered and experiencing one pregnancy and labor I feel like I should answer all the questions I know (or feel like I know) the answers to. And I always answer to the best of my abilities, or at least offer some support.
Avatar n tn I was rushed to emergency, given benedryl and sent home 4 hours later. I got an Epipen for I was told, although rare, that I could have a secondary reaction within the next week. Sure enough November 5 I had a second reaction (bi-phasic reaction). I was given the epipen by my mother for I passed out and couldn't give it myself. Back to the hospital.
Avatar f tn You may need an Epipen if it becomes more severe but in the meantime see a physician and buy some Benadryl.
5284406 tn?1365979657 I had signed a consent form but there was no information regarding the stent. When I was about to sign it, I recapped with the nurse who brought it to me and said exactly word for word the following: The urologist will put a scope thru my penis, go up until they find the stone, laser it and remove what they can and I will pass the rest as normal and nothing else will be done. The nurse said yes, thats all they will be doing to me. Then I signed.
9552239 tn?1404989880 What are you allergic to ? I see on your status you say you have a new epipen and medical bracelet. I have a medical bracelet too. I am sorry to hear that you had an anaphylactic reaction. That must have been so scary. I have allergies too and I have asthma. I wish I could tell you when you feel better and feel normal again. You said you had the severe reaction over a week ago. Glad to hear that you are feeling quite a bit better.
Avatar f tn Yes, I take Rebif as well and I don't have any injection site problems. I just started 3 weeks ago though. But I take it at night right before I go to sleep. If I do it during the day, I get realllllllly sleepy. Hope everything turns out ok!
Avatar n tn The transdermal patch provides pain relief to a certain universe of sciatic patients, but should not be used more than 12 hours at a time. Exercise of any form is contraindicated without consult with a physical rehab therapist. Hot compresses are often presribed, but this is also inappropriate, as the heat causes swelling and further nerve compression. An x-ray is not an appropriate form of modern diagnosis. An MRI of the lumbar region L1-L5 is in order.
Avatar n tn Lichen planus is an inflammatory disease that affects the skin and the oral mucosa, and presents itself in the form of papules(flat spots) or rashes.Treatment is available only on prescription and consists mainly of steroids, retinoids, hydroquinone and phototherapy. Also sometimes the trigger may be an allergen and in that case, you'll be advised to avoid the allergen, and you may consult an allergist.
931175 tn?1244457804 It's always wise to rule out any medical concerns either causing the difficulty of keeping down an average sized meal or medical complications of vomiting (i.e., low potassium, acid reflex, stomach problems, tear in esophagus, etc.) In addtition, stress, anxiety and depression could make it difficult to take in much food. In individuals with anorexia, these emotions can be shut down by eating less and less. They also could make it difficult to eat.
