I am not physically restricted - I walk 1 mile or more day and do 10 minutes of other light exercises most days. My BP runs under 120/80 most of the time. I understand carvedilol helps prevent stiffening of the heart muscle and can help restore LV function to some degree. How specially, so it do this? What is the biochemical mechanism?

m also allergic to several medications (antibiotics) and my doctor said I might need an epipen when I take them to keep me alive until I get to a hospital. Just about all antibiotics close my throat. But I thought epipens contained epiphenephrine, and was told by a friend that it's bad for those with a heart arrhythmia. Has anyone here with PVCs had to use an epipen for an anaphlactic shock reaction, and if so, was it safe for the heart? Thanks.
This weekend was horrible, I had two reaction to the water, on friday it was with rain, and had to give me 2 shoots of Epipen, and than I was better but shaking badly from the Epipen, and yesturday just by sweat I did a reaction and again the Epipen but just once, and I didnt even went to the hospital after, his that dangerous if I dont go???? And his it dangerous I have to many shoots?????
m told my heart is okay despite the many PVCs each day, and I have a hard time believing it too.) I also wondered whether use of the epipen could cause permanent changes in the kind of PVCs a person has, and now I feel better about that too.
I have a friend who says she uses Benadryl for her allergies to ants and bees rather than an epipen because of the cost. I don't think I'd feel safe doing that, though.

Epipen delivers a measured dose of epinephrine (also known as adrenaline) using autoinjector technology, most frequently for the treatment of acute allergic reactions to avoid or treat the onset of anaphylactic shock. In certain cases it can be used to stop local bleeding.
Alternatively, the same drug can be given by the local health care provider or you need to go to emergency department.

Does Parnate exacerbate your anxiety problem? I would think it does from its mechanism of action since norepinephrine (aka noradrenaline just like adrenaline) can cause fight-and-flight response such as tachycardia and anxiety. Effexor XR which works on the norepinephrine and serotonin levels gave me such tachycardiac and anxious side effects at higher doses that I had to take a beta-blocker like atenolol to decrease the heart rate and Abilify to minimize the anxiety problem.
