Common Questions and Answers about Epipen ingredients

epipen

Avatar m tn He told me to try to track down all the ingredients of everything else I ate. The only other unusual foods I ate that night were green onions and chives. I eat other onions and garlic all the time and never had a reaction. I now carry an epipen but would really like to track down the food that caused me to go into shock. Has anyone had such a reaction to chives or green onions without being allergic to other foods in that family? Thanks for any help you can give me.
Avatar n tn m also allergic to several medications (antibiotics) and my doctor said I might need an epipen when I take them to keep me alive until I get to a hospital. Just about all antibiotics close my throat. But I thought epipens contained epiphenephrine, and was told by a friend that it's bad for those with a heart arrhythmia. Has anyone here with PVCs had to use an epipen for an anaphlactic shock reaction, and if so, was it safe for the heart? Thanks.

And his it dangerous I have to many shoots?????
Avatar n tn Hello I have severe reactions from insect stings especially bee stings. Its so bad that 1 or 2 stings will put me into anaphylactic shock. I have over 5000+ PVC's a day and the docs say it is a supposed benign condition. (which I do not believe). My wife has never had a pvc or palpitations. Anyways, I have to carry around a epipen everywhere I go. Last year I was working in my back yard and was stung twice, once in the face under the eye and once in my arm.
Avatar n tn No facial numbness but extreme dizziness and breathing difficulty. I have an epipen but have never used it. Does anyone know of a common allergy to food additives or preservatives. I have to eat out a good bit for my business and am getting very nervous about eating in restaurants. How can I narrow down what is causing these problems?
Avatar f tn He should also avoid all the foods containing the ingredients to which he is allergic. He should also carry an epipen with him. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted.
Avatar f tn I fixed a frozen dinner that I had never had before, but all of the ingredients I have had. Anyway, soon after we ate I had this burning/tingling sensation on my bottom lip. It wasn't bad so I just ignored it. The next day it was still there, but again, not bad. That afternoon, after I got off of work, I noticed it had become rather swollen and tender. So I went and picked up some carmex, smothered it on ad forgot about it.
Avatar n tn I'm having the following symptoms whenever I ingest certain types of food: the inside of my mouth (cheeks/tongue) swells and it's painful to swallow. It started out happening everytime I ate something with mayonnaise. But I just recently had a reaction within 35 minutes after eating Lay's salt & vinegar potato chips and on another occasion, I haven't been able to pinpoint the food source.
Avatar n tn Hi, welcome to the forum, as such epipen are not available yet. Epipen delivers a measured dose of epinephrine (also known as adrenaline) using autoinjector technology, most frequently for the treatment of acute allergic reactions to avoid or treat the onset of anaphylactic shock. In certain cases it can be used to stop local bleeding. Alternatively, the same drug can be given by the local health care provider or you need to go to emergency department.
Avatar f tn Regarding the allergic reaction to alcohol,it is usually not the alcohol that produces the allergic reaction to the wine or beer. The other ingredients in the alcohol, such as yeast, sulfur dioxide, and additives are often the culprits. Beer may contain a variety of ingredients, including barley, corn, wheat, and rye that may precipitate an allergic reaction. Since the allergens have not been identified in your case,so I would advise you to get allergy testing done.
Avatar m tn You need to go for an allergy testing for the ingredients of the beverage you take to know what you are allergic to. Also possibility of fatty liver and other liver afflictions should be considered as improper metabolism of alcohol too can cause problems. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. You will also need a sea food challenge test to rule out sea food poisoning.

645800 tn?1466860955 I am very allergic to bee and wasp stings to the point that I can die from a sting within about 1/2 hour or so. As a result I am suppose to carry an EpiPen with me at all times ( especially since there are a lot of wasps and bees around my home ). But despite this the couple of times I have been stung I have never been able to give myself the much needed shot. And to make matter worse I always have 2 reactions to each sting.
Avatar n tn I was rushed to emergency, given benedryl and sent home 4 hours later. I got an Epipen for I was told, although rare, that I could have a secondary reaction within the next week. Sure enough November 5 I had a second reaction (bi-phasic reaction). I was given the epipen by my mother for I passed out and couldn't give it myself. Back to the hospital.
Avatar f tn You may need an Epipen if it becomes more severe but in the meantime see a physician and buy some Benadryl.
Avatar f tn I have carried an epipen for the last 11 years for my son and Thank God we have not had to use it. But I was wondering if anyone did have an experience like this and had to use an epipen. Or if you have any information on urticaria pigmentosa? ( I know alot about it but I always would like to know more. Please share any information you may have or experiences you incountered.
Avatar f tn Yes, I take Rebif as well and I don't have any injection site problems. I just started 3 weeks ago though. But I take it at night right before I go to sleep. If I do it during the day, I get realllllllly sleepy. Hope everything turns out ok!

That day I was rushed back into the er and bum rushed by 5 different nurses and a doctor, one nurse asking me which arm I want the epipen in? I am like Idc I can't breath stab me! ) I almost died that day, and now I have been having panic attacks almost every other day.
645800 tn?1466860955 With the talk of EpiPen in Michelle's post earlier today it got me thinking about my problem with needles and other self infecting skin damage devices. I am hoping that maybe someone will have some ideas or at least where to look for help with this. My problem isn't the normal fear of needles. I can get shot or blood drawn with no problems. Well except I have to be able to watch what is going on.If I can't see it happening I will pass out.
Avatar f tn As I understand, you have not consumed peanut butter and chocolate ice cream in the last one year. So it’s possible the company has introduced some new ingredients in them in the last year that have not suited you. If you are familiar with the ingredients, then maybe you can identify what’s new in them. In answer to how you can go about diagnosing food allergy, I would suggest you read http://www.ifr.ac.uk/Protall/diagnosis.
1201433 tn?1328997637 have you tried pesasys epipen and riba they say the effect i have not tried any meds yet but i am asking for the epipen
Avatar m tn For a couple of years I started having this reaction to mangoes, where my lips burn and start to get crusty, and it has developed to that, my mouth gets itchy and dry, and my throat becomes raw. My aunt who used to be a RN gave me something called aclivor (both a pill and some kind of paste for my lips) which seemed to work for the first event. But lately, I've been running out of the paste and the only place I can find aclivor is on online pharmacies from Mexico.
