Epipen in carry on luggage

Common Questions and Answers about Epipen in carry on luggage

epipen

Avatar n tn Anyways, I have to carry around a epipen everywhere I go. Last year I was working in my back yard and was stung twice, once in the face under the eye and once in my arm. I was swollen within seconds and was confused and turned pale. I stuck myself with the epipen and called the ambulance. I was in the hospital for two days while they worked on me. The doctor said the epipen saved my life.
Avatar f tn This is fine Lynn but the only problem I see is your bag getting separated from you!! I'd take it in my carry on bag. Why did you put it in a mouth wash bottle? Doesn't it come in something labeled? Labeled meds are never a problem and I've alaways traveled with meds and jewelry in my carry on bag. As long as the liquid doesn't go over the alloted amt. and I don't remember what that is...4 oz??...it's fine. Good luck to you honey! I hope this works!
Avatar n tn I've heard that as well, but if your throat is closing, would there be another option? I would think the benefit of the epi-pen by stopping airway constriction would outweigh the risks of the epi-pen causing problems from the PVC's. I am certainly no medical expert and just happened upon your post and thought I would chime in, but I would definitely see my dr. ASAP to get this all straightened out..
605877 tn?1301700646 I would stongly recomend keeping meds in your carry on, make sure they are in origional bottle with your name on it. Put all your meds in a zip-lock or similar see through bag, Most customs only allow small bottles of liquids, so please check with your airport if you take liquids, People steal meds when given the chance, thats why I said to put in carry on, then you wont have to worry about temp.
Avatar f tn I too am on tons of meds and have put them in my carry-on—always a must in case the airline loses your luggage! (That happened to me once and the results were not pretty.) I've never carried the actual bottles with me, though—I use a 7-day pill case like a senior citizen, ha. But it's totally worth getting one because that way a) the security people have no idea which of your meds are controlled, and b) you can tell your family most of the pills are vitamins or whatever.
Avatar f tn Also, remember if you have a travel leg on a little plane, and you are using carry on luggage, they may have you check those bags at the gate and store them in the belly of the plane. Best bet is to put that travel kit of copaxone in your purse/satchel and keep it with you at all times. Don't forget that copaxone can't be exposed to extreme heat, either. when you get to your destination, do not leave the copaxone in the car if it is hot.
661638 tn?1249689331 Like Runningmom mentioned, make sure that they are in their original containers and in a carry-on bag. Do not put them in your luggage that will be stored. There is theft all the time in those bags. Not to mention getting lost in flight like ending up in another part of the country. Be at ease and enjoy your trip. I will be doing just that very soon. Please take care.
Avatar f tn In Australia, I think you can carry personal supply of 3 month medication, just declare it to customs. You can also import your medication. Whatever restrictions they have are just to prevent import for retail but not for personal use.
Avatar f tn I've taken a lot of prescription meds through security in carry on luggage and never had an issue. (At times I've been on 5 or more prescriptions at a time.) Sometimes I would put my prescriptions in a plastic bag and remove it before going through the scanners (similar to what you do with liquids in carry ons) but this is unnecessary. I never was asked to explain what my medications were for. However, in my case, none of the meds were controlled.
645800 tn?1466860955 In the interim you need to have something like Medic Alert who could not only notify the paramedics, but could possibly notify someone around you who could come to your aid. You should teach everyone in your family how to use the EpiPen and all your close (in proximity and other) friends. There are also personal alarms that will sound shrilly if activated. That could alert family and neighbors.
Avatar f tn Please don't be a dummy like me.
Avatar f tn Hi, I've been anaphylaxic to tree nuts since I was a kid so have always avoided any kind of nut. Now recently I had a skin ***** test and tested 4+ to all except almonds which I didn't even get a reaction to(!!)...but pine nuts were not included. I was wondering if pine nuts/cedar nuts are included in a tree nut family? Or are they like coconut and other named nuts that aren't actually nuts (doughnuts?) ;) Thank you!
1299624 tn?1332803936 Also, you know not to carry your own luggage, right?? You could probably get away with pulling a small carry-on with wheels, but don't try to lift it out of the car, or into the carry-on bin! You'll be around 4 weeks post-op by then, so you should be healing pretty well. But since it's a long ride, you might bring your "coughing pillow" with you since you'll be riding with your seatbelt fastened. Could give you some extra cushioning on the incision.
230262 tn?1316645934 I am taking him to the doctors. His regular dr. is not in (on vacation) and soonest they can seee him is tomorrow! However i found out the free clinic i went to months ago, is still operating, and will be open tonight only. So i am taking him there this evening to be evaluated. See if he need some steroids, and also if he will need an epi pen for future use in case his reaction gets systemic next time or if he gets stung in the throat/mouth/airway region. Man, this suckks!
Avatar m tn I went out last night and was having a good time, I normally carry an epipen for my anaphylactic allergies but haven't had allergies for two years, I'm only Allergic to latex and bananas. I poured my own drinks because we had bottle service but then had to make a quick call so I handed my drink to one of my girlfriends and went outside, when I came back she had gone to the bathroom and had left my drink on the table I didn't think much of it and continued to drink my drink.
Avatar f tn It should only be used in case of life threatening allergic reaction. Epipen is known to be associated with shaking esp. when the larger doses are taken. You should not take more than recommended dose; otherwise you may land up in complication. This is due to stimulation of the muscles. Hence, epipen should be better used under doctor's observation. If you are allergic to water following measures will help you- - Stay away from water as long as possible. - Avoid going in rain outside.
Avatar f tn there is a pain like stress or pressure when I bend down, I just feel like any heavy luggage in the centre of my chest. kindly please tell me is this any gestric issue, heart issue or muscular pain.
Avatar f tn Definitely talk to your doctor in the morning. I have anaphylaxis when stung by bees. They told me to carry my epipen (shot) & take it, then go to the hospital if I got stung. They told me to do what I normally do, but get monitored. They may want you to come in since your immune system is low, due to being pregnant & the reaction could be worse or cause a fever.
Avatar m tn I now carry an epipen but would really like to track down the food that caused me to go into shock. Has anyone had such a reaction to chives or green onions without being allergic to other foods in that family? Thanks for any help you can give me.
495284 tn?1333894042 I don't carry a purse..in my pockets now...wallet, personal cell phone, work cell phone, cigarettes, lighter (unless kids stole during the night) receipts from last night's grocery shopping, keys...empty cough drop wrappers, frog, bugs, worms, (just kidding)...sometimes a couple of treats for Bear which the pharmacy is always giving us.. I love summer because I don't wear a coat...if I'm wearing a coat I carry twice as much as I possibly can. Oh yeah..
Avatar n tn s diarrhea (azythromycin and ciprofloxacin are commonly prescribed along with immodium). Always carry your prescription medications in your carry-on luggage (in the event that you become separated from your luggage). Yellow Fever (Required for travelers arriving from a yellow-fever-infected area in Africa or the Americas.) http://wwwn.cdc.gov/travel/yellowBookCh4-YellowFever.aspx; see list of countries below. There is very little to now risk of malaria in Egypt.
Avatar n tn I noticed a bump on my sons head and I took him in to see his pediatrician, she said she didnt know what it was and got another doctor, the other doctor said it looked like a carry on.( Im not sure if that is spelled correctly) But she only glanced at it for like two seconds and Im not sure what a carry on is and I am not confident about her answer. My baby is two months old and this hard bonelike bump the size of the top of a tumb showed up from one day to the next right behind his soft spot.
Avatar n tn Is Epipen available in India? If not, what is the alternative emergency treatment for anaphylactic shock commonly used?
Avatar n tn Last September I developed hives, my GP felt it was an allergy but since then I have had 3 anyphalactic shock episodes where I have had to be hospitalised, I now carry an Epipen. I have just seen a dermatologist who changed my antihistamine presciption, and who told me the hives could be linked to my thyroid condition and has taken blood to test for C3, C4, haemoglobins, electrophoresis, full blood count and ESR. Can you explain the link please between hypothyroid and allergic reactions?
Avatar f tn You may need an Epipen if it becomes more severe but in the meantime see a physician and buy some Benadryl.
Avatar m tn Hello, im currently out of the USA on a world trip and have been having chronic leg pain due to my lifting my heavy luggage. i normally lift it on my left side. So when i walk around my backside or buttocks area hurts dead center left side, my lower back of my calf muscle hurts and the outside of my ankle hurts. Its been hurting a few months now, even when im not lifting anything, just walking sitting or riding my bicycle.
Avatar f tn I'm a healthy 24 year old female from Ohio.. have had all kinds of indoor and outdoor allergies since childhood, but around age 21, I developed several food allergies. mainly tree nuts, some beans, and fruit. I recently was retested to see if any of them went away, and it has only gotten severely worse! longer list of nuts, fruits, beans... it's beginning to seem the list of things I CAN eat is shorter than the list of things I CAN'T eat.
