Epipen for asthma attack

Common Questions and Answers about Epipen for asthma attack

epipen

Avatar n tn Is Epipen available in India? If not, what is the alternative emergency treatment for anaphylactic shock commonly used?
Avatar n tn I have some serious allergies and often they close my throat. I live 20 minutes from the nearest doctor or hospital. Until recently I always felt safe because I could use an epipen and that would give me time to get help. But now I have been diagnosed with about 8000 PVCs a day, and was told by another sufferer that I shouldn't use an epipen anymore, that it's not a good idea for those with PVCs.
Avatar f tn Then the reaction continues to numbness in my face and tongue, itchy throat, and then finally goes into an asthma attack. My doctor thought it was food, so I have been on a liquid diet but the reactions still occur. I take allegra with zantac, singular, and do breathing treatments throughout the day yet the attacks still come. They can last up to 2.5 hours. A few attacks resulted in an epi pen and hospital visit. Please help.........any ideas?

9552239 tn?1404989880 Hi Eve, Thanks for your message, sorry to hear about your allergies and it must be awful to have asthma. I had severe hay fever as a child and had an allergy test as a teenager - the result was allergies to pollen, grass, dust, mould and cats. I managed all that with anti-histamines and just tried to avoid triggers as much as possible - never thought too much about it.
Avatar n tn I was rushed to emergency, given benedryl and sent home 4 hours later. I got an Epipen for I was told, although rare, that I could have a secondary reaction within the next week. Sure enough November 5 I had a second reaction (bi-phasic reaction). I was given the epipen by my mother for I passed out and couldn't give it myself. Back to the hospital.
Avatar f tn So I was singing today and I stayed having an asthma attack.....luckily my brother had his pump and I had to take 2 puffs in order to breath again. Will that harm my baby?
453255 tn?1205792176 Yes, the medications I take for my allergies and asthma daily are: allegra (24 hour), singulair, alvesco, oxeeze, rhinocort, sometimes ventolin, and sometimes benedril.
Avatar f tn I have Idiopathic Subglottic Stenosis and the first time I was checked for asthma it had not developed enough for it to register clearly on the Pulmonary Function Test .So my Dr. refused to let me be tested a second time even though as the years went by I steadily got worse. Then a new doctor let me have a second test and my trachea was narrowed to 3mm the size of a drinking straw.
Avatar f tn If your sister's asthma is under good control, there really isn't much reason for her NOT to be able to dance. Exercise is good for everyone, and that includes those with asthma. One thing your sister could do to help reduce the risk of an attack while dancing is to use her inhaler 20-30 minutes before she starts dancing.
Avatar n tn When i went to the allery dr, they did some breathing test to test me for asthma, which came back negative. He also told me that he didn't feel like i had asthma. As far as any other allergy test, i didnt get those done because i am on a beta blocker to keep my heartrate slow. He said if i were to have a bad reaction to something and they used an epipen then that would stop the purpose of the beta blocker.
Avatar f tn im a 19 yr old girl. recently had a moderate asthma attack (bad chest tightness cough etc) that was very very scary. i took my inhaler then went to sleep. i got diagnosed with mild persistent asthma which they originally said was moderate. i was given qvar preventative inhaler & i am using it one puff at 10 am and one puff at 10 pm. however i also have panic disorder and i am extremely scared feeling like i am destined to die from a severe asthma attack.
Avatar f tn My name is Holley. I have had an inhaler for over a year now. I am in band and we do parades and marching competitions. In the parades each line has a leader how tells you when you are not in line or out of step and my line has two. when ever one tells me to move forward the other tells me the opposite then I get stressed and have what I thought was an asthma attack, Before competitions I will also have an "asthma attack".
Avatar f tn s strange since I had eaten the same crackers earlier in the day and had no reaction. I went to the ER and they only treated me for asthma, I had taken two benadryls at home., Again diahrea the day after which lingered a bit, I've noticed my skin is usually itchy and I get red patches at any given moment. I also get small hives. What can be causing these allergic reactions?
Avatar m tn I smoked marijuana once in my life. It was in my son's house and it was the first time I visited him that I did not have an asthma attack. I can't get marijuana for asthma in my state.

Avatar f tn It is possible that your anxiety is a manifestation of recurrent asthma that can occur without typical symptoms such as wheezing. You should have a medical exam for asthma and if that is not it, you should either try to speak with a friend or talk to your doctor to get a sense of what is going on in your life that might be making you anxious. Many times it is difficult to identify a likely cause and, in either case, you might benefit greatly from medication treatment for your anxiety.
Avatar n tn Was type of fish was the test for, it's usually for shellfish which is a different allergy and does not include things like salmon.
Avatar f tn Thank you, I've already been tested, and had several different kind of prescription but nothing helped. I've also been tested for asthma and had multiple test for my lungs and heart, everything came back normal. Every prescription that I'va had, didn't help at all.

471161 tn?1317190950 I live in Houston Texas and we just had hurricane IKE come through here. I have never had an asthma attack or been told I have any breathing problems but we had no electricity for three days and one night as we slept with the windows open I woke up in the middle of the night gasping for air. I felt like my lungs didn't want to take in any air. Is it possible to have an asthma attack brought on by sleeping with the window open or from the weather?
1693461 tn?1374511829 I know it was careless of me to go without my inhailor but I got ballsy by not showing any symptoms for a long while. I believe I did have a mild Asthma attack as it went on for more than 3 hours.
Avatar f tn Hi and thanks for using the forum. Childhood asthma is the most common chronic childhood illness. When an asthma attack occurs, the airway muscles constrict, there is swelling in the airway, and there is an increase in mucus production. This results in difficulty breathing. The key to asthma treatment is good asthma control. This can involve long term preventative medication, quick acting (rescue) medication, or a combination of both.
