Epipen for asthma

Common Questions and Answers about Epipen for asthma

epipen

Avatar n tn Is Epipen available in India? If not, what is the alternative emergency treatment for anaphylactic shock commonly used?
Avatar n tn I have some serious allergies and often they close my throat. I live 20 minutes from the nearest doctor or hospital. Until recently I always felt safe because I could use an epipen and that would give me time to get help. But now I have been diagnosed with about 8000 PVCs a day, and was told by another sufferer that I shouldn't use an epipen anymore, that it's not a good idea for those with PVCs.
453255 tn?1205792176 Yes, the medications I take for my allergies and asthma daily are: allegra (24 hour), singulair, alvesco, oxeeze, rhinocort, sometimes ventolin, and sometimes benedril.
Avatar f tn I have Idiopathic Subglottic Stenosis and the first time I was checked for asthma it had not developed enough for it to register clearly on the Pulmonary Function Test .So my Dr. refused to let me be tested a second time even though as the years went by I steadily got worse. Then a new doctor let me have a second test and my trachea was narrowed to 3mm the size of a drinking straw.
Avatar n tn When i went to the allery dr, they did some breathing test to test me for asthma, which came back negative. He also told me that he didn't feel like i had asthma. As far as any other allergy test, i didnt get those done because i am on a beta blocker to keep my heartrate slow. He said if i were to have a bad reaction to something and they used an epipen then that would stop the purpose of the beta blocker.
Avatar f tn s strange since I had eaten the same crackers earlier in the day and had no reaction. I went to the ER and they only treated me for asthma, I had taken two benadryls at home., Again diahrea the day after which lingered a bit, I've noticed my skin is usually itchy and I get red patches at any given moment. I also get small hives. What can be causing these allergic reactions?

Avatar n tn Was type of fish was the test for, it's usually for shellfish which is a different allergy and does not include things like salmon.
9552239 tn?1404989880 Hi Eve, Thanks for your message, sorry to hear about your allergies and it must be awful to have asthma. I had severe hay fever as a child and had an allergy test as a teenager - the result was allergies to pollen, grass, dust, mould and cats. I managed all that with anti-histamines and just tried to avoid triggers as much as possible - never thought too much about it.
Avatar f tn Thank you, I've already been tested, and had several different kind of prescription but nothing helped. I've also been tested for asthma and had multiple test for my lungs and heart, everything came back normal. Every prescription that I'va had, didn't help at all.
230262 tn?1316645934 d suggest you get a pediatric Epipen. Personally I keep 2 on hand. You should have 1 at school for him and one either in your purse or at home. He should have one available at all times. These allergies accelerate quickly. Check for dosage with your doctor, but you can also use benadryl for allergic reactions. I'm so sorry this happened to your children. These stings hurt horribly! And right now with school starting, you all have enough on your plate. Good luck at the clinic tonight.

Avatar f tn For pollen, dog and cat hair try taking some antihistamine like Zyrtec (works well for me). For the food allergies, you just have to avoid them. Try Googling some gluten-free recipes.
645800 tn?1466860955 I am very allergic to bee and wasp stings to the point that I can die from a sting within about 1/2 hour or so. As a result I am suppose to carry an EpiPen with me at all times ( especially since there are a lot of wasps and bees around my home ). But despite this the couple of times I have been stung I have never been able to give myself the much needed shot. And to make matter worse I always have 2 reactions to each sting.
Avatar n tn I was rushed to emergency, given benedryl and sent home 4 hours later. I got an Epipen for I was told, although rare, that I could have a secondary reaction within the next week. Sure enough November 5 I had a second reaction (bi-phasic reaction). I was given the epipen by my mother for I passed out and couldn't give it myself. Back to the hospital.
Avatar f tn Get tested for allergies. It sounds like you have ingested or been exposed to something that is an allergen (to you). You may need an Epipen if it becomes more severe but in the meantime see a physician and buy some Benadryl.
Avatar m tn I have read that Toprol is cardioselective and is ok for asthma, however, my allergy doctor thinks that with my type of asthma, I could benefit alot from immunotherapy allergy shots. There is nothing wrong with my heart other than what I have mentioned. Allergy shots while taking a betablocker scares me and most everything I read says it shouldn't be done.
Avatar f tn It started only in the injection site. But now its in other areas for ex my chest it itched so bad that I noticed a bruise, which is un normal for me.
Avatar f tn I have carried an epipen for the last 11 years for my son and Thank God we have not had to use it. But I was wondering if anyone did have an experience like this and had to use an epipen. Or if you have any information on urticaria pigmentosa? ( I know alot about it but I always would like to know more. Please share any information you may have or experiences you incountered.
Avatar f tn Since he is so sensitive to everything right now, I am so concerned about his shot of Zolair. We will stay in the doctors office for a while after he gets the shot. I am very worried he will have a reaction - even though we have a Epi Pen - is this a smart move?
20451547 tn?1498215245 I have been having panic attacks ever since early 2015 when I was first ever stang by a wasp and went into anaphylactic shock.(the er doctor said I am allergic to bees/wasps/hornets venom. That day I was rushed back into the er and bum rushed by 5 different nurses and a doctor, one nurse asking me which arm I want the epipen in? I am like Idc I can't breath stab me! ) I almost died that day, and now I have been having panic attacks almost every other day.
645800 tn?1466860955 After I was stabilized they sent me home with an RX for an EpiPen. But 4 hours later I was back in the ER with a second reaction to that bee sting that was just as bad as the first one. This time they kept me for about 8 hours just to make sure I didn't have yet another episode. You can just imagine the nightmare it was with my insurance company when the hospital billed them for 2 ER visits on the same day for the same thing.
