Epipen case for kids

Common Questions and Answers about Epipen case for kids

epipen

Avatar n tn I have some serious allergies and often they close my throat. I live 20 minutes from the nearest doctor or hospital. Until recently I always felt safe because I could use an epipen and that would give me time to get help. But now I have been diagnosed with about 8000 PVCs a day, and was told by another sufferer that I shouldn't use an epipen anymore, that it's not a good idea for those with PVCs.
Avatar f tn It should only be used in case of life threatening allergic reaction. Epipen is known to be associated with shaking esp. when the larger doses are taken. You should not take more than recommended dose; otherwise you may land up in complication. This is due to stimulation of the muscles. Hence, epipen should be better used under doctor's observation. If you are allergic to water following measures will help you- - Stay away from water as long as possible. - Avoid going in rain outside.
Avatar n tn Is Epipen available in India? If not, what is the alternative emergency treatment for anaphylactic shock commonly used?
Avatar n tn The other points are other allergies that I have, mostly pollen) I was prescribed an epipen and told to have it with me at all times just in case some fish got accidentally into my food despite having explained the reason for taking the test in the first place. I then requested to test for various kinds of fish but the test results showed that I was allergic to all fish.
230262 tn?1316645934 See if he need some steroids, and also if he will need an epi pen for future use in case his reaction gets systemic next time or if he gets stung in the throat/mouth/airway region. Man, this suckks! no one on either side of the family is allergic to bees, so i thought he would be OK too, especially since about 2 summers ago he got stung by a whole nest of yellow jackets and he had no reaction.
Avatar n tn If she is not allergic to all triazole antifungals, it should be safe... She could take it but have her epipen in close range, just in case, and maybe take it while a doctor is present, just in case. To be on the safe side, switch to another imidazole or thiazole antifungal instead.
Avatar f tn So my kids will stay with friends if he comes earlier.. Did any of you with older kids pack overnight bags for them in advance or just wing it when/if it became necessary?

Avatar m tn Nicotine is a vasoconstricter, meaning it makes it harder to pump blood through microcirculation. Furthermore there is no antidote. Nicotine is is absolutely contraindicated. You have a potentially life-threatening problem that cannot be solved by home remedies. You do not know when the situation may deteriorate into what is called a "locked-lung" resulting in death. The fact you have observed the symtoms progressively get worse over a period of time disturbs me.
Avatar f tn The other day my friend had a major asthma attack that almost sent him to the ER-- he thankfully had an epipen nearby. He thinks what triggered it was a laxative (sennosides in pill form) he took a couple of hours before. Is this even possible? And if so, should he be avoiding all things laxative? I wouldn't be asking these questions here, but he is too stubborn to go to a doctor like he should.
Avatar f tn This has always controlled the swelling for me, but in my case I have eaten something that I am allergic to and the reaction starts in the throat. For you, the throat swelling seems to be part of a systemic reaction. In any case the liquid Benadryl is worth a try.
1201433 tn?1328997637 Whatever you do whether you decide to treat yet or not make sure you WATCH and wait ... don't just do the wait part. At stage 2 you still have some wiggle room time to decide what is best. Do you have a good support group around you of family and friends? Good insurance? Time off if you need it? There are lots of things to consider. Myself I was geno1A and 1B both and already stage 3 so I didn't think I had time to wait. Treatment is long and hard but it's doable....
Avatar f tn For pollen, dog and cat hair try taking some antihistamine like Zyrtec (works well for me). For the food allergies, you just have to avoid them. Try Googling some gluten-free recipes.
645800 tn?1466860955 I am very allergic to bee and wasp stings to the point that I can die from a sting within about 1/2 hour or so. As a result I am suppose to carry an EpiPen with me at all times ( especially since there are a lot of wasps and bees around my home ). But despite this the couple of times I have been stung I have never been able to give myself the much needed shot. And to make matter worse I always have 2 reactions to each sting.
Avatar f tn I have had the food allergy test done before. and nothing came back. i was on an allergy med, zertec? i think its called it can be bought in stores now. and prednizone (not the best speller) and i had an epipen and inhaler, how ever sense it is unknown what is wrong with me i am on tricare, they wont pay for something for me to have 'just in case'. Avatar n tn I was rushed to emergency, given benedryl and sent home 4 hours later. I got an Epipen for I was told, although rare, that I could have a secondary reaction within the next week. Sure enough November 5 I had a second reaction (bi-phasic reaction). I was given the epipen by my mother for I passed out and couldn't give it myself. Back to the hospital.
Avatar f tn I am severely allergic to peaches, plums, avocado, and a few other pitted fruits. I carry an epipen just in case something gets cross contaminated. She told me that I had to eat those fruits even if I didn't like them. I told her you want to see what happens to me bring me a peach but make sure an ambulance is standing by. I was so mad it's not like I don't eat any fruit. I love berries and citrus I eat bananas and apples.
Avatar f tn Get tested for allergies. It sounds like you have ingested or been exposed to something that is an allergen (to you). You may need an Epipen if it becomes more severe but in the meantime see a physician and buy some Benadryl.
Avatar f tn It started only in the injection site. But now its in other areas for ex my chest it itched so bad that I noticed a bruise, which is un normal for me.
Avatar f tn I have carried an epipen for the last 11 years for my son and Thank God we have not had to use it. But I was wondering if anyone did have an experience like this and had to use an epipen. 645800 tn?1466860955 After I was stabilized they sent me home with an RX for an EpiPen. But 4 hours later I was back in the ER with a second reaction to that bee sting that was just as bad as the first one. This time they kept me for about 8 hours just to make sure I didn't have yet another episode. You can just imagine the nightmare it was with my insurance company when the hospital billed them for 2 ER visits on the same day for the same thing.
Avatar n tn Using an EpiPen that has expired is mostly discouraged but is better than no medication in emergencies. There is no alternative to epipen in case of anaphylaxis reaction but if a mild allergic reaction is there then oral or intravenous antihistaminic and steroid can be used. Thirdly, from your symptoms it looks like you are allergic to crustaceans. Crustaceans are aquatic animals that have jointed legs, a hard shell and no backbone, such as crab, crayfish, lobster, prawns and shrimp.
Avatar f tn The endocrinologists refused to discuss any other kind of medication, and I have to stop Synthroid immediately.Sad for me, I remember how great it was for the in a long time, I was the same person as the 4 1/2 year ago.
Avatar f tn My dr. has prescribed a epipen to use in case of emergency, since I had a bad reaction to something which we haven't pinpointed as of yet about 10 days ago. I am beside myself trying to figure out what I am allergic to and why I'm suffering from so many different reactions to my system. I want to know if this garlic smell could also be a reaction to food, I have not ingested garlic at all in the last few weeks.
