epipen

Avatar n tn Hi, welcome to the forum, as such epipen are not available yet. Epipen delivers a measured dose of epinephrine (also known as adrenaline) using autoinjector technology, most frequently for the treatment of acute allergic reactions to avoid or treat the onset of anaphylactic shock. In certain cases it can be used to stop local bleeding. Alternatively, the same drug can be given by the local health care provider or you need to go to emergency department.
Avatar n tn I was swollen within seconds and was confused and turned pale. I stuck myself with the epipen and called the ambulance. I was in the hospital for two days while they worked on me. The doctor said the epipen saved my life. He also said if you have pvc's the epipen poses little threat as the allergic reaction is much more serious. When I stuck myself my heart rate shot up and i could feel the pvc's jumping.
Avatar f tn This weekend was horrible, I had two reaction to the water, on friday it was with rain, and had to give me 2 shoots of Epipen, and than I was better but shaking badly from the Epipen, and yesturday just by sweat I did a reaction and again the Epipen but just once, and I didnt even went to the hospital after, his that dangerous if I dont go???? And his it dangerous I have to many shoots?????
Avatar n tn I live 20 minutes from the nearest doctor or hospital. Until recently I always felt safe because I could use an epipen and that would give me time to get help. But now I have been diagnosed with about 8000 PVCs a day, and was told by another sufferer that I shouldn't use an epipen anymore, that it's not a good idea for those with PVCs.
Avatar f tn You may need an Epipen if it becomes more severe but in the meantime see a physician and buy some Benadryl.
Avatar f tn Epinephrine is known to act on the uterus through beta 2 receptors and can cause relaxation of the uterus. At term, it can prevent the contraction and delay the labor. I suggest you to consult gynecologist for further information. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn It gets very hot and bright red and stays there for 1-3 hours and then returns to its natural pale color. This usually happens a few times a week. It doesn't seem to be affected by temperature and I haven't been able to correlate it to anything else. The skin itself itchy and doesn't feel dry ... or anything besides really, really warm. Have you heard of anything like this before? Should I be worried?
Avatar f tn Hi, Pine nuts (piƱon) are the edible seeds of from the family Pinaceae. The pine bears seeds in cones and the cones that open upon maturity and spread their seeds are usually the female pine trees. The seed itself is almost entirely endosperm. The cedar nut is the seed of the Swiss pine. This link may be interesting to read: http://www.soupsong.com/fnuts.html If you had anaphylaxis reaction before, it is always good to carry a identification bracelet or epi pen with you.
645800 tn?1466860955 In the interim you need to have something like Medic Alert who could not only notify the paramedics, but could possibly notify someone around you who could come to your aid. You should teach everyone in your family how to use the EpiPen and all your close (in proximity and other) friends. There are also personal alarms that will sound shrilly if activated. That could alert family and neighbors.
Avatar n tn I was rushed to emergency, given benedryl and sent home 4 hours later. I got an Epipen for I was told, although rare, that I could have a secondary reaction within the next week. Sure enough November 5 I had a second reaction (bi-phasic reaction). I was given the epipen by my mother for I passed out and couldn't give it myself. Back to the hospital.
1979418 tn?1432135441 The only thing we can think of is that this morning it was cold and rainy, just kinda a yuck day overall. I knew last summer that intense sun and heat cause my legs to spasm, but this is the first time cold has bothered me this much. What is your experience? More reactions to heat or cold? Does the weather also cause your symptoms to do a psuedo flare? Thanks for your feedback!
Avatar f tn I have carried an epipen for the last 11 years for my son and Thank God we have not had to use it. But I was wondering if anyone did have an experience like this and had to use an epipen. Or if you have any information on urticaria pigmentosa? ( I know alot about it but I always would like to know more. Please share any information you may have or experiences you incountered.
Avatar f tn Yes, I take Rebif as well and I don't have any injection site problems. I just started 3 weeks ago though. But I take it at night right before I go to sleep. If I do it during the day, I get realllllllly sleepy. Hope everything turns out ok!
Avatar m tn The symptoms are itchy skin which spreads from neck to face and the remainder of the body (feels like heat swarming my legs and arms). My lips may or may not itch and my throat may start to swell. Twice I went to the ER and the other times oral Benadryl alleviated the symptoms. The allergist question if two foods combined would be the culprit. I have eaten all of these foods my entire life. Nothing has changed. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn In 2003 I suddenly went into Anaphylactic shock and began getting more troublesome and annoying symptoms. Hives, chronic pelvic and bone pain, hypersensitivity to heat, nausea, faintness, diarrhea, low blood pressure & itchy skin if bumped or rubbed . I was told that I have Mastocytsis @ that time. I have to carry an EpiPen at all times now. My question is this...since Mastocytsis affects the connective tissue & adhesions are scar tissue can one disorder make the other worse?
230262 tn?1316645934 Hi Ohio: It's my experience and to my knowledge, once you've had a strong allergic reaction to something, yes, it will accelerate. And NO! Epipens are not expensive. I use Benadryl as my first line of defense once a reaction starts. Many times it works and I don't have to use the Epipen. I hate the way the Epipen makes me feel. So do ask your doctor. I don't want to scare you but severe allergic reactions can be a serious problem.
453255 tn?1205792176 I have anaphylaxis and severe asthma, and I have several known anaphylactic triggers, (such as all treenuts, certain types of pollen, and raw fruit - especially apples) - but my new allergist I recently met with explained to me the reason I am allergic to raw fruit such as apples, peaches, pairs plumbs is because of a condition called "Oral Allergy Syndrome" where my tongue recognizes the fruit as pollen in its raw state.
20451547 tn?1498215245 (the er doctor said I am allergic to bees/wasps/hornets venom. That day I was rushed back into the er and bum rushed by 5 different nurses and a doctor, one nurse asking me which arm I want the epipen in? I am like Idc I can't breath stab me! ) I almost died that day, and now I have been having panic attacks almost every other day. I have been prescribed ativan for it, but I can't take that every single time I would become addicted to them.
Avatar m tn Nicotine is a vasoconstricter, meaning it makes it harder to pump blood through microcirculation. Furthermore there is no antidote. Nicotine is is absolutely contraindicated. You have a potentially life-threatening problem that cannot be solved by home remedies. You do not know when the situation may deteriorate into what is called a "locked-lung" resulting in death. The fact you have observed the symtoms progressively get worse over a period of time disturbs me.
338416 tn?1420045702 Mosquito bites were the worst - the area would swell up and hurt. The swelling was all out of proportion to the injury. The doctor said it was angioedema, caused by injury, but couldn't find a cause. All that has gone away since I've been taking Betaseron. Well, here's my theory. I'm allergic to Copaxone - we know that now. But I take an allergy pill twice a day, and I've done so since I've been in this town. What if the allergy was causing me to have angioedema?
1201433 tn?1328997637 have you tried pesasys epipen and riba they say the effect i have not tried any meds yet but i am asking for the epipen
Avatar m tn The only other unusual foods I ate that night were green onions and chives. I eat other onions and garlic all the time and never had a reaction. I now carry an epipen but would really like to track down the food that caused me to go into shock. Has anyone had such a reaction to chives or green onions without being allergic to other foods in that family? Thanks for any help you can give me.
Avatar m tn For a couple of years I started having this reaction to mangoes, where my lips burn and start to get crusty, and it has developed to that, my mouth gets itchy and dry, and my throat becomes raw. My aunt who used to be a RN gave me something called aclivor (both a pill and some kind of paste for my lips) which seemed to work for the first event. But lately, I've been running out of the paste and the only place I can find aclivor is on online pharmacies from Mexico.
Avatar f tn just as a warning, these type of allergies can cause more severe reactions the more you are exposed, so next time it happens it could be much worse. I would go to a doctor and get an epipen (spelling?). hopefully you will never need it, but it might save your life.
Avatar n tn I have these hive like spots on my body. It started out with itchy areas on my thighs and once I itched them, they turned into hive like spots that became even itchier. It's been about 3 days with this and it's gotten worse. So far, I have 7 of these itchy spots and they have remained around the thigh, pelvis, and lower back area. Is this an allergic reaction? If so, I have an epipen, should I take it?
Avatar m tn My wife, aged 81 recently had a severe coughing spell. Our Dr. prescribed prednizol and a codine based cough medicine. The cough was cleared up. My wife was called back in 3 days later for her annual flu shot. A day later she has broken out with severe hives. Our MD is not available for a few days, so I thought I would investigate on my own. Could this be a reaction to the flu shot? The medication? Both? or something not related to either? I undeerstand and antihistine would help. Correct?
Avatar n tn I have just seen a dermatologist who changed my antihistamine presciption, and who told me the hives could be linked to my thyroid condition and has taken blood to test for C3, C4, haemoglobins, electrophoresis, full blood count and ESR. Can you explain the link please between hypothyroid and allergic reactions? Also, is there anything I can do myself to help matters as it's very depressing.
