hi, yes i already have an epipen to use when i suffer from an attack, throughout the past 2 years ever since i started getting the attacks i have suffered from about 12-14 anaphylactic attacks and going thrugh every possible test there is to find out whats causing it and still the doctors and immunologists still can't find a cause.

Thanks so much for your replies! I was thinking that maybe the epipen would cause me to have a heart attack or a serious arrhythmia before I could get to the ER after using the epipen. (Jondsam, I'm told my heart is okay despite the many PVCs each day, and I have a hard time believing it too.) I also wondered whether use of the epipen could cause permanent changes in the kind of PVCs a person has, and now I feel better about that too.

I was rushed to emergency, given benedryl and sent home 4 hours later. I got an Epipen for I was told, although rare, that I could have a secondary reaction within the next week. Sure enough November 5 I had a second reaction (bi-phasic reaction). I was given the epipen by my mother for I passed out and couldn't give it myself. Back to the hospital.

) Anyway a few years later I again got stung my a bee and the reaction was immediate and severe. So there I was, my heart just about busting through my chest as it was struggling and I just could not give myself the EpiPen shot. Of course my Ex couldn't bring herself to give me the shot either. I think she must have been doing 100 MPH getting me to the ER that time. Again the same thing in the ER as the last time.

) I almost died that day, and now I have been having panic attacks almost every other day. I have been prescribed ativan for it, but I can't take that every single time I would become addicted to them. Going outside is hard for me during this time of year, seeing one bee makes me run back into house I am so scared of them. I have an epipen, I just never want to have to use it. This weekend was horrible, I had two reaction to the water, on friday it was with rain, and had to give me 2 shoots of Epipen, and than I was better but shaking badly from the Epipen, and yesturday just by sweat I did a reaction and again the Epipen but just once, and I didnt even went to the hospital after, his that dangerous if I dont go???? And his it dangerous I have to many shoots?????

I have anaphylaxis and severe asthma, and I have several known anaphylactic triggers, (such as all treenuts, certain types of pollen, and raw fruit - especially apples) - but my new allergist I recently met with explained to me the reason I am allergic to raw fruit such as apples, peaches, pairs plumbs is because of a condition called "Oral Allergy Syndrome" where my tongue recognizes the fruit as pollen in its raw state.

You may need an Epipen if it becomes more severe but in the meantime see a physician and buy some Benadryl.

lately i get constant pain up and down my arms and into my shoulders then center of my chest hurts and it feels heavy but not real bad it kinda feels like heart burn. the pain in my arms will only be in one arm at a time. the past 2 days the pain in arm and chest comes and goes..and i've read that in women symptoms are different sometimes than in men..im worried because the pain is becoming more frequent than it has been..

However, last week I ate a hamburger with mushrooms and cheese and had a similar reaction. No facial numbness but extreme dizziness and breathing difficulty. I have an epipen but have never used it. Does anyone know of a common allergy to food additives or preservatives. I have to eat out a good bit for my business and am getting very nervous about eating in restaurants. I could no longer stand without my heart going erratic and feeling like I was going to collapse. I could hardly move my legs to walk anyway, they were so heavy. I couldn't hardly speak because I was so short of breath. The lip numbness persist and my lips were turning a little blue. I felt like my airway was slowly constricting (this was probably the most annoying symptom as it felt like I was choking). I was alone and I wasn't sure what to do.

I agree that no one can tell you what to do. What does your heart tell you? I tx'd at stage 2, grade 2 and was ultimately diagnosed as a non-responder. I gave it 2 tries with no luck. In your case and in my opinion, I would tx with some of the newer treatments avail. I was diagnosed in 2005 and since then have gone from stage 2, grade 2 to late stage 3, grade 3. So unfortunately, I am progressing rapidly.

In the interim you need to have something like Medic Alert who could not only notify the paramedics, but could possibly notify someone around you who could come to your aid. You should teach everyone in your family how to use the EpiPen and all your close (in proximity and other) friends. There are also personal alarms that will sound shrilly if activated. That could alert family and neighbors.

My heart was racing, heart palpatations, sick to stomach, hot flashes, trembleing, etc. Took a Xanax right away. Thank God for those! I am pretty positive that they are not heart attacks you are experiencing. The pain would be very intense and you would end up at the hospital for sure. Hang in there and I hope you are able to get some answers very soon.
