Avatar n tn I had a lumpectomy 6 months ago (with sentinel nodes) followed by radiation therapy. My profession includes air travel and after my last long haul flight I have swelling and tenderness under my arm extending to the breast and it is very painful to extend my arm. What can be done to reduce the pain and swelling and should I see the surgeon?
794496 tn?1351040555 I have a question on air travel during the first trimester. I am currently on my tww (but feel very optimistic for a +). I need to decide whether to book some flights over the next few days for travel in April/May. If I do get my BFP I would be travelling to California (from east coast) for three weeks for a course (weeks 7 to 10) THEN my mil just this weekend asked if we would go with her to the old country (Bulgaria) for two (weeks 13 to 15).
Avatar n tn Hi Mommas, I am currently 6 weeks pregnant and I have flights booked for my 11th week. I asked my doctor and she said it is up to me if I want to travel. This is my second child but I am still nervous. Just want some advice. We are doing three flights and the longest is 4.5 hours. Thanks for any advice!
Avatar f tn s a long flight every hour try to walk around for 3-4 minutes as this will help circulate the blood in your legs and help with swelling. Drink lots of water. I took and empty bottle with me through security and then filled it up and the air hostess filled it up for me - you'll get incredibly thirsty. I spoke to my obgyn before I left and this is what he told me. Just try to relax and sleep as much as possible.
Avatar m tn My mother underwent an angioplasty about two years ago and she has to take an air travel for about 03 hours. Is is advisable.
Avatar f tn It is an 18-20 hour trip by air to come home. I would really like some experience or information about air travel, pressure and hematomas since I have received some conflicting information. She has a reservation, was due to fly next Monday. The hospital seems to be doing things fairly well but the communication is difficult. Doctors talk to nurses who try to talk to my brother who does not speak Spanish and who is allowed to visit for one hour midday when no doctors are available.
Avatar n tn Hi, welcome to the forum, as such epipen are not available yet. Epipen delivers a measured dose of epinephrine (also known as adrenaline) using autoinjector technology, most frequently for the treatment of acute allergic reactions to avoid or treat the onset of anaphylactic shock. In certain cases it can be used to stop local bleeding. Alternatively, the same drug can be given by the local health care provider or you need to go to emergency department.

Avatar n tn The danger is that the blood clot and break loose and travel to the lungs and cause a dangerous (and potentially lethal) event called a pulmonary embolism. The signs and symptoms of DVT are lower extremity swelling, redness, and pain and the signs and symptoms of pulmonary embolism are chest pain and shortness of breath. Steps that can be made to reduce the chances of the formation of a DVT are to avoid prolonged periods of inactivity (for example, a long flight) and maintain good hydration.
Avatar m tn Hello, Some folks get jet lag and other issues every time they fly. One reason is due to the air in the cabin of the plane. You see, it is constantly circulating, but, not fresh, and the longer you are in the air, the more "unfresh" if you excuse the word, the air becomes. In some, this can cause sinus issues, brain fog, and tiredness. There are other things you can do to decrease the effects of jet lag.
Avatar n tn I was swollen within seconds and was confused and turned pale. I stuck myself with the epipen and called the ambulance. I was in the hospital for two days while they worked on me. The doctor said the epipen saved my life. He also said if you have pvc's the epipen poses little threat as the allergic reaction is much more serious. When I stuck myself my heart rate shot up and i could feel the pvc's jumping.

Avatar n tn I live 20 minutes from the nearest doctor or hospital. Until recently I always felt safe because I could use an epipen and that would give me time to get help. But now I have been diagnosed with about 8000 PVCs a day, and was told by another sufferer that I shouldn't use an epipen anymore, that it's not a good idea for those with PVCs.
Avatar f tn Has anyone traveled by air during their 3rd trimester? I wasn't planning to travel at all but my boyfriend's family wants to throw a baby shower for us in another state. The flight is only 2hrs. I'd be around 32 weeks. Is this a good idea? I'm really skeptical.
Avatar n tn My daughter had a severe accident and along with other injuries has a fracture on the left side of her skull between her left ear and neck. She also had bleeding on her brain and was in ICU for 4 days. Although she has the pain under some control she does have terrible headaches off and on. My question is what is the danger of her flying home? She could fly straight thru in about 2 1/2 hours or stop with 1 to 2 hour flights. Or should we try and drive home?

Avatar f tn you can air travel well into your 3rd trimester
