Avatar n tn Not all feline spays are performed using an endotracheal tube. If an endotracheal tube was used than the information that Ireneo posted is valid. Aspiration pneumonia can occur if your cat had not been completely fasted prior to surgery and NO endotracheal tube was used. However it can occur even with an endotracheal tube under some rare circumstances.
Avatar f tn When you have a general anesthesia you generally always have a tube down your throat ... this is an Endotracheal Tube which is how your breathing is controlled while you are asleep. There is nothing to fear from this .... your airway wouldn't be completely open and you couldn't be properly ventilated otherwise. You might have a slight sore throat as a result but any discomfort would be minimal. This is no more routine than having an IV placed for use during surgery.
Avatar n tn A dog can cough after any procedure that requires anesthesia because an endotracheal tube is placed down the dog's trachea to deliver oxygen and anesthesia. The endotracheal can be mildly irritating, and cause temporary inflammation to the trachea. The Temeril-p acts as an anti-inflammatory. If the temeril-p is insufficient, an over the counter cough suppressant such as Vicks cough medicine or other over the counter cough medicine may help. Use 1/2 tsp. 3 times per day.
Avatar f tn First of all an endotracheal tube is usually used during general anesthesia to insure that an airway is maintained during surgery .. a good deal of general anesthesia today is via drugs and not necessarily gasses .. of course you are given oxygen during the procedure. As far as your underwear is concerned: people RARELY go into an operating room wearing their clothing; other than a hospital gown and some form of head covering. The operating room is a sterile area for your own protection.
Avatar n tn They will undoubtedly pressure you to remove the endotracheal tube and get a trach to get her out of the ICU. Basically, it takes at least ninety days for such a condition to stabilize and to make a decision as to brain death. You need someone to be witth her at all times, if money if no object, and for someone to hold her wrist/hand, or place their hand on her shoulder at all times. Obtain recordings of her family, put them on a recorder and get her comfortable earphones to hear the voices.
Avatar m tn Also , you may want to ask whether the doctor you are choosing is using the nerve monitoring device - it is a special tube , either Endotracheal tube-based EMG monitoring, used for prevention of injuring laryngeal nerves which are very small in diameter, and in consequence relatively easy to injure by traction , or Dedicated EMG endotracheal tube(used by Anesthesiologist) It is a standards of care to use it , but not all surgeons are comfortable with it and not all use it.
698046 tn?1228077849 If your baby required assistance with a ventilator, it is likely that he received surfactant as a medication delivered directly to the lungs through the breathing tube (endotracheal tube). Surfactant is one of the medications that has allowed Neonatologist to take better care of premature infants.
Avatar n tn Would talk to your surgeon about this - it may be the endotracheal tube used to intubate patients for anesthesia. Salivary gland damage is not part of thyroid surgery. Gastro-esophogeal reflux is sometimes worse after surgery.
Avatar f tn In a severe asthmatic attack the trachea closes up tight and not all EMS crews are trained and certified in endotracheal intubation. If they get an endotracheal tube in, and the heart has gone into ventricular fibrilation, generally there is a window of opportunity to restart the heart using electro-countershock. The most common condition following an asphyxial episode is ventricular fibrillation. Sometimes, if the heart stops a hard fist on the chest will restart it.
Avatar f tn t tolerate epinephrine well and my teeth are hard to numb. The dentist prescribed Halcyon (which I took 1 hour before the appointment) saying it will relax me and make numbing easier and the non-epinephrine local anesthetic last longer. He gave me 2 shots of local on each side. Afterwards, I felt slight pain at one of the injection places, no pain anywhere else. The next day, my face was swollen, and I still had just the slight pain from one of the injections.
Avatar f tn Generally patients can live with an endotracheal tube for two weeks before going to a decision as to whether to get a trach. The hospitals like to pressure families to get a trach to remove the patient from the critical care unit as soon as possible. You have my sympathies. Don't give up hope, but the outlook is not good for most patients in such a situation.

Avatar f tn I had to get stitches last night, and was given 5-6 shots of epinephrine and lidocane. I told the intake nurse I was taking synthroid (which I presume implies thyroid problems). I felt a little "unusual" afterward (pounding heart, feeling calm and detached..), and was googling the side effects of the shot.. an article said this: "Additionally, epinephrine and lidocaine usually aren’t used in patients with thyroid disease, or disease of the kidneys or liver.
Avatar n tn I had a 2nd trimester miscarriage the day that I had a mole removed at my dermatologist. They used Epinephrine and Xylocaine and when we received the autopsy report it revealed that my baby was perfectly normal and healthy without chromosonal issues prior to him dieing in my womb that day. Has anyone experienced this or known anyone who has? I researched on the web and found many warnings about pregnant women receiving Lidocaine from the dentist but not what they gave me.
Avatar f tn So far I always got eye drops without epinephrine/or something equal to epinephrine, but this last eye doctor did not want to use any drops at all. He examined my eyes without dialating them.
Avatar m tn Hi, It is a serotonin and nor epinephrine reuptake inhibitor. The name of the neurotransmitter is nor epinephrine it is different from epinephrine. Most of the side effects occur during the period when one is taking the medication. But the important thing to remember is to follow the doctors instructions carefully. To reduce the incidence of side effects it is always started with a low dose and then it is gradually increased.
Avatar f tn The feeding tube is routine with preemies. At 33 weeks, most don't yet have capability to feed from a bottle. Developmentally speaking, it doesn't come until about 33-34 weeks, and for some babies it takes a lot of energy to feed from the bottle or breast. I have twins that were born at 32 weeks. They didn't start bottle/breast feeding until 34 weeks and at first they'd only take about 25% of their feeding from the bottle (the rest was feed via the tube).
Avatar f tn Can anyone here tell me if ms has any effect on either of the hormones epinephrine or norepinephrine?
Avatar m tn My concern is because I have not seen the guy using autoclave machine for tattoo machine (gun) itself and tattoo tube (grip). He was using alcohol after he shaved my leg before tattooing and I think that he put some alcohol on machine and tube before he started. He was using brand new bandages to put on my leg latter. I was talking to him before we started and he said that he wash his equipment in water and soap before using every time but he never mentioned autoclave machine.
Avatar m tn What if someone who has had an ectopic pregnancy that was removed via surgery (tube completely taken out) became pregnant only after one normal period?
1317473 tn?1329245903 A tube can remain in place for fourteen days without causing tissue damage, but this is extremely expensive for the hospital (normally the endotracheal tube is removed shortly after the procedure), so basically, they deferred the procedure to save them medical expenses.
Avatar f tn It could be that you are getting the wring kind off formula for your body. Are they also giving you a pull for. Reflux? And why are you on the GT. To begin with ?
Avatar f tn 11 hours and I am back to the OR for a new tube and new cut. Hopefully not a new bug or another faulty tube. I will keep you posted.
4703993 tn?1379768388 I found this tidbit in a journal abstract that you may want to show your doc: "Patients with syncope while supine also had sympathoadrenal imbalance before loss of consciousness. Sympathoadrenal imbalance precedes tilt-evoked and spontaneous neurocardiogenic syncope and correlates with concurrent skeletal muscle vasodilation. Sympathoadrenal imbalance may contribute to hemodynamic derangements precipitating neurocardiogenic syncope." http://www.ajconline.
Avatar f tn It's the epinephrine in the anesthetic that causes the racing heart, etc. Next time you're at the dentist and you need/want an anesthetic ask for one WITHOUT epinephrine. The medication generally takes a little longer to "kick in" and wears off faster, but your dentist will work with you for maximum comfort.
Avatar f tn The bacteria feed on the rotted foodstuff and eventually enter the Eustachian tube through the infected tooth. The Eustachian tube connects the throat, teeth; ears, eyes and head, infection that enters via the tooth can migrate or settle at one or more of these points causing pain. Take some analgesics for pain relief. Get your tooth treatment done. That will help. Take care and kind regards!
