484160 tn?1343397921 Hello, What you seem to be having is called aquagenic urticaria. Water urticaria, or aquagenic urticaria, is a rare condition in which hives develop within 1 to 15 minutes after contact with water. The hives last for 10 to 120 minutes and do not seem to be caused by histamine release like the other physical hives. It is diagnosed by applying tap water and distilled water to the skin and observing the reaction.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with exercise induced urticaria. I am a college student who developed my symptoms only 3 months ago. I get this itchy red rash when i sweat, and I get hives when i sweat in the water. Claritin does not help, and I refused to take Prednisone from my doctor (for many reasons). Ive traveled to a lot of tropical places, so i took a natural anti-parasite medication, but it did not help. Is there a correlation between urticaria and a yeast overload?
Avatar m tn Since I was about 18 I've noticed that whenever I exercise or have an increase in body temp. due to stress, adrenaline, or just warm room temperature (if I was just in a colder environment), I break out in a red rash all over my body. If I itch it at all, it becomes full blown hives. This only happens in cold weather when I'm not acclimatized to the heat, and it also subsides after extreme sweating (but before then is a problem).
Avatar n tn Treatment of water urticaria includes epinephrine, antihistamines, or cortisone-like drugs. Itching can be controlled with cold packs or commercial topical agents that contain menthol, camphor, eucalyptus oil, aloe, antihistamines, or cortisone preparations Hope it helps. Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
Avatar m tn Water urticaria, also known as aquagenic urticaria and aquagenous urticaria, is an extremely rare form of physical urticaria. It is sometimes described as an allergy. In affected persons, water on the skin causes hives to appear within 15 minutes and last for up to two hours. Water contact can cause aquagenic urticaria, presumably due to chlorine or some other trace chemical in the water, hence you don't exhibit reactions to distilled water.

Avatar m tn t actually believe that I have urticaria, I believe that I am getting the rash because it is a sign of a reaction to something that is happening to my immune system or my muscles being damaged. Can you give me any advice?
Avatar m tn Hi, agree with you it difficult if we have allergic reactions to environmental factors like water, as they are difficult to avoid. Avatar m tn Sunlight, even without drugs, causes immediate urticaria in some people. This may be a symptom of porphyria--a genetic metabolic defect. Removing the offending agent is the first step to treatment. If sun is involved, shade and sunscreens are necessary. The reaction can usually be controlled with epinephrine, antihistamines, or cortisone-like drugs.
Avatar f tn Hello, It looks like exercise induced urticaria. Most symptoms can be controlled by taking antihistaminics like benadryl or Claritin or zyrtec. Slow down or stop your exercise as soon as symptoms start. You should always exercise with a partner who knows about your condition. In some people, eating certain foods before exercise may make allergic symptoms more likely to occur. Keep track of what you eat before exercising for a few weeks.
Avatar m tn 28 days after contact I started having ARS symptoms fever, soar throat, Lymphadenopathy, Myalgias, Joint pain, mouth ulcers (3), Weight loss, Nausea, loose motions, urticaria rash... Loose motions started 2 weeks after fever. The rash started with one object a day, itchy for the first 5 min and disappeared after ~2h (urticaria). Rash is the only remaining symptom now >4 weeks after onset of illness.
Avatar f tn I had to get stitches last night, and was given 5-6 shots of epinephrine and lidocane. I told the intake nurse I was taking synthroid (which I presume implies thyroid problems). I felt a little "unusual" afterward (pounding heart, feeling calm and detached..), and was googling the side effects of the shot.. an article said this: "Additionally, epinephrine and lidocaine usually aren’t used in patients with thyroid disease, or disease of the kidneys or liver.
Avatar f tn Look up excercise-induced itching, exercise-induced urticaria, or excercise-induced hives. It's a thing.
Avatar n tn I had a 2nd trimester miscarriage the day that I had a mole removed at my dermatologist. They used Epinephrine and Xylocaine and when we received the autopsy report it revealed that my baby was perfectly normal and healthy without chromosonal issues prior to him dieing in my womb that day. Has anyone experienced this or known anyone who has? I researched on the web and found many warnings about pregnant women receiving Lidocaine from the dentist but not what they gave me.
Avatar f tn So far I always got eye drops without epinephrine/or something equal to epinephrine, but this last eye doctor did not want to use any drops at all. He examined my eyes without dialating them.
Avatar m tn Hi, It is a serotonin and nor epinephrine reuptake inhibitor. The name of the neurotransmitter is nor epinephrine it is different from epinephrine. Most of the side effects occur during the period when one is taking the medication. But the important thing to remember is to follow the doctors instructions carefully. To reduce the incidence of side effects it is always started with a low dose and then it is gradually increased.
