1047019 tn?1256719961 I recently had a bad reaction to novacaine when I went to the Dentist. I've also recently developed a bad allergy to wheat and gluten. Does novacaine contain either? I am worried about some kind of allergic syndrome developing.
Avatar f tn So far I always got eye drops without epinephrine/or something equal to epinephrine, but this last eye doctor did not want to use any drops at all. He examined my eyes without dialating them.
Avatar n tn m wondering with my heart problem how dangerous is it to get a dose of epinephrine and how will that affect my heart? I had an epinephrine dose in the early nineties due to a breathing problem, but that was before I was diagnosed with the mvp and atrial misfire.
Avatar f tn When I called the office they told me it was probably not the lidocaine but instead was a reaction to the epinephrine. It landed me in the ER that night and since that single incident, I've tried to stay away from both. Incidentally, after my ablation for a-fib 15 mo. ago, I've started having short tachycardia episodes (10-30 min) and my EP has told me to take a "beta-blocker in a pocket" and it has, thank God, helped to shorten the episodes.
Avatar m tn This can be a serious and life-threatening problem. The minute sensitivity starts, the next attack may result in death and an antidote should be kept on the person forever. It is not unusual for such a sensitivity to start at some point in life for reasons that are unclear. Consult your allergist to put together a "kit" of emergency medications. Prednisone, epinephrine and an antihistamine are commonly prescribed and kept on hand. You must srupulously avoid shellfish.
1305767 tn?1361192676 t bad this time because they gave me nitrous but I learned they put epinephrine in the local anesthetic shots (it has something to do with helping the anesthetic last longer) So I'm thinking the epinephrine sends my anxiety level from like a six to a ten. Last November I had a tooth pulled and while the dentist was injecting the shot my heart rate got so high I almost passed out. They put a monitor on my finger and it was about 150! That is just crazy.
Avatar f tn I am still trying to fight these hives and was woundering....I have a sulfa allergy also I always groupped it with all my antibiotic allergys ....was resently told also to watch out for foods as well...I was told years ago that I am allergic to epinephrine but doctors question that because I was already having a allergic reaction at the time....Is it possible I'm dealining with more than one reaction?
Avatar f tn s but I had a horrible reaction when an ENT Dr sprayed a mixture of lidocaine and epinephrine up my nose to look at my sinuses and within 20 minutes I was in a-fib.
Avatar f tn t have any discoloration which is typical of hematoma. I have had non-epinephrine injections before with no such reaction, so I don't think I'm allergic. The swelling went away after a week, along with the slight injection pain. It literally went away overnight. But that left me with loose skin and asymmetry on my face (I'm 34, so at an age when skin elasticity starts to decrease). It has been another week since the swelling went away and the loose skin isn't any better.
Avatar n tn One time I had to go straight to the ER from the ear, nose and throat Dr because he had sprayed lidocaine or zylocaine with epinephrine into my nose, but my reaction came only 20 minutes later because od the way it was ingested. The Dr told me I just had a sensitivity to it. PS. I have never had a reaction like that to Vicodin. I think one of the "caine" drigs is more likely the culprit.
Avatar f tn This weekend was horrible, I had two reaction to the water, on friday it was with rain, and had to give me 2 shoots of Epipen, and than I was better but shaking badly from the Epipen, and yesturday just by sweat I did a reaction and again the Epipen but just once, and I didnt even went to the hospital after, his that dangerous if I dont go???? And his it dangerous I have to many shoots?????
Avatar m tn In a simple dental procedure, I had what I can only describe as a seizure after getting what was supposed to be lidocaine and epinephrine injection. The area never got numb, and the pain from the point of the needle each time they attempted to inject me was painful. I was taken to the ER and released after 8 hours with no explanation. I read that lidocaine can cause a seizure. I have had injections many times with no problem. What could have gone wrong?
1666434 tn?1325262350 Then about 2 weeks ago I go to the dentist and have an immediate reaction to Septocaine which contains epinephrine which has Sulfites in it, grrrr. Do I need a medical alert bracelet or necklace?
Avatar f tn Hello, I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be contact dermatitis or allergic reaction to the chlorine in the swimming pool water. Treatment includes epinephrine, antihistamines, or cortisone-like drugs. Take some oral antihistaminic like Benadryl and apply calamine lotion. Itching can be controlled with cold packs or commercial topical agents that contain menthol, camphor, eucalyptus oil, aloe, antihistamines, or cortisone preparations.
1639028 tn?1300617084 Hi, welcome to the forum, anaphylaxis is an emergency allergic reaction and is due to hypersensitivity reaction (type 1). Usually responsible allergen is known. Drugs like amoxicillin, certain painkillers, certain garments, environmental allergen and certain food (fish, mushroom, peanuts, soy etc) can cause such reaction. You need to keep track of things (maintain a diary) you were exposed to such as food, cloths, drugs etc. and you should avoid further exposure.
Avatar f tn I have had hives for a day & a half. I would like to know if this could be related to nerves. I don't have any food allergies. I went to the doctor yesterday, she gave me a shot of Epinephrine. That helped for a couple of hours. I have been taking benadryl every 6 hours & putting blue star ointment on. Before I got the shot my mouth was swelling and I almost lost my voice. Please, let me know what to do.
383138 tn?1314167773 Does anyone know if it is dangerous to get lidocaine IV infusion (for pain) when I have multiple daily heart arrhythmias, tachycardia, bradycardia, PVCs, PSVTs, PACs, SVEs, and also fluctuating blood pressure problems. (I am also on toprol xl daily). I had severe heart reaction to lidocaine from a dental injection in the past, so they wont use it on me any more. But now my pain dr. wants to do a lidocaine IV infusion, he says IV infusion of lidocaine is different than the dental injection.
Avatar f tn I had to get stitches last night, and was given 5-6 shots of epinephrine and lidocane. I told the intake nurse I was taking synthroid (which I presume implies thyroid problems). I felt a little "unusual" afterward (pounding heart, feeling calm and detached..), and was googling the side effects of the shot.. an article said this: "Additionally, epinephrine and lidocaine usually aren’t used in patients with thyroid disease, or disease of the kidneys or liver.
Avatar f tn I had 25mg of benadryl when I had an anaphylactic reaction in 1988 after being given epinephrine, and I slept for 3 days. Every time I tried to wake up, I kept falling back to sleep and couldn't awaken. I couldn't call for help either. They had to break down my door to see if I was okay because I didn't show up for work - just from 25 mg of benadryl!
338416 tn?1420045702 Bob, do you think the Epipen would work to control a Copaxone allergic reaction? (Not that it matters - I'm not taking it any more!) So it sounds like the allergy pill wasn't keeping an allergic reaction from Copaxone at bay... I still have to wonder if it had something to do with the angioedema.
Avatar f tn I discussed these concerns with my primary doctor, but she says to just go back on it, she thinks I am having an inflammatory reaction to the chronic infection. I don't know what to do. I do feel worse infection-wise after going off the augmentin, which I'm very concerned about (been fighting this infection for 4 months due to a root canal that didn't get rid of all the infected root, now have a bone infection there as a result).
Avatar n tn I had a 2nd trimester miscarriage the day that I had a mole removed at my dermatologist. They used Epinephrine and Xylocaine and when we received the autopsy report it revealed that my baby was perfectly normal and healthy without chromosonal issues prior to him dieing in my womb that day. Has anyone experienced this or known anyone who has? I researched on the web and found many warnings about pregnant women receiving Lidocaine from the dentist but not what they gave me.
Avatar f tn she does take monthly venom shots dr think this could have caused the delayed reaction but said the a reaction can appear any time even 72 hr after first attack she told us when in doubt take the epi shot
Avatar m tn Take extreme care to avoid those substances you can identify that act as antigens and provoke a systemic reaction. Clearly, you require an albuterol emergency inhaler (not the epinephrine sold in the drug stores). Your physician may also prescribe anti-histamines and prednisone for emergencfy use. "Cheaper and convenient" have no meaning for those in the grave.
Avatar f tn This is only somewhat related to the deep concern you have for your child. I had a lidocaine (?) injection which was one of dozens over the years. One such numbing up caused me heart palpitations and my face went white. The doctor gave me oxygen to breathe while I got over it. I really can't say why that one injection caused that reaction after having so many many over the years.
