Epinephrine or adrenaline

Common Questions and Answers about Epinephrine or adrenaline

epipen

Avatar f tn Epinephrine (adrenaline has a plasma half life of 2-3 minutes). 4 hours have passed since you posted this. What is your heart rate presently?
Avatar f tn the area before a root canal, contained a vaso stimumulator (adrenaline or adrenaline like substance) that made my heart go a hundred miles per hour, so to speak, in addition to the SVT. So, the next time I had work done, I told my dentist about the SVT and what had happened and he suggested next time, to use a numbing medication that would not stimulate my heart and he did. I was just fine the next go around.
Avatar f tn An increase in sympathetic nervous system stimulation causes the heart rate to increase, both by the direct action of sympathetic nerve fibers on the heart and by causing the endocrine system to release hormones such as epinephrine (adrenaline), which have a similar effect. Increased sympathetic stimulation is usually due to physical or psychological stress.
Avatar f tn The adrenaline from a local anestethic can increase blood adrenaline levels about 5-10 times, and when you add the natural effect of the fact that no one like going to the dentist, you can end up with fairly high adrenaline levels. The numbers look dramatic, but also keep in mind that adrenaline levels are highly variable. They can increase 2-3 times just by standing up, 10-30 times with stress, 50-100 times with panic attack, and up to 1000 times with pheocromocytoma.
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the forum, Epipen delivers a measured dose of epinephrine (also known as adrenaline) using autoinjector technology, most frequently for the treatment of acute allergic reactions to avoid or treat the onset of anaphylactic shock. In certain cases it can be used to stop local bleeding. Epinephrine is known to act on the uterus through beta 2 receptors and can cause relaxation of the uterus. At term, it can prevent the contraction and delay the labor.
Avatar m tn Hi there--I'm so glad you're here. You are not an addict, but your body has been acclimated to the Primatene. Primatene is a chemical hammer! It can be deadly, too. I'm glad your loving family helped with the expense of seeing a doctor. Well, you need to make one more visit and tell that doctor what you told us. Go to him THIS WEEK. If you are having chest tightness, your asthma is still not under control.
Avatar f tn Can anyone here tell me if ms has any effect on either of the hormones epinephrine or norepinephrine?
Avatar n tn m wondering with my heart problem how dangerous is it to get a dose of epinephrine and how will that affect my heart? I had an epinephrine dose in the early nineties due to a breathing problem, but that was before I was diagnosed with the mvp and atrial misfire.
458072 tn?1291415186 s not anxiety, it is adrenaline. I had these for a year. They cause vasoconstriction, resulting in cold spots or numbness in areas on the body. My worst spots were my thigh and upper arms. Because the numbness was so bad originally, they sent me for an MRI and a neurologist. It got better with time and by getting my thyroid levels in the optimal range. Thyroid and adrenaline (epinephrine) have an inverse relationship - low thyroid = high adrenaline.
Avatar n tn Hi, welcome to the forum, as such epipen are not available yet. Epipen delivers a measured dose of epinephrine (also known as adrenaline) using autoinjector technology, most frequently for the treatment of acute allergic reactions to avoid or treat the onset of anaphylactic shock. In certain cases it can be used to stop local bleeding. Alternatively, the same drug can be given by the local health care provider or you need to go to emergency department.
780665 tn?1239026549 ok, so i had my one and only panic attack, two months ago, ever since then i can always feel my heart pumping throughout my body along even though its not going quicker with, i have done heart tests which show that i am fine, so my doctor says these feelings are down to anxiety, so what i am trying to understand why is it now that if i walk up the stairs, or do anything which involves a small bit of exertion, anxiety makes me more aware of my heartbeat, has the original panic attack messed up
770296 tn?1244385841 The primary catecholamines are dopamine, epinephrine (adrenaline), and norepinephrine. These hormones are released into the bloodstream in response to physical or emotional stress. They help transmit nerve impulses in the brain, increase glucose and fatty acid release for energy, dilate bronchioles, and dilate the pupils. Norepinephrine also constricts blood vessels, increasing blood pressure, and epinephrine increases heart rate and metabolism.
Avatar f tn HBP would not be a likely cause. It's easy enough to have BP checked. When we exercise adrenaline (epinephrine) is dumped into the body's system. It is a vasodilator makes blood vessels dilate.
Avatar f tn ve yet to find a medical explanation for it other than our bodies may be releasing epinephrine or nor-epinephrine causing an adrenaline rush. Has the Cleveland Clinic done any investigation into this at all? There are an awful lot of people with this problem from what I can tell. Besides avoiding the triggers, is there anything that can be done to prevent it from happening? Would lectin blockers do anything? Are beta blockers helpful in treating it if you do over do it?
1639028 tn?1300617084 Drugs like Adrenaline, anti-histaminics and corticosteroids are the standard mode of treatment You can keep Epipen against prescription. Epipen delivers a measured dose of epinephrine (also known as adrenaline) using autoinjector technology, most frequently for the treatment of acute allergic reactions to avoid or treat the onset of anaphylactic shock. It should be taken after consultation from physician. Take care and regards.
961612 tn?1250642671 I'm glad to hear you're doing so well. I agree with your recommendations. Excellent. An adrenaline story: I have asthma. One time it was way out of control and I ended up at the hospital. They had me use the nebulizer (inhaling albuterol, an adrenergic drug with adrenaline effects). It didn't help so I had to use it again. Still no help for the lungs but my PSVT was acting up and my muscles were twitching.
Avatar m tn I went to my family doctor and she check my thyroid. Those results came back good. So I asked her to check my epinephrine levels because it almost seems like i have too much adrenaline. Those results cam back slightly high so she referred me to an endocrinologist. She also put me on 50mg of metoprolol (beta blocker). This medicine worked really good in beginning but several months later I am starting to have high blood pressure and high heart rate.
Avatar m tn The inner portion (medulla) of the adrenal gland secretes epinephrine (adrenaline) and norepinephrine (adrenaline). The outer portion (the cortex) manufactures the hormones cortisone and aldosterone. All these hormones are necessary for life. Adrenal extracts are made from the adrenal glands of cows, pigs, or other animals. According to a theory prevalent in alternative medicine, the consumption of adrenal extracts can strengthen the function of an underperforming or exhausted adrenal gland.
Avatar m tn Adrenaline would be a logical answer and a typical reaction. It's likely that nothing is wrong with you and your having a normal reaction to the circumstances. Heres a short definition and a link if you would like to read more about it. Adrenaline is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands during high stress or exciting situations. This powerful hormone is part of the human body's acute stress response system, also called the "fight or flight" response.
Avatar m tn Some people with diabetes will notice a significantly higher glucose rise directly after more strenuous activity and/or competitive sports; this is because epinephrine (adrenaline) is a hormone released during exercise, stress, excitement, or illness, and its effect is to cause the liver to release even more glucose to supply the body with the needed energy. Usually, this is a temporary effect, and later the blood glucose will go back to its original level. I hope this makes it clearer.
Avatar f tn Oftentimes if you think you might be experiencing problems your body will release epinephrine (adrenaline) which could be causing your symptoms. Try to do everything to relax the next time it occurs.
807506 tn?1248649733 s called (massive dosages) of prednisone as much as 100mg boosts, adrenaline, susphrine, epinephrine, theophline(?), terbutaline, a couple of experimental drugs and aerosol treatments. I now have narcolepsy and other problems that just seem to be getting worse. I heard somewhere that some of these things could be tested and Im wondering if some of it anyway could be due to impaired function because of the drugs. Again thank you for taking the time to post the info.
