Avatar f tn Hagan, The eyedrops to dialate the pupils will they go into your bloodstream? I had one eye doctor tell me no, another one said yes. I cannot have epinephrine at the dentist due to severe reactions as in a racing heart, PVC's, and a rise in BP. My question: Do these drops have enough in it to maybe cause for me to have the same reaction? So far I always got eye drops without epinephrine/or something equal to epinephrine, but this last eye doctor did not want to use any drops at all.
Avatar f tn Start with an eye exam by an Eye MD. If its normal then it's just the dilation of blood vessesl (vasodilation) that goes along with exercise.
Avatar m tn I have ME/CFS and I hadnt seen the online warnings that for those of us with ME, anethestics with the epinephrine in them can be very bad and best avoided for those of us with this, so I found this out the hard way. I didnt have any other pain relief except this lidocaine injection so my reaction was certainly from that. It caused me to have a near seizure or a seizure. My legs started majorly jerking, I started twitching all over.
Avatar f tn Epinephrine is relatively contraindicated in hyperthyroidism as the vascular effects of epinephrine can worsen this condition. A hyperthyroid patient may be more sensitive to the catecholamines and thyrotoxic or cardiotoxic symptoms can occur. Epinephrine is also relatively contraindicated in hypertension due to the risk of worsening this condition. Both hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism can cause hypertension.
Avatar m tn Not everyone who is on or who has taken Flomax develops IFIS (intraoperative floppy iris syndrome), but it occurs with the fluid currents in the eye during the emulsification of the cataract nucleus, or the irrigation-aspiration of the cortex. Fortunately, we have good ways of dealing with IFIS, such as intraocular epinephrine, viscoelastics, and the Malyugin Ring pupil expander.
Avatar f tn I use Visine Allergy eye drops--they work better than the drops from the eye doctor.
Avatar n tn this morning it is swollen shut and swollen down my face and across the bridge of my nose and swelling is staring in the other eye. It is not painful. what else can I do?
Avatar n tn Animal studies have revealed evidence of teratogenicity when epinephrine was given in doses approximately 25 times the usual recommended human dose (on a per kg basis). There are no reports of teratogenicity in humans. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Epinephrine is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.
Avatar m tn Hi, It is a serotonin and nor epinephrine reuptake inhibitor. The name of the neurotransmitter is nor epinephrine it is different from epinephrine. Most of the side effects occur during the period when one is taking the medication. But the important thing to remember is to follow the doctors instructions carefully. To reduce the incidence of side effects it is always started with a low dose and then it is gradually increased.
Avatar f tn I'am a 67 yr old female who sweats profusely from the top of my head. I do suffer with menopause as I get so hot at times but, the sweating from the top of my head I'am not sure is related to menopause. The only time I'm not sweating like that is when I'm idle. Can someone help me?
4703993 tn?1379768388 org/article/S0002-9149(02)02997-1/fulltext The author, Goldstein, is one of the leading authors in the field of catecholamines (a key component of autonomic function), so this is likely a good article. Here's more from the article, if you're interested: "Syncope while supine Sudden loss of consciousness occurred in 4 patients while being monitored in the supine position. At baseline, arterial plasma concentrations of norepinephrine (1.3 ± 0.2 nmol/L) and epinephrine (0.29 ± 0.
Avatar f tn It's the epinephrine in the anesthetic that causes the racing heart, etc. Next time you're at the dentist and you need/want an anesthetic ask for one WITHOUT epinephrine. The medication generally takes a little longer to "kick in" and wears off faster, but your dentist will work with you for maximum comfort.
Avatar n tn epinephrine is the same thing (for the purposes of dilating the eye) as neosynephrine. Usually 2.5% is well tolerated. Rarely is 10% used anymore.
Avatar f tn A Dentist told me a long time ago to always tell the dentist to give me a shot WITHOUT epinephrine. In the meantime I got on BP meds which controls my BP but when going to the doctor it still goes up, but not as bad as in the past. I double checked with a new dentist I am seing now and he told me "that he will continue giving me the shots WITHOUT epinephrine, and to remind him whenever I see him even though he wrote it in my chart.
1305767 tn?1361192676 t bad this time because they gave me nitrous but I learned they put epinephrine in the local anesthetic shots (it has something to do with helping the anesthetic last longer) So I'm thinking the epinephrine sends my anxiety level from like a six to a ten. Last November I had a tooth pulled and while the dentist was injecting the shot my heart rate got so high I almost passed out. They put a monitor on my finger and it was about 150! That is just crazy.
Avatar m tn On the 4th day of the amoxy I woke up with hives mostly on arms neck and chest and a little red dwelling around lower left eye (lid swollen) (i stopped the amoxy) I took Benedryl 1x25mg four times 4 hours apart. This seemed to greatly reduce the hives and some were completely gone by the end of the day.
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the forum, Epipen delivers a measured dose of epinephrine (also known as adrenaline) using autoinjector technology, most frequently for the treatment of acute allergic reactions to avoid or treat the onset of anaphylactic shock. In certain cases it can be used to stop local bleeding. Epinephrine is known to act on the uterus through beta 2 receptors and can cause relaxation of the uterus. At term, it can prevent the contraction and delay the labor.
1399363 tn?1462342610 I just got root cannal treatment for 1 teeth last week for the 1 day. The doctor killed the nerve(thats what they told me) temporary filled it and sent me home. Yesterday i went back there and the doctor said they clean up my root cannal and pull out the nerve, filled it and sent me home. I am not sure what exactly they did during the process since i couldn't really see. They told me to come back next week.
Avatar f tn Sounds like hormone shifts causing the mood swings and especially anxiety attacks. Seems we get adrenaline or epinephrine pushes without a quick nor epinephrine response due to hormone changes. I'm been through it. Doctors were no help at first, then I was medicated with a Beta blocker for an entirely different problem (blood pressure and heart rate issues) and wow.....
1817071 tn?1366228243 I have had 2 root canals with local anesthesia without the epinephrine. It is fine..no difference, not a big deal. The only difference is that it wears off a little faster and you may need another injection at some point during the procedure. I would not be talking to the dental nurse anymore about it. Speak to your dentist and tell him your concerns and INSIST that they use anesthetic without epi. If he won't or says that he can't, whatever the reason, change dentists.
Avatar f tn Are you having symptoms since starting the Cymbalta, such as sweating, rapid or uneven heartbeat, muscle rigidity (especially in the legs-cramping or burning in legs or staggering walk)? Cymbalta is in a class of medications called SNRI's. This means that it is a serotonin/nor-epinephrine re-uptake inhibitor. I was put on an SNRI, also after a 20 minute conversation with my doctor. Very shortly I began having symptoms that gradually (a period of a few months) came to a crisis point.
