Avatar f tn By Daniel Stolte, Sarver Heart Center March 10, 2008 A new paramedic resuscitation method called Cardiocerebral Resuscitation, developed at The University of Arizona Sarver Heart Center, has resulted in a threefold increase in the survival rates of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. The results are published in the March 12 issue of one the world’s foremost medical journals, the Journal of the American Medical Association, or JAMA.
Avatar f tn With BP of 140/90 mmHg and head injury it should be avoided. In this condition it may cause increase in BP,increase in heart rate and this may worsen the outcome of the patient.
Avatar m tn Having 1 tiny warts recurrence every year outside anus with surgeon applied. Is it save for preventing transmission during swimming?
967168 tn?1477584489 In August 2009 I went in for an EP Study & ablation for pvc's/vt. During the ablation the dr triggered long sustained runs of polymorphic VT that stopped my heart 3 times. I had no structural heart problems before; just fainting, dizziness, headaches and tons of different arrhythmia's since I was 9.
Avatar f tn He was taken to the resuscitation table and given oxygen and was absolutely fine. It was very scary but docs said they deal with it many times daily.
Avatar f tn Epinephrine is relatively contraindicated in hyperthyroidism as the vascular effects of epinephrine can worsen this condition. A hyperthyroid patient may be more sensitive to the catecholamines and thyrotoxic or cardiotoxic symptoms can occur. Epinephrine is also relatively contraindicated in hypertension due to the risk of worsening this condition. Both hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism can cause hypertension.
Avatar n tn Animal studies have revealed evidence of teratogenicity when epinephrine was given in doses approximately 25 times the usual recommended human dose (on a per kg basis). There are no reports of teratogenicity in humans. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Epinephrine is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.
Avatar f tn Do these drops have enough in it to maybe cause for me to have the same reaction? So far I always got eye drops without epinephrine/or something equal to epinephrine, but this last eye doctor did not want to use any drops at all. He examined my eyes without dialating them.
Avatar m tn Hi, It is a serotonin and nor epinephrine reuptake inhibitor. The name of the neurotransmitter is nor epinephrine it is different from epinephrine. Most of the side effects occur during the period when one is taking the medication. But the important thing to remember is to follow the doctors instructions carefully. To reduce the incidence of side effects it is always started with a low dose and then it is gradually increased.
1047019 tn?1256719961 We DO NOT have SYNTHETIC Epinephrine in our bodies. Any drug that is synthetic has been made this way by man in a lab & it is recognized as poison/unnatural to our bodies...hence this is why it causes reactions in some. The last time I was given it I thought I would die.
Avatar m tn Hello Engrenp, Welcome to our Pain Mangement Community at MedHelp. I am glad that you found us and took the time to post. You certainly have more than you share of medical issues. My heart goes out to you. It sounds like you are fortunate to be here. But when you suffer with chronic pain it doesn't always feel that way. :( Can you describe your pain a bit better? Exactly where is it located? What if anything makes it worse or better?
Avatar n tn A PDA ligation (clamping) will not affect your son's cardiac response to any form of resuscitation, including cardioversion (electrical current applied to the heart). If he does not have other structural heart disease, he is not at higher risk than anyone else for cardiac rhythm abnormalities just because he needed to have his PDA ligated.
Avatar n tn I am now wondering why, when he was brought into the hospital, the team just continued resuscitation attempts and after about 10 minutes the docotr told me they had stopped the resusciation as it was not working. That bit i can understand because the ambulance personnel had been resuscitating for 45 minutes at our home and then all the way to hospital as well..... What i can't understand is my dad had a ruptured heart. No resuscitation was going to work.
4703993 tn?1379768388 2 nmol/L) and epinephrine (0.29 ± 0.09 nmol/L) were normal (1.3 ± 0.1 nmol/L in 77 normal volunteers and 0.34 ± 0.03 nmol/L in 45 normal volunteers). During spontaneous loss of consciousness, all 4 patients had an increase in plasma epinephrine levels (mean 3.8 times baseline), and no change or a decrease in plasma norepinephrine levels (mean 0.86 times baseline), so that the plasma epinephrine:norepinephrine ratio increased substantially (5.3 times baseline).
Avatar f tn It took us 5 minutes to rush her to hospital and have the doctors start heart resuscitation. She has been in a coma since then. The doctors stated that she had mild pneumonia and have treated her for this. The doctors have been unable to diagnose what happened and what led to her heart stopping, however, they now believe that she is conscious but not oriented rather than in a coma. She responds to pain, and her father and I sometimes feel she can hear us and even maybe very slightly see us.
Avatar f tn It's the epinephrine in the anesthetic that causes the racing heart, etc. Next time you're at the dentist and you need/want an anesthetic ask for one WITHOUT epinephrine. The medication generally takes a little longer to "kick in" and wears off faster, but your dentist will work with you for maximum comfort.
Avatar n tn m wondering with my heart problem how dangerous is it to get a dose of epinephrine and how will that affect my heart? I had an epinephrine dose in the early nineties due to a breathing problem, but that was before I was diagnosed with the mvp and atrial misfire.
Avatar f tn Boy o boy am i going to weigh in on this one....no worries...i think the doc is right. I have had 6 root canals plus fillings, etc. and on top of that i have them numb me for the cleanings as well since i am such a baby at the dentist. I am on a beta blocker now and have been for about 3 years after my ablation was done and for a time before.
1305767 tn?1361192676 t bad this time because they gave me nitrous but I learned they put epinephrine in the local anesthetic shots (it has something to do with helping the anesthetic last longer) So I'm thinking the epinephrine sends my anxiety level from like a six to a ten. Last November I had a tooth pulled and while the dentist was injecting the shot my heart rate got so high I almost passed out. They put a monitor on my finger and it was about 150! That is just crazy.
Avatar f tn She suffered cardiac arrest at birth and was without adequate oxygen for 20 minutes after birth (she under went complete resuscitation). Once her resuscitation was complete she spent 72 nearly uncomplicated days in the NICU (our miracle baby!). She was then sent home. Three weeks after being home I noticed clitoral swelling when changing her diaper. Being the nervous mom, I took her into the pediatrician. He immediately did labs and found her estrogen level to be 365 (quite high).
1399363 tn?1462342610 It's possible to get tachycardia from novocaine unless it had epinephrine in it. Have you been getting it each time you went? If so, it may be in your best interests to call your dentist or cardiologist and report your tachycardia.
Avatar m tn I have ME/CFS and I hadnt seen the online warnings that for those of us with ME, anethestics with the epinephrine in them can be very bad and best avoided for those of us with this, so I found this out the hard way. I didnt have any other pain relief except this lidocaine injection so my reaction was certainly from that. It caused me to have a near seizure or a seizure. My legs started majorly jerking, I started twitching all over.
1817071 tn?1366228243 I had a tooth pulled, they used epinephrine. I was in afib with low rate for 8 days. Then afib every 2-3 day. I was given Rythmol as PIP. I gradually have had less afib, but, each one has 100 for rate...I called dr. and asked him what to do....he said I needed ablation and bp monitors were not accurate. I got a new dr. and new dr. did not say anything about the lowered rate. I go to new EP next week. I will ask him.
