Avatar n tn The second trimester is OK to do dental work if necessary. I'm not sure i follow. The root canal has gone bad and you're in pain?? or the tooth has broken and you will require a post and crown to restore the tooth. Either way, it's OK to have novocaine without epinephrine, and only take x-rays if absolutely necessary with double shielding.
Avatar f tn In local anesthetics (like those used in dentistry), it's the epinephrine that's mixed in with the anesthetic that causes the problems for most patients with dysautonomia. There are local anesthetic formulations available without epinephrine, they just last for shorter periods of time and may require higher doses for efficacy.
Avatar f tn which is a stimulant..( it can make your heart race) it is used in dentistry.. for many thyroid patients... it can cause problems... so you should always ask your thyroid doctor about it.. before you go... just to be on the safe side.. also.. your dentist should be aware of ALL conditions you have before any work is done... i dont like it.. i use Mepivicaine. when i have to have it.. no epi.
Avatar f tn Epinephrine is relatively contraindicated in hyperthyroidism as the vascular effects of epinephrine can worsen this condition. A hyperthyroid patient may be more sensitive to the catecholamines and thyrotoxic or cardiotoxic symptoms can occur. Epinephrine is also relatively contraindicated in hypertension due to the risk of worsening this condition. Both hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism can cause hypertension.
Avatar f tn I read your point and find that it was very bad experience for you. Most of the people visit to a dentist who does not have experience in sedation dentistry. It is important to choose a dentist who has good experience in sedation dentistry or a relevant degree. One should study about sedation dentistry to clear the confusions in mind. A lot of guides are available online that will help a lot to know the benefits & procedure of sedation dentistry.
Avatar n tn Animal studies have revealed evidence of teratogenicity when epinephrine was given in doses approximately 25 times the usual recommended human dose (on a per kg basis). There are no reports of teratogenicity in humans. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Epinephrine is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.
Avatar m tn In some parts of the world little effort or even no effort is taken to sterilize dental equipment. Yes it's possible to get Hepatitis C from dental tools that haven't been sterilized. Take the time and ask the dentist how the tools are sterilized. Go to a dentist you know practices sterilizing all the dental tools between patients.
Avatar f tn Do these drops have enough in it to maybe cause for me to have the same reaction? So far I always got eye drops without epinephrine/or something equal to epinephrine, but this last eye doctor did not want to use any drops at all. He examined my eyes without dialating them.
Avatar f tn My son is very strong n hates his hair being cut, eyes being checked n teeth being cleaned. Now has cavaties...anyone have their kids have sediative dentistry. He needs an hour n half worth of work n think might be least traumatic if he is fully sedated? I have no experience.
Avatar n tn It can be effective, but if the dentist uses this technique exclusively I would be cautious. In my opinion, muscle tension is a result of disc displacements in the TMJ and there are many other complicating factors that should not be overlooked. When dentists buy the necessary technology to do NM dentistry they take training to go with it. That training alone is not adequate to treat all the the TMJ problems out there. This has been my experience.
Avatar m tn Hi, It is a serotonin and nor epinephrine reuptake inhibitor. The name of the neurotransmitter is nor epinephrine it is different from epinephrine. Most of the side effects occur during the period when one is taking the medication. But the important thing to remember is to follow the doctors instructions carefully. To reduce the incidence of side effects it is always started with a low dose and then it is gradually increased.

1047019 tn?1256719961 We DO NOT have SYNTHETIC Epinephrine in our bodies. Any drug that is synthetic has been made this way by man in a lab & it is recognized as poison/unnatural to our bodies...hence this is why it causes reactions in some. The last time I was given it I thought I would die.
Avatar n tn yes it is very possible. i have dentistry as # 2 on my list as most common means of transmission after IVDU.
Avatar m tn s ok but the fact that I had to chew on my left side where I have an abscess now my left side is in excruciating pain, my teeth hurt and my face hurts because it is swollen and now I have a puffiness underneath my eye that feels like there's liquid in it. I have no insurance so what should I do?

During spontaneous loss of consciousness, all 4 patients had an increase in plasma epinephrine levels (mean 3.8 times baseline), and no change or a decrease in plasma norepinephrine levels (mean 0.86 times baseline), so that the plasma epinephrine:norepinephrine ratio increased substantially (5.3 times baseline).
Avatar n tn Individual crowns are made differently than crowns that are part of a bridge. the fact that your dentistry was toyed with and adjusted after it was finished in my opinion makes it more prone to failure after it is permanently cemented. For example, it's been in the glazing oven at least one extra time, and it was cut after it was completed---this creates the liklihodd of microfracture in the porcelain. these two things weaken the restorations..
Avatar f tn It's the epinephrine in the anesthetic that causes the racing heart, etc. Next time you're at the dentist and you need/want an anesthetic ask for one WITHOUT epinephrine. The medication generally takes a little longer to "kick in" and wears off faster, but your dentist will work with you for maximum comfort.
Avatar n tn m wondering with my heart problem how dangerous is it to get a dose of epinephrine and how will that affect my heart? I had an epinephrine dose in the early nineties due to a breathing problem, but that was before I was diagnosed with the mvp and atrial misfire.
Avatar f tn Boy o boy am i going to weigh in on this one....no worries...i think the doc is right. I have had 6 root canals plus fillings, etc. and on top of that i have them numb me for the cleanings as well since i am such a baby at the dentist. 1305767 tn?1361192676 t bad this time because they gave me nitrous but I learned they put epinephrine in the local anesthetic shots (it has something to do with helping the anesthetic last longer) So I'm thinking the epinephrine sends my anxiety level from like a six to a ten. Last November I had a tooth pulled and while the dentist was injecting the shot my heart rate got so high I almost passed out. They put a monitor on my finger and it was about 150! That is just crazy.
Avatar n tn Now this misaligned teeth smile looks doesn’t match my appearance aesthetically. One of the reputed dental specialist in a dentistry clinic in Ajax ( Appleton dental ) has whom I had consulted recommended me to wear braces which can lead my teeth properly aligned. I’m totally unaware of this procedure. Which one is the most preferable - the invisalign or traditional braces? Can anyone share their experience who has got braces?
1399363 tn?1462342610 It's possible to get tachycardia from novocaine unless it had epinephrine in it. Have you been getting it each time you went? If so, it may be in your best interests to call your dentist or cardiologist and report your tachycardia.
