Avatar n tn It is very rare to find during HUT and you were lucky that your doctors were there. The prognosis in asystole depends on the etiology of the asystolic rhythm. Good luck.
10894761 tn?1413637884 Simple question for the specialists: in cases of sudden cardiac death, are they all preceded by ventricular fibrillation, or sometimes the heart simply stops beating suddenly without VF? What about other cases? I mean when the heart stops beating because of any other health issue? Is it always VF the mechanism?
Avatar m tn We had one forum member who had cardioversion in the last couple of days. There are several excellent videos on YouTube that demonstrate cardioversion.
Avatar f tn DR WANTS TO DO A PACEMAKER. RESEARCH SHOWS SOME ASYSTOLE IN MOST PEOPLE IS OK. HOW MANY SECONDS OF ASYSTOLE IS SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH TO WARRANT A PM? THE 1ST EPISODE WAS ABOUT 5 SECONDS WHEN I ASKED THE LAST TIMES HOW LONG THEY WERE I WAS TOLD "LONG" I WAS FREAKED OUT SO I DIDNT ASK AGAIN. BOYFRIEND WILL GO WITH ME NEXT TIME. DONT WANT A PM UNLESS ABSOLUTLY NECESSARY. WHEN THEY IMPLANTED LOOP MONITOR THEY GAVE ME MRSA SO IM PRONE TO GETTING IT AGAIN.
Avatar n tn i was actually in the ICU. thanfully i had no brain damage but i was so confused, finally my cardiologist came in and told me what happened. for some reason my heart did not take well to the adenosine and i actually went into asystole for 30 whole seconds. he told me that they quickly gave me an atropine IV and i opened my eyes..i do not remember any of that. they took me to the ICU for observation and i just got back home.
Avatar m tn s unusual for a person not to spontaneously recover once the table is returned to supine position. Was your heart in asystole or did they say you went into some other unstable rhythm (like v-tach)? Did they have to do CPR or use the paddles or what to bring you back? Why would they do three if something that serious happened on the first tilt table test? When were the other two? Were they done by the same doctor that did the first one? Have you had other autonomic testing besides the TTT?
Avatar m tn The problem I've had is that suddenly I lose a palpable pulse (I can't feel it in my hands/wrists or in my carotid arteries in my neck), my vision gets darker, and I get dizzy. It lasts 4-9 seconds, though I can still stand up and walk around. When it happens my body feels completely still, then suddenly everything returns to normal.
Avatar f tn Epinephrine is relatively contraindicated in hyperthyroidism as the vascular effects of epinephrine can worsen this condition. A hyperthyroid patient may be more sensitive to the catecholamines and thyrotoxic or cardiotoxic symptoms can occur. Epinephrine is also relatively contraindicated in hypertension due to the risk of worsening this condition. Both hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism can cause hypertension.
Avatar n tn Animal studies have revealed evidence of teratogenicity when epinephrine was given in doses approximately 25 times the usual recommended human dose (on a per kg basis). There are no reports of teratogenicity in humans. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Epinephrine is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.
Avatar f tn Do these drops have enough in it to maybe cause for me to have the same reaction? So far I always got eye drops without epinephrine/or something equal to epinephrine, but this last eye doctor did not want to use any drops at all. He examined my eyes without dialating them.
Avatar m tn Hi, It is a serotonin and nor epinephrine reuptake inhibitor. The name of the neurotransmitter is nor epinephrine it is different from epinephrine. Most of the side effects occur during the period when one is taking the medication. But the important thing to remember is to follow the doctors instructions carefully. To reduce the incidence of side effects it is always started with a low dose and then it is gradually increased.
1047019 tn?1256719961 We DO NOT have SYNTHETIC Epinephrine in our bodies. Any drug that is synthetic has been made this way by man in a lab & it is recognized as poison/unnatural to our bodies...hence this is why it causes reactions in some. The last time I was given it I thought I would die.
Avatar n tn My son was diagnosed with NCS two years ago(then 14), he had a tilt test where in the first two minutes of the test he passed out and went Asystole for about 1/2 minute. They prescribed midodrine, which he was on for roughly 1yr., he claimed it made him feel worse, He is very active (now 16), plays varsity football, is a varsity starter wrestler, and plays track (shot put, javelin, and discus). His Dr.
4703993 tn?1379768388 2 nmol/L) and epinephrine (0.29 ± 0.09 nmol/L) were normal (1.3 ± 0.1 nmol/L in 77 normal volunteers and 0.34 ± 0.03 nmol/L in 45 normal volunteers). During spontaneous loss of consciousness, all 4 patients had an increase in plasma epinephrine levels (mean 3.8 times baseline), and no change or a decrease in plasma norepinephrine levels (mean 0.86 times baseline), so that the plasma epinephrine:norepinephrine ratio increased substantially (5.3 times baseline).
Avatar f tn It's the epinephrine in the anesthetic that causes the racing heart, etc. Next time you're at the dentist and you need/want an anesthetic ask for one WITHOUT epinephrine. The medication generally takes a little longer to "kick in" and wears off faster, but your dentist will work with you for maximum comfort.
Avatar n tn m wondering with my heart problem how dangerous is it to get a dose of epinephrine and how will that affect my heart? I had an epinephrine dose in the early nineties due to a breathing problem, but that was before I was diagnosed with the mvp and atrial misfire.
Avatar f tn Boy o boy am i going to weigh in on this one....no worries...i think the doc is right. I have had 6 root canals plus fillings, etc. and on top of that i have them numb me for the cleanings as well since i am such a baby at the dentist. I am on a beta blocker now and have been for about 3 years after my ablation was done and for a time before.
1305767 tn?1361192676 t bad this time because they gave me nitrous but I learned they put epinephrine in the local anesthetic shots (it has something to do with helping the anesthetic last longer) So I'm thinking the epinephrine sends my anxiety level from like a six to a ten. Last November I had a tooth pulled and while the dentist was injecting the shot my heart rate got so high I almost passed out. They put a monitor on my finger and it was about 150! That is just crazy.
1399363 tn?1462342610 It's possible to get tachycardia from novocaine unless it had epinephrine in it. Have you been getting it each time you went? If so, it may be in your best interests to call your dentist or cardiologist and report your tachycardia.
Avatar m tn I have ME/CFS and I hadnt seen the online warnings that for those of us with ME, anethestics with the epinephrine in them can be very bad and best avoided for those of us with this, so I found this out the hard way. I didnt have any other pain relief except this lidocaine injection so my reaction was certainly from that. It caused me to have a near seizure or a seizure. My legs started majorly jerking, I started twitching all over.
1817071 tn?1366228243 I had a tooth pulled, they used epinephrine. I was in afib with low rate for 8 days. Then afib every 2-3 day. I was given Rythmol as PIP. I gradually have had less afib, but, each one has 100 for rate...I called dr. and asked him what to do....he said I needed ablation and bp monitors were not accurate. I got a new dr. and new dr. did not say anything about the lowered rate. I go to new EP next week. I will ask him.
