Avatar f tn Boy o boy am i going to weigh in on this one....no worries...i think the doc is right. I have had 6 root canals plus fillings, etc. and on top of that i have them numb me for the cleanings as well since i am such a baby at the dentist. I am on a beta blocker now and have been for about 3 years after my ablation was done and for a time before.
Avatar n tn For those who are allergic to preservative substance, a special request to manufacturer of local anesthetics to supply anesthetics without preservatives may be necessary. Epinephrine has nothing to do with allergy. Short-term administration generally causes no harm to the body.In addtion, antibiotics is not always required during root canal procedure.
Avatar f tn In local anesthetics (like those used in dentistry), it's the epinephrine that's mixed in with the anesthetic that causes the problems for most patients with dysautonomia. There are local anesthetic formulations available without epinephrine, they just last for shorter periods of time and may require higher doses for efficacy.
Avatar f tn It probably isn't the lidocaine, it's the epinephrine that is in the lidocaine. You can ask your dentist to use an anesthetic without epinephrine, I have had tons of dental work and always ask for that. Dentist doesn't mind at all and I've never had any problems. It doesn't last as long but if you start to feel anything while they are working the dentist will just give you more. I have done fine with it.
Avatar f tn it just might be from the epinephrine in it. He could be sensitive to it. I am and they say that it is a normal reaction but I still don't like it. Tell them you want your son to have carbocaine or anything else without the epi. If you decide to go to another dentist tell them what happened to him and say you don't want him to have it.
Avatar n tn they tried to calm me down quickly to continue with the procedure , i was still a little out of it, but they put in the IV back in my arm to put me under as soon as they could to start the surgery. this time it was normal and i just fell asleep and woke up with gauze in my mouth. there was no nitrous administered the second time. so it was either nitrous, or the mix of nitrous and the anesthesia combined, at least for me. my body was really sore the next day, stomach and leg muscles.
Avatar n tn There is no need to be anxious over having oral surgery with local anesthetic. It is your friend...remember that. Heck, I'd pull a tooth on a patient with no anesthesia if he or she could take it. I won't feel a thing. The anesthesia is available for the comfort of the patient. As far as the use of "caine" anesthetics, you are painting with too broad a brush.
Avatar n tn 5% ephnephrine, 1% cyclogel, 1% tropicamide and some anesthetics. Whenever someone told me that I would have them come in the office. We would put one drop ONLY of the steroid we were going to use NOTHING ELSE and wait 30 minutes. Never a problem. Oral steroids different issue as many people can't take them. Your eye doctor office seems pretty 'dug in' If they would agree you might try that. ONLY use the steroid drop.
1558471 tn?1331222035 Your tachycardia in the period just after your injection was probably a reaction to the epinephrine that is used often used in these injections to help keep the anesthetic (Carbocaine or Lidocaine) in the area during and after the procedure. Epi can really cause the heart to race.
Avatar f tn Epinephrine is relatively contraindicated in hyperthyroidism as the vascular effects of epinephrine can worsen this condition. A hyperthyroid patient may be more sensitive to the catecholamines and thyrotoxic or cardiotoxic symptoms can occur. Epinephrine is also relatively contraindicated in hypertension due to the risk of worsening this condition. Both hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism can cause hypertension.
Avatar n tn Animal studies have revealed evidence of teratogenicity when epinephrine was given in doses approximately 25 times the usual recommended human dose (on a per kg basis). There are no reports of teratogenicity in humans. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Epinephrine is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.
Avatar f tn Do these drops have enough in it to maybe cause for me to have the same reaction? So far I always got eye drops without epinephrine/or something equal to epinephrine, but this last eye doctor did not want to use any drops at all. He examined my eyes without dialating them.
Avatar m tn Hi, It is a serotonin and nor epinephrine reuptake inhibitor. The name of the neurotransmitter is nor epinephrine it is different from epinephrine. Most of the side effects occur during the period when one is taking the medication. But the important thing to remember is to follow the doctors instructions carefully. To reduce the incidence of side effects it is always started with a low dose and then it is gradually increased.
1047019 tn?1256719961 We DO NOT have SYNTHETIC Epinephrine in our bodies. Any drug that is synthetic has been made this way by man in a lab & it is recognized as poison/unnatural to our bodies...hence this is why it causes reactions in some. The last time I was given it I thought I would die.
Avatar f tn Although this is an old thread - and the poster is long gone - I appreciate the information. We learn from one another! Thanks for sharing!
Avatar m tn I slept for about 2 hours and as soon as I woke up I was abnormally acting like a drunk. That being ended up in a couple of hours but unfortunately some symptoms and problems remained. From the awakening I felt like if I wasn't the same I was before the exam; I soon had big problems concentrating, memorizing, thinking, thinking logically; issues observing details, strong passiveness (tiredness) from the morning until the evening, temporal disorientation etc.
4703993 tn?1379768388 2 nmol/L) and epinephrine (0.29 ± 0.09 nmol/L) were normal (1.3 ± 0.1 nmol/L in 77 normal volunteers and 0.34 ± 0.03 nmol/L in 45 normal volunteers). During spontaneous loss of consciousness, all 4 patients had an increase in plasma epinephrine levels (mean 3.8 times baseline), and no change or a decrease in plasma norepinephrine levels (mean 0.86 times baseline), so that the plasma epinephrine:norepinephrine ratio increased substantially (5.3 times baseline).
Avatar f tn It's the epinephrine in the anesthetic that causes the racing heart, etc. Next time you're at the dentist and you need/want an anesthetic ask for one WITHOUT epinephrine. The medication generally takes a little longer to "kick in" and wears off faster, but your dentist will work with you for maximum comfort.
Avatar n tn I broke a bone in my hand and they are going to put a screw in it. It is going to be a local anesthetic with the surgery being at 1pm. The doctor told me that the procedure lasts and about an hour. My question is can I drink alcohol that night, say around 8pm. What side effects will happen with just a local anesthetic. Thanks.
Avatar n tn m wondering with my heart problem how dangerous is it to get a dose of epinephrine and how will that affect my heart? I had an epinephrine dose in the early nineties due to a breathing problem, but that was before I was diagnosed with the mvp and atrial misfire.
1305767 tn?1361192676 t bad this time because they gave me nitrous but I learned they put epinephrine in the local anesthetic shots (it has something to do with helping the anesthetic last longer) So I'm thinking the epinephrine sends my anxiety level from like a six to a ten. Last November I had a tooth pulled and while the dentist was injecting the shot my heart rate got so high I almost passed out. They put a monitor on my finger and it was about 150! That is just crazy.
1399363 tn?1462342610 It's possible to get tachycardia from novocaine unless it had epinephrine in it. Have you been getting it each time you went? If so, it may be in your best interests to call your dentist or cardiologist and report your tachycardia.
Avatar m tn I have ME/CFS and I hadnt seen the online warnings that for those of us with ME, anethestics with the epinephrine in them can be very bad and best avoided for those of us with this, so I found this out the hard way. I didnt have any other pain relief except this lidocaine injection so my reaction was certainly from that. It caused me to have a near seizure or a seizure. My legs started majorly jerking, I started twitching all over.
1817071 tn?1366228243 I had a tooth pulled, they used epinephrine. I was in afib with low rate for 8 days. Then afib every 2-3 day. I was given Rythmol as PIP. I gradually have had less afib, but, each one has 100 for rate...I called dr. and asked him what to do....he said I needed ablation and bp monitors were not accurate. I got a new dr. and new dr. did not say anything about the lowered rate. I go to new EP next week. I will ask him.
Avatar m tn s causing the elevated AKLP) and an idea about whether anesthetics wold be safe -or will be in the future, if the basic condition is treated successfully.
