Epinephrine for hypotension

Common Questions and Answers about Epinephrine for hypotension

epipen

Avatar f tn Contraindications for the use of lidocaine include hypotension and bradycardia. Hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism can cause hypotension; hypothyroidism can cause bradycardia. Epinephrine is relatively contraindicated in hyperthyroidism as the vascular effects of epinephrine can worsen this condition. A hyperthyroid patient may be more sensitive to the catecholamines and thyrotoxic or cardiotoxic symptoms can occur.
Avatar m tn The side effects stated are for the duration for the prescription period or are they long lasting ?. my doctor has recommended that i take it for 6 months (pardon me for asking such questions as i am curious to know as much as possible before i start the medication.thanks again for your time.
Avatar m tn Thnx for the advice is there any medication for vasovagal and also i have haypotention and bradycardia and is Hypotension related too??
Avatar m tn Other tests which may help are round the clock sugar monitoring, holter to rule out arrhythmia and situational hypotension/hypertension, blood tests for electrolytes, vitamin B12, vitamin D and hyperparathyroidism. Some sleep disturbances can also make you feel jittery during the day. So, it may be worthwhile to undergo sleep studies if no other cause is found. Please discuss with your doctor. Take care!
Avatar f tn ve yet to find a medical explanation for it other than our bodies may be releasing epinephrine or nor-epinephrine causing an adrenaline rush. Has the Cleveland Clinic done any investigation into this at all? There are an awful lot of people with this problem from what I can tell. Besides avoiding the triggers, is there anything that can be done to prevent it from happening? Would lectin blockers do anything? Are beta blockers helpful in treating it if you do over do it?
Avatar f tn In my experience, the anesthetic without epinephrine is shorter acting, but it's been plenty for me for fillings and if it wears off, they can just give you another shot, no problem. I wouldn't worry about that at all.
Avatar n tn There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Epinephrine is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.
Avatar f tn So far I always got eye drops without epinephrine/or something equal to epinephrine, but this last eye doctor did not want to use any drops at all. He examined my eyes without dialating them.
Avatar f tn I feel king of dumb asking this, but has anyone here had an allergic reaction to bees that comes back hours later? After getting stung by bees I usually have about a 20-30 minute "window" to get to my epi shot and benedryl -my reaction is unusual in that I get dizzy, my blood pressure crashes, and my throat and chest get really tight. -No rashes or redness...
591470 tn?1218975186 Hello Luvcthateba, Migraine associated with asthma or symptomatic orthostatic hypotension is a particularly difficult subgroup to manage. Metoclopramide is a useful pharmacological agent for orthostatic hypotension .Metoclopramide relieves recurrent syncope as well as migraine attacks. Metoclopramide possibly keeps migraine in remission. You should consult your neurologist regarding this. Also try to relax,do not be anxious and practice meditation. Refer http://www.ingentaconnect.
1047019 tn?1256719961 More than likely you didn't have an allergic reaction, it's so rare for that to happen. The dentist probably injected the novacaine directly into the vein instead of into the gum like they were supposed to. This happened to me 2 years ago and I seriously thought I was going to do. If it wasn't injected into your vein then you are probably just hypersensitive to it. Your allergy to wheat and gluten probably has nothing to do with the novacaine.
Avatar n tn s our (perpetual work-in-progress, pardon our dust) treatment page for dysautonomia in general—this is for all forms of dysautonomia, so of course many of these meds would not be appropriate for OH per se: http://www.medhelp.org/health_pages/Neurological-Disorders/Dysautonomia-Treatments/show/171?cid=196 If you surf around the Mayo OH page and have any questions about other information on there (such as diagnostic tests that you have or haven't had), feel free to ask away.
Avatar f tn I will stand up quickly or just regularly and my head will rush...i black out for 3-5 seconds...i try not to fall and when its done in seconds..my whole top of my head throbs in pain for about 20-30 seconds afterward. What is happening to me?
Avatar f tn re at the dentist and you need/want an anesthetic ask for one WITHOUT epinephrine. The medication generally takes a little longer to "kick in" and wears off faster, but your dentist will work with you for maximum comfort.
Avatar f tn When I stand up suddenly and quickly, I sometimes lose my vision for a few seconds and my head feels fuzzy plus my eyes feel a little puffy. The blackness starts from around the edges and it doesn't always manage to cover up my entire sight, but when it does, it usually lasts longer. Is this an eye problem? Or is it just because there wasn't enough blood in my head? Does that mean there is a problem somewhere else in my body?
Avatar f tn Every time after laying down even for a little bit, then standing up I get real dizzy. It once made me pass out for just a second, making me fall to the floor. When I stand up, I have to sit down or move my head down in order to get the dizziness to go away. This happens when I wake up and when I'm just watching TV and then standing up. Does anyone have an idea what's the cause of this and whether or not I should see a doctor?
Avatar n tn Epinephrine is basically like adrenaline and for an adregenic afibber such as my self it is a definate no-no. I even have to ask for the Epi free form of novacaine at the dentist office. I would definately see a Dr and tell him my contidions and see what they say. De sure to tell him about your MVP.
Avatar f tn Just ask to have a shot without it, and they will give it to you. They have to have these shots available (without epinephrine) for people who have serious heart problems, blood pressure problems when having high anxiety like some people have when they go to the dentist.
Avatar f tn I had similar symptoms for years - the hot flashes, insomnia, mood swings, terrible periods and some weight gain. I kept telling my doctor I felt like I was heading towards menopause. The blood test always came back normal. Even up to a few months before my last period, I was sure menopause was just around the corner. The blood test said everything was normal. Sure enough, a few months after my annual exam, I had my final period. Everything has mellowed out and I feel wonderful.
1305767 tn?1361192676 t bad this time because they gave me nitrous but I learned they put epinephrine in the local anesthetic shots (it has something to do with helping the anesthetic last longer) So I'm thinking the epinephrine sends my anxiety level from like a six to a ten. Last November I had a tooth pulled and while the dentist was injecting the shot my heart rate got so high I almost passed out. They put a monitor on my finger and it was about 150! That is just crazy.
1481176 tn?1291392092 Is this something that I am just going to have to learn to live with? My search for a prognosis for autonomic dysfunction on the internet has not been very encouraging. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the forum, Epipen delivers a measured dose of epinephrine (also known as adrenaline) using autoinjector technology, most frequently for the treatment of acute allergic reactions to avoid or treat the onset of anaphylactic shock. In certain cases it can be used to stop local bleeding. Epinephrine is known to act on the uterus through beta 2 receptors and can cause relaxation of the uterus. At term, it can prevent the contraction and delay the labor.
1399363 tn?1462342610 i have been experiancing tachycardia and palpitation for years for unknown reason (doctors still couldnt find it but it's not psychologycal problem) and on beta-blocker. I just got root cannal treatment for 1 teeth last week for the 1 day. The doctor killed the nerve(thats what they told me) temporary filled it and sent me home. Yesterday i went back there and the doctor said they clean up my root cannal and pull out the nerve, filled it and sent me home.
Avatar m tn I have ME/CFS and I hadnt seen the online warnings that for those of us with ME, anethestics with the epinephrine in them can be very bad and best avoided for those of us with this, so I found this out the hard way. I didnt have any other pain relief except this lidocaine injection so my reaction was certainly from that. It caused me to have a near seizure or a seizure. My legs started majorly jerking, I started twitching all over.
