Avatar n tn The pulmonologist states this test is not to be trusted as it was done 5 days after bronchoscopy. The bronchoscopy showed bronchomalacia in both bronchs and significant inflammation. The pulmonologist does not feel this is asthma related. The cultures grew out H-flu. As she has been treated twice with antibx for a chronic wheeze/congestion within the last 5months the pulmonologist has decided not to treat. He is also weaning her off Advair 500/50, she was on it bid now once a day.
Avatar n tn Hi, My son has just come out of Intensive Care for the second time and has severe croup. I too am looking for answers. He has seen an ENT, cardiologist, respiratory specialist all with no answers. I can't sleep at night for fear of an attack. He is on pulmicort nebs twice a day, Intal forte, nasonex and maybe singulair if decided by drs this week. Any advice would be so welcomed.
Avatar n tn In this regard, culture of sputum or of lung secretions encountered during bronchoscopy, especially culture for TB, could also be diagnostically important. Evaluation with specific attention to the night sweats and your general symptom of “feeling bad” a search for infection could be done through blood testing by an Internal Medicine specialist or a Family Practice physician. I suggest that would be a good place to start.
Avatar f tn I had to get stitches last night, and was given 5-6 shots of epinephrine and lidocane. I told the intake nurse I was taking synthroid (which I presume implies thyroid problems). I felt a little "unusual" afterward (pounding heart, feeling calm and detached..), and was googling the side effects of the shot.. an article said this: "Additionally, epinephrine and lidocaine usually aren’t used in patients with thyroid disease, or disease of the kidneys or liver.
Avatar f tn In my experience, the anesthetic without epinephrine is shorter acting, but it's been plenty for me for fillings and if it wears off, they can just give you another shot, no problem. I wouldn't worry about that at all.
Avatar f tn An ENT cannot do a bronchoscopy. They can scope the upper throat and get a visual of the vocal cords, but that is as far as an ENT can treat or see. A bronchoscopy requires the patient to be heavily sedated or put under general anesthisea then a PULMONOLOGIST does a scope of the entire lungs. This procedure can only be done by a pulmonologist, in a hospital setting, and under some level of sedation. Bottom line, you didn't have a bronchoscopy.
Avatar n tn There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Epinephrine is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.
Avatar m tn The side effects stated are for the duration for the prescription period or are they long lasting ?. my doctor has recommended that i take it for 6 months (pardon me for asking such questions as i am curious to know as much as possible before i start the medication.thanks again for your time.
Avatar f tn So far I always got eye drops without epinephrine/or something equal to epinephrine, but this last eye doctor did not want to use any drops at all. He examined my eyes without dialating them.
Avatar n tn It would be important to look for an infectious cause, the bronchoscopy would also help obtaining samples to check if microorganisms are present. There are also benign masses that may be found, the biopsy could have showed if this was the case. could it be possible that all the bleeding is due to the coumadin? without the bleeding, are there other symptoms associated with the lung such as shortness of breath, painful breathing.
1432175 tn?1385737021 had a colonoscopy&esophagastroduodenoscopy/bronchoscopy and both showed nothing. still having loose stool. not as bad as before. but loosing weight and hair. i dont eat much because not much agrees with me. could it be a oil in or prepaird in food that is bothing me? i cant figure it out! help!!
1047019 tn?1256719961 More than likely you didn't have an allergic reaction, it's so rare for that to happen. The dentist probably injected the novacaine directly into the vein instead of into the gum like they were supposed to. This happened to me 2 years ago and I seriously thought I was going to do. If it wasn't injected into your vein then you are probably just hypersensitive to it. Your allergy to wheat and gluten probably has nothing to do with the novacaine.
Avatar f tn Thank you for yr comment... Yes he has had two Bronchoscopy..that is how they found out what he had... I have no idea if he is anemic...??? should I ask for him 2 be tested..? I have just gt another letter in mail and they want hime to have another CT scan under GA... not sure what this can do.. Thank you..
Avatar f tn re at the dentist and you need/want an anesthetic ask for one WITHOUT epinephrine. The medication generally takes a little longer to "kick in" and wears off faster, but your dentist will work with you for maximum comfort.
Avatar f tn but to Portland VA hospital they schedule a VAT surgery for node but do another bronchoscopy on June 23 , this one they aspirate the same lymphs in my left lung and get a piece of the nodule. Now i have stage 3a lung cancer ,i have no symptoms even after Mountain biking or trail running 60-90 min 6 days a week I am not doing chemo/Radiation treatment we are from Hawaii but this has all happened in Corvallis OR. We are going back to Hawaii the end of July, I will reach out to Mayo AZ.
Avatar n tn Epinephrine is basically like adrenaline and for an adregenic afibber such as my self it is a definate no-no. I even have to ask for the Epi free form of novacaine at the dentist office. I would definately see a Dr and tell him my contidions and see what they say. De sure to tell him about your MVP.
Avatar f tn Just ask to have a shot without it, and they will give it to you. They have to have these shots available (without epinephrine) for people who have serious heart problems, blood pressure problems when having high anxiety like some people have when they go to the dentist.
1643112 tn?1301654865 I was diagnosed after a CT scan for kidney stones caught the lower part of my lungs where nodules were seen along with swollen lymph nodes. A repeat showed that the lymph nodes in the mid part of my chest were very enlarged. I had been having a dry violet cough, extreme fatigue, shortness of breath, and joint pains. I was sent to a pulmonologist who measured my lung functions which were decreased and did a bronchoscopy to get a definative diagnosis.
Avatar n tn Can you fill us in on what tests have already been done? That would be very helpful. Chest x-ray? Chest CTscan? Sinus CT? Bronchoscopy? What kind of blood work? Allergy testing? Also what medications are you on and what has been tried? Thanks. I would love to give you some thoughts if I had moreinformation.
Avatar f tn I had similar symptoms for years - the hot flashes, insomnia, mood swings, terrible periods and some weight gain. I kept telling my doctor I felt like I was heading towards menopause. The blood test always came back normal. Even up to a few months before my last period, I was sure menopause was just around the corner. The blood test said everything was normal. Sure enough, a few months after my annual exam, I had my final period. Everything has mellowed out and I feel wonderful.
1305767 tn?1361192676 t bad this time because they gave me nitrous but I learned they put epinephrine in the local anesthetic shots (it has something to do with helping the anesthetic last longer) So I'm thinking the epinephrine sends my anxiety level from like a six to a ten. Last November I had a tooth pulled and while the dentist was injecting the shot my heart rate got so high I almost passed out. They put a monitor on my finger and it was about 150! That is just crazy.
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the forum, Epipen delivers a measured dose of epinephrine (also known as adrenaline) using autoinjector technology, most frequently for the treatment of acute allergic reactions to avoid or treat the onset of anaphylactic shock. In certain cases it can be used to stop local bleeding. Epinephrine is known to act on the uterus through beta 2 receptors and can cause relaxation of the uterus. At term, it can prevent the contraction and delay the labor.
