During a Head Up Tilt Table test recently I experienced syncope and asystole for over 60 seconds. It is my understanding that this is extremely rare (CPR and saline induced the recovery) and I was fitted with a pacemaker. I'm not on any medications, and feel fine, however I am concerned that there should be further testing or followup.
DR WANTS TO DO A PACEMAKER. RESEARCH SHOWS SOME ASYSTOLE IN MOST PEOPLE IS OK. HOW MANY SECONDS OF ASYSTOLE IS SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH TO WARRANT A PM? THE 1ST EPISODE WAS ABOUT 5 SECONDS WHEN I ASKED THE LAST TIMES HOW LONG THEY WERE I WAS TOLD "LONG" I WAS FREAKED OUT SO I DIDNT ASK AGAIN. BOYFRIEND WILL GO WITH ME NEXT TIME. DONT WANT A PM UNLESS ABSOLUTLY NECESSARY. WHEN THEY IMPLANTED LOOP MONITOR THEY GAVE ME MRSA SO IM PRONE TO GETTING IT AGAIN.
This is because once you give it, all the coronary artery will dilate and your heart will go to aystole for 20 sec. Asystole here is the time for calcium channel and sodium channel to resync with SA node in the atrium. After 20 sec, then the SA node strt initiate the impulse which pump again the heart.
500mms on his qt he then had an exercise test done and collapsed after his heart rate went upt o 200 bpm ,but when he was slowing down he went asystole for 15seconds then seemed ok but needed to have the reveal fitted so they could await genetic blood results he has now set this of on 3 occasions, on one occasion he had 1 asystole over night whilst asleep for 10secs, had a heart rate of 228bpm on another and has been up around the 200 bpm on 2 occasions whilst walking up stairs we are getting ve
I had to get stitches last night, and was given 5-6 shots of epinephrine and lidocane. I told the intake nurse I was taking synthroid (which I presume implies thyroid problems). I felt a little "unusual" afterward (pounding heart, feeling calm and detached..), and was googling the side effects of the shot.. an article said this:
"Additionally, epinephrine and lidocaine usually aren’t used in patients with thyroid disease, or disease of the kidneys or liver.
In my experience, the anesthetic without epinephrine is shorter acting, but it's been plenty for me for fillings and if it wears off, they can just give you another shot, no problem. I wouldn't worry about that at all.
There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Epinephrine is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.
So far I always got eye drops without epinephrine/or something equal to epinephrine, but this last eye doctor did not want to use any drops at all. He examined my eyes without dialating them.
I would suggest consulting a neurologist for a detailed evaluation. After a specific cause is identified, it can be managed accordingly.

re at the dentist and you need/want an anesthetic ask for one WITHOUT epinephrine. The medication generally takes a little longer to "kick in" and wears off faster, but your dentist will work with you for maximum comfort.
Epinephrine is basically like adrenaline and for an adregenic afibber such as my self it is a definate no-no. I even have to ask for the Epi free form of novacaine at the dentist office.
I would definately see a Dr and tell him my contidions and see what they say.

Just ask to have a shot without it, and they will give it to you. They have to have these shots available (without epinephrine) for people who have serious heart problems, blood pressure problems when having high anxiety like some people have when they go to the dentist.
I had similar symptoms for years - the hot flashes, insomnia, mood swings, terrible periods and some weight gain. I kept telling my doctor I felt like I was heading towards menopause. The blood test always came back normal. Even up to a few months before my last period, I was sure menopause was just around the corner. The blood test said everything was normal. I have ME/CFS and I hadnt seen the online warnings that for those of us with ME, anethestics with the epinephrine in them can be very bad and best avoided for those of us with this, so I found this out the hard way.
I didnt have any other pain relief except this lidocaine injection so my reaction was certainly from that. It caused me to have a near seizure or a seizure. My legs started majorly jerking, I started twitching all over.
