967168 tn?1477584489 I've read quite a bit on asystole now; seems weird that the protocol is to give epinephrine every 3-5 minutes yet they shocked me with 360j instead of giving me it this really makes me wonder what happened because I remember him telling me my heart stopped and I flat lined the first time he hit the spot in the bottom thin underside of the heart. unless epi is administered you don't survive asystole - maybe my life is just a dream?!
Avatar n tn During a Head Up Tilt Table test recently I experienced syncope and asystole for over 60 seconds. It is my understanding that this is extremely rare (CPR and saline induced the recovery) and I was fitted with a pacemaker. I'm not on any medications, and feel fine, however I am concerned that there should be further testing or followup.
Avatar f tn DR WANTS TO DO A PACEMAKER. RESEARCH SHOWS SOME ASYSTOLE IN MOST PEOPLE IS OK. HOW MANY SECONDS OF ASYSTOLE IS SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH TO WARRANT A PM? THE 1ST EPISODE WAS ABOUT 5 SECONDS WHEN I ASKED THE LAST TIMES HOW LONG THEY WERE I WAS TOLD "LONG" I WAS FREAKED OUT SO I DIDNT ASK AGAIN. BOYFRIEND WILL GO WITH ME NEXT TIME. DONT WANT A PM UNLESS ABSOLUTLY NECESSARY. WHEN THEY IMPLANTED LOOP MONITOR THEY GAVE ME MRSA SO IM PRONE TO GETTING IT AGAIN.
10894761 tn?1413637884 Simple question for the specialists: in cases of sudden cardiac death, are they all preceded by ventricular fibrillation, or sometimes the heart simply stops beating suddenly without VF? What about other cases? I mean when the heart stops beating because of any other health issue? Is it always VF the mechanism?
Avatar n tn This is because once you give it, all the coronary artery will dilate and your heart will go to aystole for 20 sec. Asystole here is the time for calcium channel and sodium channel to resync with SA node in the atrium. After 20 sec, then the SA node strt initiate the impulse which pump again the heart.
Avatar m tn 500mms on his qt he then had an exercise test done and collapsed after his heart rate went upt o 200 bpm ,but when he was slowing down he went asystole for 15seconds then seemed ok but needed to have the reveal fitted so they could await genetic blood results he has now set this of on 3 occasions, on one occasion he had 1 asystole over night whilst asleep for 10secs, had a heart rate of 228bpm on another and has been up around the 200 bpm on 2 occasions whilst walking up stairs we are getting ve
Avatar f tn I had to get stitches last night, and was given 5-6 shots of epinephrine and lidocane. I told the intake nurse I was taking synthroid (which I presume implies thyroid problems). I felt a little "unusual" afterward (pounding heart, feeling calm and detached..), and was googling the side effects of the shot.. an article said this: "Additionally, epinephrine and lidocaine usually aren’t used in patients with thyroid disease, or disease of the kidneys or liver.
Avatar f tn In my experience, the anesthetic without epinephrine is shorter acting, but it's been plenty for me for fillings and if it wears off, they can just give you another shot, no problem. I wouldn't worry about that at all.
Avatar n tn There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Epinephrine is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.
Avatar m tn The side effects stated are for the duration for the prescription period or are they long lasting ?. my doctor has recommended that i take it for 6 months (pardon me for asking such questions as i am curious to know as much as possible before i start the medication.thanks again for your time.
Avatar f tn So far I always got eye drops without epinephrine/or something equal to epinephrine, but this last eye doctor did not want to use any drops at all. He examined my eyes without dialating them.
Avatar n tn I would suggest consulting a neurologist for a detailed evaluation. After a specific cause is identified, it can be managed accordingly. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar n tn My son was diagnosed with NCS two years ago(then 14), he had a tilt test where in the first two minutes of the test he passed out and went Asystole for about 1/2 minute. They prescribed midodrine, which he was on for roughly 1yr., he claimed it made him feel worse, He is very active (now 16), plays varsity football, is a varsity starter wrestler, and plays track (shot put, javelin, and discus). His Dr.
1047019 tn?1256719961 More than likely you didn't have an allergic reaction, it's so rare for that to happen. The dentist probably injected the novacaine directly into the vein instead of into the gum like they were supposed to. This happened to me 2 years ago and I seriously thought I was going to do. If it wasn't injected into your vein then you are probably just hypersensitive to it. Your allergy to wheat and gluten probably has nothing to do with the novacaine.
Avatar f tn re at the dentist and you need/want an anesthetic ask for one WITHOUT epinephrine. The medication generally takes a little longer to "kick in" and wears off faster, but your dentist will work with you for maximum comfort.
Avatar n tn Epinephrine is basically like adrenaline and for an adregenic afibber such as my self it is a definate no-no. I even have to ask for the Epi free form of novacaine at the dentist office. I would definately see a Dr and tell him my contidions and see what they say. De sure to tell him about your MVP.
Avatar f tn Just ask to have a shot without it, and they will give it to you. They have to have these shots available (without epinephrine) for people who have serious heart problems, blood pressure problems when having high anxiety like some people have when they go to the dentist.
Avatar f tn I had similar symptoms for years - the hot flashes, insomnia, mood swings, terrible periods and some weight gain. I kept telling my doctor I felt like I was heading towards menopause. The blood test always came back normal. Even up to a few months before my last period, I was sure menopause was just around the corner. The blood test said everything was normal. Sure enough, a few months after my annual exam, I had my final period. Everything has mellowed out and I feel wonderful.
1305767 tn?1361192676 t bad this time because they gave me nitrous but I learned they put epinephrine in the local anesthetic shots (it has something to do with helping the anesthetic last longer) So I'm thinking the epinephrine sends my anxiety level from like a six to a ten. Last November I had a tooth pulled and while the dentist was injecting the shot my heart rate got so high I almost passed out. They put a monitor on my finger and it was about 150! That is just crazy.
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the forum, Epipen delivers a measured dose of epinephrine (also known as adrenaline) using autoinjector technology, most frequently for the treatment of acute allergic reactions to avoid or treat the onset of anaphylactic shock. In certain cases it can be used to stop local bleeding. Epinephrine is known to act on the uterus through beta 2 receptors and can cause relaxation of the uterus. At term, it can prevent the contraction and delay the labor.
1399363 tn?1462342610 i have been experiancing tachycardia and palpitation for years for unknown reason (doctors still couldnt find it but it's not psychologycal problem) and on beta-blocker. I just got root cannal treatment for 1 teeth last week for the 1 day. The doctor killed the nerve(thats what they told me) temporary filled it and sent me home. Yesterday i went back there and the doctor said they clean up my root cannal and pull out the nerve, filled it and sent me home.
Avatar m tn I have ME/CFS and I hadnt seen the online warnings that for those of us with ME, anethestics with the epinephrine in them can be very bad and best avoided for those of us with this, so I found this out the hard way. I didnt have any other pain relief except this lidocaine injection so my reaction was certainly from that. It caused me to have a near seizure or a seizure. My legs started majorly jerking, I started twitching all over.
