Avatar n tn I am not sure how the Topamax will effect your asthma because I am not a doctor nor do I have bad asthma. I was on 100mg of Topamax for about a year. Of course as with all medicines they effect everyone differently but Topamax worked great for my migraines however it made me incredibly tired and stupid. Not just dingy but scary stupid. Tons of memory loss, couldn't place simple words or names and an all around feeling of not being there. I am no longer on it due to these side effects.
Avatar f tn My 4 year old has moderate asthma. Ive heard stories of asthma attacks leading to hospitalization and death. We have close friend whom have died from an asthma attack. My question/worry is, Do asthma attacks ever come on so strong and fast that you cant get help in time? I thought that there was always signs and symptoms so you can control it before it gets that far.

Avatar m tn Especially epinephrien. I have asthma and took primatene mist which is bad for people with asthma and it has epinephrine in it. I did abuse this medicine and I think maybe it caused some of the problems I have.
Avatar n tn Epinephrine is basically like adrenaline and for an adregenic afibber such as my self it is a definate no-no. I even have to ask for the Epi free form of novacaine at the dentist office. I would definately see a Dr and tell him my contidions and see what they say. De sure to tell him about your MVP.
Avatar f tn Have you had your thyroid and those adrenal hormones: epinephrine, norepinephrine, metanephrine and normetanephrine levels checked? Do you have any additional symptoms that you think might be unrelated to menopause, such as shortness of breath with exertion?
Avatar n tn s for like super emergencies. If it is epinephrine any relief is only for minutes I hear. Might ask for an albuterol. Just note that albuterols can take 4-10 minutes to work. So some people carry Promatene for sharp onset of asthma to keep breathing long enough for the albuterol to kick in. But this is how it was explained to me, I'm no doctor and don't know if your inhaler is using epinephrine or albuterol.
1020860 tn?1252838928 I think you're confused. There are two kinds of asthma, allergic and pulmonary based. Bot exist all the time, it's the attacks that are episodic. Inflammation will irritate both types. Certainly anxiety can weaken the immune system, which will increase the possibility of inflammation, but it isn't necessarily so. Depends on the person. And there's no infection involved necessarily, though people with asthma get worse symptoms from certain infections.
Avatar m tn Can you tell me how many attacks of asthma your husband gets in a month and what medications is he using?
Avatar m tn So sorry to hear that. Is he being seen by a pulmonary specialist? Is he taking any sort of preventative medications apart from ventoIin? He obviously needs to have his asthma controlled. I do know that they don't like to over medicate children on steroid puffers. But I do believe they are allowed up to 400ug/day safely before any side effects become apparent, such as slowed growth. Does he have a lot of air born allergies?
Avatar f tn Sometimes environmental, diurnal and temperature variations can trigger attacks. These are difficult to avoid, but you could be aware and protect yourself if they are the causative factors. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

961612 tn?1250642671 I went from 200 pounds down to 96 pounds. Was in bed for close to 2 years. Then put me on some meds that worked, (for a while anyway). I looked like walking death thanks to him. Then in 2007 I moved and found my life saver, a cardiloigist who knew his job. He changed my meds, (I take propranolol 20mg twice a day and clonazepam 0.5 mg twice a day) they worked. Then he gave me the bad news.
Avatar m tn Some people with asthma may go for extended periods without having any symptoms, interrupted by periodic worsening of their symptoms called asthma attacks. Others might have asthma symptoms every day. In addition, some people with asthma may only have asthma during exercise or asthma with viral infections like colds.Mild asthma attacks are generally more common. Usually, the airways open up within a few minutes to a few hours.

Avatar m tn Several aspects should be considered while selecting an inhaler for asthma, such as the severity of your ailment, your age, personal preference, and any other health issues you could have. One possible solution for moderate asthma is to use a short-acting beta-agonist (SABA) inhaler, which may provide rapid relief from symptoms.
1693461 tn?1374511829 No two asthma attacks are exactly alike. Asthma attacks can also lead to a panic attack. What is worse than feeling like you can't breathe. Personally, this sounds like an asthma attack that may have led to a panic attack. Getting customers through a movie line can be a little strenous and definitely stressful. Stress is a common asthma trigger. However, it also triggers panic attacks. Your excess mucous would seem to indicate that asthma was definitely in the mix.
Avatar m tn Exercise induced asthma attacks are generally the first sign that asthma is not in control for most asthmatics. I would suggest you first see your doctor to review your treatment plan, before embarking on increasing your stamina to exercise. However exercise is very beneficial and should be done regularly to help strengthen your muscles and lungs. When your asthma is in control, you will be amazed to see how much easier it is to exercise.
Avatar f tn I think you should try taking anti-histamine when your asthma attacks, I think it's just allergy, mostly asthma attacks when a person with asthma holds or stay with hairy pet like cat or hairy stuff toys.
