Common Questions and Answers about Epinephrine ephedrine

epipen

Avatar m tn The thing that started me on the path to a-fib 13 yrs ago was ephedrine and pseudo-ephedrine as found (or used to be found) in Nyquil. The ephedrine I got from Metabolife, a diet aid popular in the 90's. I wouldn't touch that stuff with a ten foot pole now. I'm not sure but I think epinephrine might cause problems too. Just always check the ingredients on the bottle and if there's any doubt call your Dr.s office or at least your local pharmacist.
Avatar f tn An increase in sympathetic nervous system stimulation causes the heart rate to increase, both by the direct action of sympathetic nerve fibers on the heart and by causing the endocrine system to release hormones such as epinephrine (adrenaline), which have a similar effect. Increased sympathetic stimulation is usually due to physical or psychological stress.
Avatar n tn m contemplating taking a EC stack for my workouts which consist of Ephedrine and Caffeine. I am wondering if Ephedrine is ok to take Adderall. I've heard mixed responses from this and would like to know the truth.
Avatar n tn Ephedrine is known to cause coronary artery spasm. Depending on how long the spasm last, one can have a heart attack related to it. This is why patients with this condition should always carry nitroglycerin with them at all times.
788350 tn?1236620199 my question is can ephedrine do anything for me. alot of my friends run ephedrine hcl in eca stacs for weight loss. obviously my reason for using would be different and not involve cafiene or asprin. what can it do for me and how to take it. also is there any other alternatives?
20803283 tn?1513893720 m a bit confused, because I was under the impression that allergy meds containing ephedrine were banned a few years back. I guess you can still get them somehow. Basically, ephedrine is a stimulant found in the herb ephedra, or ma huang in Chinese. It has been used for centuries as a decongestant, and some use it as a stimulant. Because both ephedrine and its cousin pseudo-ephedrine can be used to make methamphetamine, regulators basically banned the stuff.
Avatar f tn can i take slimming tablets containg ephedrine if i have just had laser abblation for wolf parkinson and i still have another path way there
Avatar n tn Now I have days where I can barely function at all due to depression, but if I take 12mg of ephedrine, some caffeine and 1/2 an aspirin I feel normal to great. I've only been on actual depression medications once - I took Paxil. It didn't seem to work well and the side effects of getting off it were horrible. Is the ephedrine/caffeine/aspirin mix a reasonable solution to my depression? Any dangers? Or should I try another antidepressant?
Avatar m tn The composition of the syrup is each 5ml contains 4mg Promethazine HCI, 9mg Codeine Phosphate and 8mg Ephedrine HCI. Each bottle of the syrup is 120 ml, I usually take one or two bottle of it. In my country, tablet with single composition is available. Which one/two of the tablet can replace the syrup?
Avatar f tn As most commercially availible Ephedrine tablets already have caffeine, just add an Aspirin tablet to it. Ephedrine is now internet only after being briefly made to be illegal to sell from cardiovascular complications arising from people who should not have been taking it to begin with. However Doctors still prescribe it in suitable conditions.
1247165 tn?1268767582 I have to call it what it is because I have told myself too many times "this is the last box". I'm addicted to ephedrine. I wouldn't say I'm physically addicted because I don't feel any withdrawal symptoms. And I say that with all honesty. I CERTAINLY am psychologically addicted. And I know my triggers too: I find myself doing it when I haven't exercised and feel I've eaten unhealthy or when I need alot of energy, or when I want that "high".
Avatar n tn It was on OTC-syrup with among other things ephedrine hydrochloride (1.5 mg) and belladonna (25 mg). Can this have something to do with it? It was really an awful experience to have my heart like stopping for several seconds. Or that's at least how I felt it. So what should I think about this?
Avatar f tn I had to get stitches last night, and was given 5-6 shots of epinephrine and lidocane. I told the intake nurse I was taking synthroid (which I presume implies thyroid problems). I felt a little "unusual" afterward (pounding heart, feeling calm and detached..), and was googling the side effects of the shot.. an article said this: "Additionally, epinephrine and lidocaine usually aren’t used in patients with thyroid disease, or disease of the kidneys or liver.
3198928 tn?1345253403 I feel dumb because most people on here are fighting an addiction to pain medicine which is very hard and I am on here because I am addicted to ephedrine. First let me say, before I ever tried ephedrine I was addicted to opiates for about 8 years. It got really bad and I even ended up in jail last Jan for prescription fraud. My addiction to Lortab, Percocet and even Adderall had completely destroyed my life in every way.
Avatar n tn I had a 2nd trimester miscarriage the day that I had a mole removed at my dermatologist. They used Epinephrine and Xylocaine and when we received the autopsy report it revealed that my baby was perfectly normal and healthy without chromosonal issues prior to him dieing in my womb that day. Has anyone experienced this or known anyone who has? I researched on the web and found many warnings about pregnant women receiving Lidocaine from the dentist but not what they gave me.
Avatar f tn So far I always got eye drops without epinephrine/or something equal to epinephrine, but this last eye doctor did not want to use any drops at all. He examined my eyes without dialating them.
Avatar m tn Hi, It is a serotonin and nor epinephrine reuptake inhibitor. The name of the neurotransmitter is nor epinephrine it is different from epinephrine. Most of the side effects occur during the period when one is taking the medication. But the important thing to remember is to follow the doctors instructions carefully. To reduce the incidence of side effects it is always started with a low dose and then it is gradually increased.

1247165 tn?1268767582 I founded this group after joining MedHelp and reaching out for support for addiction to ephedrine. After browsing around and finding so much support for all ailments, I emailed a dear friend of mine who is struggling with sexual addiction and thought it would be a valuable resource with all of the communities and groups available. To my surprise, I found forums for other sexual related issues, but none for sexual addiction!

4703993 tn?1379768388 I found this tidbit in a journal abstract that you may want to show your doc: "Patients with syncope while supine also had sympathoadrenal imbalance before loss of consciousness. Sympathoadrenal imbalance precedes tilt-evoked and spontaneous neurocardiogenic syncope and correlates with concurrent skeletal muscle vasodilation. Sympathoadrenal imbalance may contribute to hemodynamic derangements precipitating neurocardiogenic syncope." http://www.ajconline.
Avatar f tn It's the epinephrine in the anesthetic that causes the racing heart, etc. Next time you're at the dentist and you need/want an anesthetic ask for one WITHOUT epinephrine. The medication generally takes a little longer to "kick in" and wears off faster, but your dentist will work with you for maximum comfort.
