3791484 tn?1348234566 The first step in controlling hives is to identify the cause, if possible. If the source of the problem can be identified and avoided , try to avoid exposure to it in the future. A mild case of hives often disappears on its own after a few hours. A longer-lasting case should respond to the manufacturer's recommended dosage of an over-the-counter oral antihistamine. If your hives don't disappear in a few days, you should see a doctor.
1639028 tn?1300617084 Does anyone else suffer from unidentified anaphylaxis? if you do do you struggel emotionally as well? what is it like for you? what symptoms do you get? how many reactions have you suffered from?
1047019 tn?1256719961 We DO NOT have SYNTHETIC Epinephrine in our bodies. Any drug that is synthetic has been made this way by man in a lab & it is recognized as poison/unnatural to our bodies...hence this is why it causes reactions in some. The last time I was given it I thought I would die.
Avatar f tn I have had hives for a day & a half. I would like to know if this could be related to nerves. I don't have any food allergies. I went to the doctor yesterday, she gave me a shot of Epinephrine. That helped for a couple of hours. I have been taking benadryl every 6 hours & putting blue star ointment on. Before I got the shot my mouth was swelling and I almost lost my voice. Please, let me know what to do.
Avatar m tn Ok, in the last few days ive developed a rash all over my body, it gets really red after exercise, then goes away later on. Take a look.
Avatar f tn I get this itchy red rash when i sweat, and I get hives when i sweat in the water. Claritin does not help, and I refused to take Prednisone from my doctor (for many reasons). Ive traveled to a lot of tropical places, so i took a natural anti-parasite medication, but it did not help. Is there a correlation between urticaria and a yeast overload? Also, where should i go next to try and relieve this problem? Thanks!
Avatar f tn Went to the ER last Thursday for mild anaphylaxis to tree nut allergy. The nurse gave me epinephrine by IV instead of IM. Causing me to have v tacardia. Basically a heart attack. What I'm wondering is ther gonna be permement damage done I scheduled to see cardio at the VA In Pittsburgh. As I just had stress test month and a half ago And was negative. Had it done because started exercising again after 10 year layoff. Now I'm scared to no end.
Avatar f tn I am a Registered Nurse, & my daughter would have the same thing _& even get hives. I always suggested to her to take some Benadryl, until one time she went walked with me. She came back to her car & was wheezing, red, short of breath, then I got her into her car,_& she was crumping on me & I called the ambulance got her to hospital ER. She barely had a blood pressure, she was in & out of consciousness.
Avatar f tn husband has had low cortisol but works nights so dr does not think it is low because days and nights reversed although has ordered cortisol 1 hour after he wakes. AM ccrtisol has been between 1 and 5, below range low of 6.7. although cortisol stimulated to 13.7. Dr ordered 24 hour urine for catecholamines in July and December. both times epinephrine NE <5 &<6 below clinical reportable range.
Avatar n tn Using an EpiPen that has expired is mostly discouraged but is better than no medication in emergencies. There is no alternative to epipen in case of anaphylaxis reaction but if a mild allergic reaction is there then oral or intravenous antihistaminic and steroid can be used. Thirdly, from your symptoms it looks like you are allergic to crustaceans. Crustaceans are aquatic animals that have jointed legs, a hard shell and no backbone, such as crab, crayfish, lobster, prawns and shrimp.
4451049 tn?1387153437 Do you seriously think it was anaphylaxis in the absence of skin reaction, the most important sign? Other than that, it does kinda sound like it could have been. However, the symptoms waxed and waned and didn't happen until 7 days in. I never give up, OCD like. Maybe from whatever tbi I may have. You just got to know how to match the cyp enzymes and substrates up right. It also helps to know the intensity of the inhibiting effect.
Avatar m tn Since I was about 18 I've noticed that whenever I exercise or have an increase in body temp. due to stress, adrenaline, or just warm room temperature (if I was just in a colder environment), I break out in a red rash all over my body. If I itch it at all, it becomes full blown hives. This only happens in cold weather when I'm not acclimatized to the heat, and it also subsides after extreme sweating (but before then is a problem).
539780 tn?1213943976 Hi, The familiar symptoms of bee and wasp stings include pain, redness, swelling, and itchiness in the area of the sting. Multiple stings can have much more severe consequences, such as anaphylaxis, a life-threatening allergic reaction that occurs in hypersensitive persons. Emergency medical kits containing self-administrable epinephrine to counter anaphylactic shock are available for allergic people and should be carried by them at all times.
Avatar f tn About 5yrs. ago I developed exercise induced asthma. Nothing too strange because asthma runs in my family, so I didn't think much of it. But for a couple years now I get hives every time I exercise. My body (especially my feet, thighs, arms and trunk) burn and then start to itch really bad and I break out in little red bumps that quickly spread to patches of red, swollen hives all over. Very uncomfortable!
1460427 tn?1285773515 ve seen 16 specialist in the last 3 years, one for just about every organ in my body, had many misdiagnosis including fibromyalgia, anxiety/depression disorder, psychosomatic, etc all treated with meds that caused more damage. I have lived and survived this condition for 24 yrs without ANY proper medical treatment due to what was written in my medical records. I was diagnosed a little over a year ago by immunology because I demanded the testing or they never would have found it.
1666434 tn?1325262350 Then about 2 weeks ago I go to the dentist and have an immediate reaction to Septocaine which contains epinephrine which has Sulfites in it, grrrr. Do I need a medical alert bracelet or necklace?
Avatar f tn However, a large swelling may require an adjustment of the immunotherapy dosage or a change in the frequency and amount of the shots. It is also important that anaphylaxis, which can be life threatening, is prevented. It is best that you inform and see your doctor for proper evaluation. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn Slight indication of infection/soreness at incisor site prior to cipro. Docs not back till tomorrow, do I not ingest todays dosage?
Avatar n tn November 2 I had a bowl of clam chowder (eaten many times in my life) and a half hour later I was in anaphylactic shock. I was rushed to emergency, given benedryl and sent home 4 hours later. I got an Epipen for I was told, although rare, that I could have a secondary reaction within the next week. Sure enough November 5 I had a second reaction (bi-phasic reaction). I was given the epipen by my mother for I passed out and couldn't give it myself. Back to the hospital.
Avatar n tn As I posted on another place in this web site: After 6 years and 10 doctors I finally figured out the cause of my random swelling, small places on a, foot, hand, lip, arm, throat, tongue like most others.. All caused by CORN. Anything with corn, corn syrup, corn breading (on fish or chicken) Problem is, it takes 24 to 72 hours from eating corn to swelling symptom, (usually 48-56 hours). I must read the ingredients and eat a corn free diet, most everything has corn in it.
Avatar m tn I lived in a small basement apartment while in school for almost 2 years, the basement leaked everyday nand flooded muliple times. 6mths after living there I went into Anaphylaxis for the first time after eating salmon sushi, then continued to have massive reations to practically everything I ate for the next almost year.Almost 3 years later I live off just a hand full of things I know I can eat.
Avatar m tn I get the rash 24hrs after I have fatigued my muscles either playing football or lifting weights at the gym when the stiffness sets in. The rash is the type of rash that you get in Lupus on the face but mainly starts to swell (hives) which then spreads all over my body and continues to swell. Whilst this is happening I have a struggle to breath causing wheezing. My dermatologist has said that I am the only person in the world that has these symptoms which I suppose makes me unique.
Avatar n tn Sometimes I get this horrible itching starting at my thighs and moving up my body when I am exercising or just walking . Sometimes it can be on my arms or my back and the itching isn't only when I am exercising. If say I'm sitting on a chair and the slight pressure the back of the chair causes on that part of my back will make it turn red and itch horribly. Or if my pants or shirt touch my skin with a little pressure or no pressure at all I'll get that extreme itch in those areas.
Avatar m tn Sometimes, I have small, flesh-coloured bumps as well, which are quite itchy. Sometimes I seem to get this rash in the shower, strangely enough it always appears towards the end of my shower. Also, in situations where I am hot and flustered, in crowded areas like buses and trains, hot weather etc. the rash sometimes appears. I've tried many things to combat this rash, such as exfoliating my body in the shower, using a different shampoo and soap, and using a different washing powder.
Avatar f tn In addition to the vomiting and diarrhea she would have had very pale gums, her pulse would have been very weak and her heart rate would have been very rapid. Normally the antidote for anaphylaxis is an injection of epinephrine, which should be administered preferrably within a few minutes of her having the reaction. What type of vaccination(s) did she receive?
