Epinephrine asthma

Common Questions and Answers about Epinephrine asthma

epipen

Avatar m tn Especially epinephrien. I have asthma and took primatene mist which is bad for people with asthma and it has epinephrine in it. I did abuse this medicine and I think maybe it caused some of the problems I have.
Avatar n tn m wondering with my heart problem how dangerous is it to get a dose of epinephrine and how will that affect my heart? I had an epinephrine dose in the early nineties due to a breathing problem, but that was before I was diagnosed with the mvp and atrial misfire.
Avatar f tn Have you had your thyroid and those adrenal hormones: epinephrine, norepinephrine, metanephrine and normetanephrine levels checked? Do you have any additional symptoms that you think might be unrelated to menopause, such as shortness of breath with exertion?
Avatar n tn ve noticed that only certain scents make me feel this way.....and the list is growing. My dad and my sister both have asthma. I carry a primatene mist inhaler with me just in case. I have an appointment with an asthma specialist on Monday, but I'm not sure if this is what I have since I haven't actually had an attack where I just couldn't breathe at all. I know most people have asthma as a child. Could it just be allergies?
Avatar n tn Hi, welcome to the forum, as such epipen are not available yet. Epipen delivers a measured dose of epinephrine (also known as adrenaline) using autoinjector technology, most frequently for the treatment of acute allergic reactions to avoid or treat the onset of anaphylactic shock. In certain cases it can be used to stop local bleeding. Alternatively, the same drug can be given by the local health care provider or you need to go to emergency department.
Avatar n tn It takes about 48 hours for an allergen to clear your body. When you went to the ER what did they do? Did they use epinephrine? If so, did it work? If it did then you were suffering from an allergy. It just occurred to me that you are always on a military base. So it may have to do with something specific to the ammunition, air or food that would be found in such places.
Avatar n tn I am not sure how the Topamax will effect your asthma because I am not a doctor nor do I have bad asthma. I was on 100mg of Topamax for about a year. Of course as with all medicines they effect everyone differently but Topamax worked great for my migraines however it made me incredibly tired and stupid. Not just dingy but scary stupid. Tons of memory loss, couldn't place simple words or names and an all around feeling of not being there. I am no longer on it due to these side effects.
Avatar f tn I had to get stitches last night, and was given 5-6 shots of epinephrine and lidocane. I told the intake nurse I was taking synthroid (which I presume implies thyroid problems). I felt a little "unusual" afterward (pounding heart, feeling calm and detached..), and was googling the side effects of the shot.. an article said this: "Additionally, epinephrine and lidocaine usually aren’t used in patients with thyroid disease, or disease of the kidneys or liver.
Avatar n tn I had a 2nd trimester miscarriage the day that I had a mole removed at my dermatologist. They used Epinephrine and Xylocaine and when we received the autopsy report it revealed that my baby was perfectly normal and healthy without chromosonal issues prior to him dieing in my womb that day. Has anyone experienced this or known anyone who has? I researched on the web and found many warnings about pregnant women receiving Lidocaine from the dentist but not what they gave me.
Avatar f tn So far I always got eye drops without epinephrine/or something equal to epinephrine, but this last eye doctor did not want to use any drops at all. He examined my eyes without dialating them.
Avatar m tn Hi, It is a serotonin and nor epinephrine reuptake inhibitor. The name of the neurotransmitter is nor epinephrine it is different from epinephrine. Most of the side effects occur during the period when one is taking the medication. But the important thing to remember is to follow the doctors instructions carefully. To reduce the incidence of side effects it is always started with a low dose and then it is gradually increased.
Avatar f tn Can anyone here tell me if ms has any effect on either of the hormones epinephrine or norepinephrine?
Avatar n tn When this occurs, I drive as quickly as I can to the ER where they give him racemic epinephrine and dexamethasone. He has had a complete work-up with ENT and lung doctors at CHOP as well as allergists. The conclusion is that this is just something that he will eventually outgrow. It is very terrifying for him and I notice that it not only occurs with an upper respiratory infection, but the humidity and the "bad air days" in the summer can give him a severe case of croup.
4703993 tn?1379768388 I found this tidbit in a journal abstract that you may want to show your doc: "Patients with syncope while supine also had sympathoadrenal imbalance before loss of consciousness. Sympathoadrenal imbalance precedes tilt-evoked and spontaneous neurocardiogenic syncope and correlates with concurrent skeletal muscle vasodilation. Sympathoadrenal imbalance may contribute to hemodynamic derangements precipitating neurocardiogenic syncope." http://www.ajconline.
Avatar f tn It's the epinephrine in the anesthetic that causes the racing heart, etc. Next time you're at the dentist and you need/want an anesthetic ask for one WITHOUT epinephrine. The medication generally takes a little longer to "kick in" and wears off faster, but your dentist will work with you for maximum comfort.
1305767 tn?1361192676 t bad this time because they gave me nitrous but I learned they put epinephrine in the local anesthetic shots (it has something to do with helping the anesthetic last longer) So I'm thinking the epinephrine sends my anxiety level from like a six to a ten. Last November I had a tooth pulled and while the dentist was injecting the shot my heart rate got so high I almost passed out. They put a monitor on my finger and it was about 150! That is just crazy.
Avatar f tn I have to go have a tooth filled tomorrow and I'm somewhat apprehensive about the anesthetic. I know most often the ones they use contain epinephrine because it's a vasoconstricter and causes the anesthesia to work longer. I know you can request the anesthetic without the epi but then it wears off quickly (like when they are drilling on your tooth). I asked my cardiologist and he said if I didn't get a big dose of the epi, if it was mixed, with the beta blockers I should be ok.
Avatar m tn For anyone else out there with this issue, my doctor did make a recommendation that seems to be helping. He suggested an Asthmanefrin inhaler, which provides a little dose of epinephrine, designed for asthma sufferers. It is available over the counter. When my throat symptoms get really bad, it seems to improve them pretty quickly. I also carry an epipen in case things get really out-of-hand.
Avatar m tn Since my heart is so sensitive to stimulants such as, caffeine, asthma inhalers, choclate, antihistamines, and too much sugar and salt I am very worried about having to take these antibiotics for probably a week or so maybe even twice a day. My mom tells me that people die because of certain antibiotics. I am afraid that if I go an get the dental work done I will encounter serious arrythmias. I have periodontal disease which needs exstensive treatment.
Avatar m tn About 20 minutes after I had it my stomach started cramping up and nausea, asthma and mucus in my nose. Not sure if the asthma might have been trigged by the nausea but my inhaler reversed it. Still feeling pretty sick. It's been about 35 minutes and not feeling well, not at all. My stomach muscles just want to throw up and are staying really tight. I'm trying to let my stomach settle down so I can get some antihistamine in me. Does this sound like just a bad upset stomach or allergy?
878888 tn?1319634044 Unsure why blood sugars are higher, though I have gained a little weight since then, about 8 lbs. I have been having Asthma issues, so am wondering if that or Hypothyroid issues could be affecting my bs levels. It has been an extremely hot year here in Texas and so my skin is much drier , even my scalp itches, will try the lotion (though lubiderm did not seem to help).
Avatar f tn About 5yrs. ago I developed exercise induced asthma. Nothing too strange because asthma runs in my family, so I didn't think much of it. But for a couple years now I get hives every time I exercise. My body (especially my feet, thighs, arms and trunk) burn and then start to itch really bad and I break out in little red bumps that quickly spread to patches of red, swollen hives all over. Very uncomfortable!

At term, it can prevent the contraction and delay the labor.
