Common Questions and Answers about Epi pen manufacturer

epipen

Avatar f tn Inside the pen, where the insulin is contained I found a silver object. I did not inject myself, but would like to know who I could talk to about product liability and quality control. I still have the container even though the pharmacy company wants it back.
Avatar n tn Is there a medicine that could be administered via epi pen to control my son's melt downs? My son has special needs and I'm sure you are aware how strong a child with special needs can become. I am looking to keep my son safe. Can you make any suggestions please ? Thank you in advance for your help.

580734 tn?1217937235 Paramedic Jacksonville FL, co worker had a call recently where a patient claimed to have been perscribed an epi pen for anxiety induced sycope. Patient says she is supposed to auto inject when she feels an episode coming. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing?
Avatar m tn They did a skin prick test that showed a severe (based on the size of the hive) allergu to pistachios, hazelnuts and almonds and a light allergy to peanuts. I was prescribed an epi pen and was told to stay away from all nuts to be safe...but peanuts should be ok in moderation. I was shocked! I have eaten peanut butter and nuttella my entire life, I've had almonds and pistachio is my favorite ice cream flavor. Needles to say I went to get a second opinion.
188508 tn?1210548106 They didn't give me an epi-pen. My symptoms are always there. I been eating almonds every day for over 10 years.
Avatar f tn s family doctor needs to write him a prescription for an EPI PEN and show him how to administer the EPI PEN . EPI stands for epinephrine. Your brother needs to discuss his peanut allergy with his family doctor. You and your brother should also not buy any bakery goods in a store as these often contain traces of peanuts and other nuts. My advice to you and your brother is stay away from all kinds of nuts. Do not eat any kind of nuts.
Avatar f tn Yes, you definietly should be carrying and epi-pen. You also need to see an allergist and start with some allergy testing ASAP. Needless to say, stay away from all the things you know will cause a reaction.
645390 tn?1338555377 How did you realize what was going on? Did you use and Epi-pen? We have been lucky not to have another issue so I'm just curious how it presented for your son. It might help me one day:) Thanks...and thank goodness your son is doing well!
410801 tn?1220119445 I get them bad and ended up in the hospital, I take benadryl the liquid {Dr said that works faster then the tablets.} If I start to get one or two then I start taking the liquid and usually take another dose about 2hrs. from the first dose. I notice its worst right before the time of mo. something linked to the hormones, also get if I have gone into hyperthyroid. If I don't wait too long after the first couple come out I can get control over it if I start the benadryl.
Avatar n tn So sorry to be late in responding- how are the bumps doing today? I wouldn't take an epi-pen for that, as long as you are freely breathing and it's just the rash you are seeing. It's very difficult to say for sure if this is an allergic reaction without a doctor being able to look at the issue and have a bit more of your medical history. If you have an epi-pen, I'd imagine you do have a known allergy issue with something?
1021174 tn?1251635887 Hi and WELCOME!! What the Dr's usually recommend (especially with nut & insect allergy) is to carry Two Epi Pens with you. Most of the Epi Pen holder kits have an area for two pens along with an inhaler since many are asthmatic, too.
Avatar f tn You need to discus this with your doctor. Depending on the type of reaction you have, an Epi-Pen may be necesary. This is required if you experience any kind of respiratory system symptom including sweeling tongue, swelling throat, and shortness of breath as these are life threatening. It is always best to strictly avoice food allergens. Carefully read ingredient lists.
Avatar m tn An anaphylactic reaction can kill you. Skip the fried bees. Have the Poodle Gumbo instead. If you do not have an Epi-Pen, ask your doctor for one when you go for your pre-trip recommended immunizations, and keep it with you. Remember, should you need the Epi-Pen, it is only a temporary solution. You will still need to go to a hospital for definitive treatment.
Avatar f tn Hi; I also had problems beginning with hives and progressing to episodes of fainting/trouble breathing/swelling/redness/stomach symptoms. An allergist diagnosed me with "idiopathic anaphylaxis" - it's where your body makes too much histamine, for some unknown reason, and you end up with an anaphalactic (sp?) attack. It doesn't sound like you necessaryily have an anaphalaxis but hives are a symptom of too much histamine also. Have this checked out.
Avatar n tn Told him it was safe, no needle b/c it was the practice version (epi pen kits come with a dummy pen for practice). Proceeded to watch his bother inject his hand with epinepherine. This took about 4 minutes while I was in kitchen preparing dinner. Post ER visit for his brother, my 8 yr old admitted to some parts of the story, rest pieced together from talking to 6 year old, then 8 yr old admits full version.
Avatar n tn You should ask about an epi pen.
Avatar f tn So, having an epi pen is mandatory. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I agree with the above comment - signs like this are put up all the time for peanut allergies. And if anyone gets their feelings hurt or tries to laugh it off as a joke - as stated above - remind them that YOU are the one who gets sick and suffers - and also remind them that your allergy to blueberries, while not as common as a peanut allergy - is still the same - and can cause serious, sometimes fatal allergic reactions.
Avatar n tn Helo and welcome to the community. That is a good question to ask your doctor. Your symptoms can be from several things. The smells could be triggering Vocal Cord Dysfunction (VCD) attacks which are a nuisance but harmless. The worst that could happen is that it is possible to pass out. Then normal breathing resumes. You could also have asthma or non-asthmatic Reactive Airway Disease. Your burning lips could be oral allergy syndrome.
Avatar f tn If you do have actual food allergies, you might need an Epi-pen.
168348 tn?1379357075 PS: Yes we have an epi pen and were told we should have used it .. that is a whole nother issue in itself .. a parent easily can go into denial .. not believing what they see and minimize what is going on ... it didn't cause her any harm this time, but next time we know to do it 1-2-3 and not think twice. She has a bad case of croup .. that is where the airway constricted ... so now she is on mega prednisone and Benadryl ev. 6 hrs (50mgs) ..
Avatar m tn Which Part D insurance plan has the best coverage and cost factor for the humira pen. I dose 40 mg every other week.
