Eosinophilic gastroenteritis in ferrets

Common Questions and Answers about Eosinophilic gastroenteritis in ferrets

gastroenteritis

Avatar f tn My daughter has eosinophilic gastroenteritis and eosinophilic proctocolitis.
Avatar f tn Beside blood and tissue eosinophilia, peripheral neuropathies, cutaneous manifestations, eosinophilic alveolitis and gastroenteritis are frequently found. In contrast to the hypereosinophilic syndrome, Churg-Strauss syndrome is defined by the presence of systemic vasculitis. However, frequently symptoms related to eosinophilia are (mis)interpreted as indirect signs of vasculitis.
Avatar m tn Ferrets should eat a diet high in protein. The BEST diet for a ferret is a raw diet (raw meat/bones/organs), but if this cannot be provided, a kibble VERY LOW in plant material. Wellness Core has a high protein cat kibble that I would consider acceptable for ferrets. Feel free to ask me about feeding ferrets raw. I've been doing it for almost 3 years now and my ferrets are great!
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis 2 years ago. I spent 17 days in the hospital and received high dose oral steroid treatment to treat it. It went away; however, the problem has resurfaced. My doctor has recommended I start a six food elimination diet. My question is: is there anybody doing this diet and how are you avoiding these foods? They seem to be in everything at the store. MY SFED consists of egg, milk, seafood/shellfish, tree nuts/peanuts, soy, and wheat.
Avatar n tn Eight or ten years ago, my gastroenterologist was worried I had eosinophilic gastroenteritis. But I have no idea what it means when your eos levels are low. A low eosinophil level is usually not a cause for concern and is actually quite common. Eosinophils can be too low due to administration of steroids. Steroids are any of a large number of hormone substances with a similar and basic chemical structure.
7400888 tn?1401574739 Ok so we just added two adorable ferrets to our family I know we can't clean a cat's litter box during pregnancy but I was just thinking is it the same with ferrets my husband has been doing it but I would like to help if there is no danger to the baby any advice would be helpful thank you mommies
144586 tn?1284666164 s, which was passed around in the family, and lived quite happily with an African Gray parrot. Ferrets are illegal in my city, and my mom used to say she was "public enemy number one" for violating the law. All in all, it was a nice companion for an elderly woman. The parrot flew around the house freely and was never bothered by the ferret. She got it young and the family played with it daily. It lived for ten happy years.
740456 tn?1260449809 I know this is a little late, but this story breaks my heart. Cat food isn't really the best choice unless you have nothing else to give him. The person about said not to put a water tub in their cage, my babes have a bowl of water and a lot of ferrets like to "snorkel" in it.
20810717 tn?1518315251 I adopted 2 ferrets, both fixed, after someone abandoned them at a local pet store. They're a bonded pair and the male is wonderful, but the female bites. I've looked around and everywhere I've seen says that ferrets often bite in play, but her actions do not seem like play. She will randomly dart out at me and bite down on any skin exposed hard enough to draw blood.
Avatar f tn I have 4 ferrets and I am not worried about them in the least. They will still get dedicated play time when the baby comes and honestly they probably won't even know the baby exists. Mine have their own room in my house, so its easy to just let out and play. I wouldn't think your ferret would act any differently but if I could make a suggestion, ferrets are very social creatures and love their own kind.
Avatar n tn All stool samples negative but they did do a 2nd deeper biopsy in the endoscope and found eosinophils within several areas of his GI tract. Have your doctor look into eosinophilic gastroenteritis also....or eosinophilic esophagitis. This is where they are going with us but 2 1/2 weeks of Prednisone isn't cutting it. They think it's caused by food allergies. Have your daughter tested by an allergist to be sure. I hope we can all find some answers!
Avatar f tn Hello, The various possibilities for your symptoms are skin conditions like psoriasis, dermatitis, lice, scabies and hives, internal diseases like liver and kidney disorders, iron deficiency anemia, irritation and allergic reactions to chemicals, wool, soaps, cosmetics and certain foods can cause itchy skin. Another possibility is of eosinophilic gastroenteritis(an uncommon gastrointestinal disease causing itching and abdominal pain. A history of atopy or food allergies is often present).
Avatar f tn Hi, Eosinophilic pustular folliculitis is a skin infection/rash seen in people having HIV infection which is not treated and if the person is not in good help. It also happens to people who are HIV negative. Eosinophilic pustular folliculitis is certainly not a sign of HIV early infection.
Avatar n tn I went up there and took her to the doctor and she was basically told is was a stomach virus (gastroenteritis) drink plenty of fluids and it should go away in a couple of days but when I look up Gastroenteritis it says that it's common in people with weaken immune system caused by HIV. She took her 3 month birth control shot the morning before but I'm sure that didn't cause Gastroenteritis. My question is should I be concerned about HIV at this point.
Avatar n tn My daughter is 14 months old and she has has watery diarrhea and vomitting. When she was born she was perfectly healthy, but once I had to return to work I began to give her formula and that's when she began to have these complications. She began to have watery diarrhea and vomit. I took her to the doctor and they said she had gastroenteritis, but it's been a while now and she is still the same? Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong? Thank you.

Avatar n tn Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?
Avatar f tn I am a 50-yr-old female, and was diagnosed with COPD, asthma, GERD, sleep apnea, a paralyzed right diaphram, hiatal hernia, and eosinophilic gastroenteritis. I'm hospitalized all the time, and my Kaiser MD's are saying there's nothing more they can do. I'm on home oxygen, bi-pap, nebulized medications, including racemic epinepherin. As my MD's put it "it's just like a perfect storm. Any recommendations? Do I stand a chance of completely regaining my health?
Avatar m tn So we had our degu in a ball when the ferrets were running around, and a couple hours later our degu somehow got out of his ball and the ferret cornered him and bit him on top of the head, behind the ear, its been almost 3 days now, he does want to run but is stuck turning to the right, he has been eating somedays, and somedays he has not. What am I able to do to help him heal correctly.
