Enoxaparin or heparin

Common Questions and Answers about Enoxaparin or heparin

lovenox

Avatar n tn They put her on enoxaparin and wanted her to rest for 5 days until the next control. She refused to be put on heparin or warfarin because of her history of gastrointestinal bleeding and recent surgery. We've been told thrombectomy would be extremely risky, given her medical history. I read somewhere enoxaparin only prevents further occlusion of the vein and does not lyse existing clot.
Avatar n tn ACCP guidelines suggest low-dose aspirin and prophylactic-dose low molecular-weight or unfractionated heparin for thrombophilic women with a history of severe or recurrent preeclampsia or placental abruption [Bates et al 2004]. Decisions about antithrombotic therapy in women with factor V Leiden and pregnancy complications should be based on an individual risk/benefit assessment.
Avatar n tn continue through with warfarin, or to stop the warfarin and bridge in between with enoxaparin or heparin (as snconorm had done). http://www.circ.ahajournals.org/cgi/content/full/116/22/2531 So continuing through with warfarin seems to be the newer strategy. What would NOT be done is to stop anticoagulation altogether.
Avatar m tn I have a Biomedical Science background and worked in conjunction with a clinic which had numerous pregnant women with DVT. Heparin is also fine or even Arixtra.
Avatar f tn I worked in a coagulation lab and studied pathology so I can give you some advice. Some people, when taking low molecular weight heparin, develop something called Heparin Induced Thrombocytopenia (HIT). I would talk to your Doctor again. Make sure that your platelet count isn't too low (he/she will be monitoring it anyway as you're on heparin). When your count is too low, then you're at a risk of venous or arterial thrombosis (blood clots in the veins or arteries, respectively).
612551 tn?1450022175 I looked up my PT INR results over the years and it seemed to vary only by +- 10% regardless of whether I took fish oil or Ticagrelor or both or none.
Avatar f tn It has been suggested that patients on long-term warfarin therapy (including those with mechanical heart valves or atrial fibrillation) who are undergoing minor elective invasive outpatient procedures (eg, colonoscopy, dental procedures) may have a slightly increased risk of perioperative bleeding if placed in some form of heparin therapy (eg, heparin bridge) than those who have their oral anticoagulation withheld for 4-5 days (major hemorrhage 3.7% vs 0.
Avatar f tn Okay so I am 37+4 and I have been on Heparin for a little over a week now and was on lovenox since I found out I was pregnant due to a DVT I had back in June of 2012 after gallbladder surgery. My question is can I request to be induced? Its been stressful and I'm worried about going into labor naturally and not being able to have an epidural or having complications due to having to be on this medication. Does anyone think I would be able to be induced because of this risk factor?
593530 tn?1263847957 Is anyone taking Lovenox or Heparin injections during pregnancy? Or have you taken either for prior pregnancies? I'm just really nervous about the fact that my doctor told me in order to get an epidural the drug will have had to be out of my system for about 12 hours. He acted like it was pretty common and no big deal, but I'm just worried. If there is too much of the drug in my system it could cause a blood clot causing permanent paralysis! I'm just a little freaked out.
Avatar m tn What are the risks to the baby after the heparin is stopped and should she be induced after stopping the heparin?
Avatar f tn Yes I'm on the generic enoxaparin. I was on it with my first and forth (all 4 pregnancies were miscarriages). Now I'm on it again since 3 1/2 weeks pregnant.
604185 tn?1233960857 im not taking heparin but i have seen a lot of stories on the forum of women who have blood clotting disorders that took heparin and baby aspirins and had a healthy pregnancy. Try not to worry or stress out, it is perfectly safe.
Avatar n tn The morning of discharge she received her heparin 5000 units SQ . She did not start her plavix or ASA dose before stopping her Heparin. MY MOM died 3 days after discharge of a massive PE. I'm wondering why she wasn't started on coumadin? Any thoughts? This discussion is related to Plavix vs Coumadin.
Avatar f tn im currently almost 15 weeks and taking heparin shots...so far things have been uneventful with the heparin but i have been forewarned that heparin can cause spotting good luck at your FA scan...
281219 tn?1219114914 You can by-pass that risk by going under general anesthesia, but then you still have the risk of bleeds and hematoma or hemmorage or even clots from the c-section site. The best way, acc'd to my doc, to navigate this is to go on Heparin instead of Lovenox because your anticoagulant dose can be counteracted, thus reducing alot of the risk of anti-coagulant-based bleeding at the c-section site.
374593 tn?1257879950 What color is yalls heparin label? I used heparin last year with the pregnancy with my daughter, and the label was white with brown on it.. I just picked some more heparin up today (after a shocking BFP last week!) and it looks different - mostly brown label.. it says its the same dosing, but it still freaks me out a little after all the drama with it over the past few years.. Any help is GREATLY appreciated!! hope all is well with everyone!
Avatar f tn Just wondering if any of you ladies are using this pump. ...are there any bad side effect....do you like using it.... or it don't seem like u don't have anything on.....how does it work.....any info will help....thanks in advice...
Avatar n tn are you given heparin or any other anticoagulant during the cath? Heparin is gotten usually from pig intestines or lungs. Some other types are synthetic.
Avatar f tn For those on Heparin: my RE's office told me there has been a recall on Heparin manufactured by Baxter. Here's some more information: http://www.baxter.com/about_baxter/news_room/news_releases/2008/02-28-08-heparin.html check with your Dr.
1262373 tn?1281543782 Why are you on the heparin if I may ask? If it is due to blood clots they probably won't take you off. That's why I have to go on them. I dont know what it will do if you already have very small babies. I haven't had a child yet. I've had 4 miscarriages b/c of MTHFR. I would ask just to know if the weight would be smaller.
