Peritoneal carcinomatosis is a term which means extensive, or very widespread, metastasis of cancerous tumors onto the inside surfaces of the abdomen. It may cause the accumulation of fluid in your abdomen which can result in increased weight, increased abdominal girth and difficulty breathing.
It is typically treated with surgery to remove the tumor, also called a “debulking” procedure which may reduce the symptoms.
