Avatar n tn In one study, 50 women with thrombophilia (including 20 factor V Leiden heterozygotes) and recurrent pregnancy loss were treated with enoxaparin throughout 61 subsequent pregnancies. The live birth rate was 75% with enoxaparin prophylaxis, compared to 20% in prior untreated pregnancies [Brenner et al 2000].
Avatar n tn On the 22nd post-operative day, due to severe pain in the epigastric zone, her doctor ordered an abdominal CT. It turns out that portal vein and superior mesenteric vein are thrombosed. They put her on enoxaparin and wanted her to rest for 5 days until the next control. She refused to be put on heparin or warfarin because of her history of gastrointestinal bleeding and recent surgery. We've been told thrombectomy would be extremely risky, given her medical history.
Avatar m tn I am 27 weeks pregnancy and have dvt, start to using CLEXANE(ENOXAPARIN) I am really worried is there any harm to my baby Thanks & Rgards
Avatar f tn I wad injecting in the stomach but started developing scar tissue and it was getting sorer and sorer.
Avatar f tn My niece (her daughter) said that as the time got closer to her needing dialysis, she became more and more confused and then after dialysis, became clear headed again. We do understand this is due to the toxins building and then dialysis cleaning the blood. Approximately 10 days ago, she decided to discontinue dialysis and went home with hospice. Her last dialysis was 2 weeks ago today. My niece says that she’s been extremely confused and making no sense at all.
Avatar n tn continue through with warfarin, or to stop the warfarin and bridge in between with enoxaparin or heparin (as snconorm had done). http://www.circ.ahajournals.org/cgi/content/full/116/22/2531 So continuing through with warfarin seems to be the newer strategy. What would NOT be done is to stop anticoagulation altogether.
Avatar f tn Yes I'm on the generic enoxaparin. I was on it with my first and forth (all 4 pregnancies were miscarriages). Now I'm on it again since 3 1/2 weeks pregnant.
Avatar f tn I am 30 weeks pregnant. In the last pregnancy (2007), I had still birth at 34 weeks due to IUGR. During the present pregnancy, my doctor has recommended aspirin and Low Molecular Weight Heparin (like Clexane) for the entire pregnancy period. I am regularly taking these both medicines. Regularly undergoing Ultrasound regular scan and Doppler scan. Till now the growth of fetus is good and is better than the last pregnancy. But my platelet count is coming down, now its around 160,000.
312144 tn?1262226991 Thank you for your kind words, warney....He had the fistula put in about 8 months ago. The Doctor never gave much info to him, but, rather assumed that he would want dialysis. His words: "Well, we'll put this in your arm now, just in case you need it". From that we BOTH took it to mean that there was a possibility that he wouldn't need it. Doctors don't like to talk about it either I find. You have my greatest sympathy for your situation, and, I'll pray for you.
Avatar n tn If the kidney dialysis is not started, the failing kidneys will make the heart worse. If the kidney dialysis is started, it could prove fatal. Kidney dialysis can do done in hope that it will not drop the blood pressure down too far. If the kidney dialysis is not done, the heart will suffer. People needing kidney dialysis long-term will usually live 6 months to a year according to the kidney specialist my mom had.

Avatar n tn hey, dialysis is tough, Ive been a kidney patient for 6 years now, and am learning the ups and downs of the disease. Its tough, good luck. Creatinine increase could mean two things : 1. inadequate dialysis or 2. protein in diet... Generally, once kidney failure is detected and a need for dialysis is determined, they look at numbers other than creatininie like Kt/V and other lab values to make sure that he is safe and getting the proper dialysis.
Avatar f tn Now Im on dialysis and waiting for a kidney transplant. I have been called 3 times but not a match yet. First in Oct, then Nov. And now last in March. I have been through all the testing and had been cleared to go forward with the transplat when a good match comes forward. This last test in March I was in the hospital for the potential kidney and the Drs came in saying that I was showing Hep C+. You cant even emagine what I felt. I told them they had to be wrong. and demanded a second test.
Avatar m tn My experience with dialysis is that in the United States, unless something has recently changed, dialysis patients apply for and receive Medicare to cover the cost of dialysis. The social worker at the dialysis center will assist the patient with the application process and everything is billed directly after that. I have never heard of anyone coming out of pocket for dialysis. I am sure someone will set me straight if I am incorrect.
Avatar m tn One of the warnings you recieve when you go in to start dialysis is that you may have a heart attack, among several other problems. I started dialysis July 6th, 2010, and had major heart problems that were made worse from starting the dialysis. Since that time I have had a pacemaker/defib installed and I'm doing a lot better, even though I have dialysis 6 days a week.
Avatar m tn It would depend on how fast the progression of your disease is to know when what will happen but as far as dialysis there are the options of Peritoneal Dialysis (which uses Dextrose and requires good eye sight to do it for yourself at home) or Hemo Dialysis where you would go in center 3 times a week and they would do dialysis on you through a perm catheter in the clavical area or through an AV Fistula which would be made in your arm but would need time to form.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with CKF stage 3 in June and they are still trying to figure out why and whether or not it can be reversed. I have artersclerosis and 80% blockages in both arteries leading to each kidney with shrinkage in each kidney. The vascular surgeon is questioning whether or not that is what caused the CKF or even if they really are that blocked. Meanwhile, I'm wondering what's going to happen to me. How long before I'm in complete kidney failure??
Avatar m tn 7 within 24 hrs. my doctor suggested to undergo dialysis an dafter 3 dialysis my potassium level is normal and i have a creatinine level of 3.4 it was maintained the same creatinine for 3 days after stopping dialysis.. so i am worried abt the dialysis and how can i keep myself the creatinine level and the K level low in the blood . any suggestions plz..
Avatar f tn I'm sure you are worried. Trust your doctors. I don't think dialysis hurts. My niece has been on dialysis for nearly 10 years now. She is on a transplant list, but she has a rare blood and it is taking awhile to get a kidney, but she has a job, she has 4 kids, a husband, and her spirits are high. Dialysis does not need to interupt your life. Just don't let it. I asked my niece how she feels after she has dialysis and she said it gives her energy, takes away the tiredness.
608207 tn?1220397978 Even if you have a little nausea after dialysis you must eat! My dad had 3 potential Kidneys however for some strange Indian Gene my Father had in his bloodline they werent a perfect match.Anyways eat, as for what the Docs tell you I've learned that Some Docs are Government/Save the Insurance Company Interested let you linger on,while other Docs are more sincere, honest and fight for you to get well.Good Doctors are a Rare Find these days! So I've learned.. Good luck!
Avatar m tn Hello and hope you are doing well. For the infection he may need antibiotics. The antibiotic dose needs to be adjusted for patients on dialysis. He should avoid eating outside and should take proper precautions with the fluids consumed. If he is aware of a medicine or food that’s causing the diarrhea, then avoid it. Further avoid foods like milk and milk products, high fat or greasy food, foods that have a lot of fiber like citrus fruits and very sweet foods, such as cakes and sweets.
Avatar m tn Now he had no prob with pacemaker and his pulse was always around 80 until last week when at dialysis his pulse rate fell to 43 on the monitor (lower rate was set at 50) he immediately came off dialysis and now this is his third dialysis and during dialysis his heart rate falls into 40s and post dialysis it improves. Doctors checked the pace maker n they say its ok and the x-rays also show initial positioning of the pacemaker. We are really worried abt him.
Avatar f tn I think eyes 47 is right your dad can live longer he just needs to eat well and be on dialysis. I will be on dialysis soon maybe this Monday. I am in the 4 stage of kidney failure on both kidneys I'm 43 years old.
Avatar f tn It's perfectly normal for your father to have stopped making urine. It's not because he is being dialyzed too much. It's because he is being dialyzed, period. I've had 3 kidney transplants since the age of 19 (lost them @ 16 from Strep) and am currently on dialysis waiting for #4. The machine takes over kidney function.
Avatar m tn Sorry to hear but I am not familiar with any financial support for dialysis patients in the Philippines. I feel for your uncle. I was first on dialysis when I was 16. Then again at the age of 28 after my first transplant. Now I got a 2nd transplant after 7 years on dialysis so am happy again but the new kidney is not working fully. There is no such thing as being too young for this life time disease.
1348086 tn?1370783185 She stayed in the hospital for over a week and then sent her home last night with Hospice. She has dialysis in the morning but I was told that they may not can give it to her because of her condition. What should my family expect? How long will she live?
