Avatar n tn In one study, 50 women with thrombophilia (including 20 factor V Leiden heterozygotes) and recurrent pregnancy loss were treated with enoxaparin throughout 61 subsequent pregnancies. The live birth rate was 75% with enoxaparin prophylaxis, compared to 20% in prior untreated pregnancies [Brenner et al 2000].
Avatar n tn It turns out that portal vein and superior mesenteric vein are thrombosed. They put her on enoxaparin and wanted her to rest for 5 days until the next control. She refused to be put on heparin or warfarin because of her history of gastrointestinal bleeding and recent surgery. We've been told thrombectomy would be extremely risky, given her medical history. I read somewhere enoxaparin only prevents further occlusion of the vein and does not lyse existing clot.
Avatar m tn I am 27 weeks pregnancy and have dvt, start to using CLEXANE(ENOXAPARIN) I am really worried is there any harm to my baby Thanks & Rgards
Avatar n tn continue through with warfarin, or to stop the warfarin and bridge in between with enoxaparin or heparin (as snconorm had done). http://www.circ.ahajournals.org/cgi/content/full/116/22/2531 So continuing through with warfarin seems to be the newer strategy. What would NOT be done is to stop anticoagulation altogether.
Avatar m tn If you check the literature I think you will see that monotherapy is not more effective than combo with dialysis patients but that mono therapy is more effective in dialysis patients than in non-dialsysis patients. This is different and does not mean that riba should be ruled out with people who have kidney problems. Good to see you posting again and hope you're doing well.
Avatar f tn Yes I'm on the generic enoxaparin. I was on it with my first and forth (all 4 pregnancies were miscarriages). Now I'm on it again since 3 1/2 weeks pregnant.
Avatar f tn Hi, My dad (78 years old) is on dialysis since last year due to kidney failure, on top of that he has a Coronary Heart Disease since 2000, so he is on meds. He does 3x a week then reduce to 2x week dialysis. Since last July of this year my dad has been experiencing too much weakness than normal. He can barely walk anymore. Then, he started having too low BP after each dialysis to the point that he passes out & sometimes get stiff.
Avatar n tn Kidney dialysis can lower the blood pressure causing problems with the heart. If the blood pressure drops too far, the liver shuts down due to the heart not pumping properly. If the kidney dialysis is not started, the failing kidneys will make the heart worse. If the kidney dialysis is started, it could prove fatal. Kidney dialysis can do done in hope that it will not drop the blood pressure down too far. If the kidney dialysis is not done, the heart will suffer.

Avatar n tn My husband has been on dialysis for the past .8 months and his health has been fine. But now his last test showed a creatinine level of 16. What could this be from? I am really worried.
Avatar f tn I'm sure you are worried. Trust your doctors. I don't think dialysis hurts. My niece has been on dialysis for nearly 10 years now. She is on a transplant list, but she has a rare blood and it is taking awhile to get a kidney, but she has a job, she has 4 kids, a husband, and her spirits are high. Dialysis does not need to interupt your life. Just don't let it. I asked my niece how she feels after she has dialysis and she said it gives her energy, takes away the tiredness.
Avatar f tn You probably have done nothing to cause the positive Hep C antibodies ther than kidney dialysis. . The dialysis machines can cross infect people with the Hep C virus. About 15% of kidney dialysis patients have Hep C. "Dialysis, also known as kidney dialysis or hemodialysis, is a medical procedure where a machine acts like a kidney and filters and cleans the blood. People who are on long-term dialysis (about 350,000 in the U.S.
Avatar m tn My friend Nory needs help to pay for her dialysis 2X a week. I have been paying it for her in hopes of some charity helping; but so far only PSC has offered any assistance & it is minimal. I have written 100's of letters to many religious & charitable organizations and no luck so far. If anyone knows of a charity that has helped please let us know. I haven't the finances to keep doing this uch longer & she will die. :( Please Help Save Nory's Life!!!
Avatar f tn My niece (her daughter) said that as the time got closer to her needing dialysis, she became more and more confused and then after dialysis, became clear headed again. We do understand this is due to the toxins building and then dialysis cleaning the blood. Approximately 10 days ago, she decided to discontinue dialysis and went home with hospice. Her last dialysis was 2 weeks ago today. My niece says that she’s been extremely confused and making no sense at all.
Avatar f tn Call your local pharmacist. We at MedHelp are not allowed to give out dosing instructions. Your pharmacist will be able to tell you exactly how to dose the medications. If your regular pharmacy is closed on Sunday, call any pharmacist availabe at your local grocery store or drug store such as Walgreens, CVS, or RiteAid.
Avatar m tn It would depend on how fast the progression of your disease is to know when what will happen but as far as dialysis there are the options of Peritoneal Dialysis (which uses Dextrose and requires good eye sight to do it for yourself at home) or Hemo Dialysis where you would go in center 3 times a week and they would do dialysis on you through a perm catheter in the clavical area or through an AV Fistula which would be made in your arm but would need time to form.
Avatar f tn The main 2 categories are Peritoneal Dialysis and Hemo Dialysis. I have been on both. Yes you can live a long time on dialysis as long as you know how to abide by certain diet restrictions (because dialysis can't do everything that kidneys can). It is amazing how much kidneys do and we don't fully appreciate them until we lose them. I was on dialysis this time around for 6 1/2 years before getting a kidney transplant. I have had 2 transplants so far in my life. I am 34.
Avatar m tn My dad is a dialysis patient from last 2 years.but suddenly he had a stomach infection yesterday.my question to you is will it get cured very fast and what are the measures to be taken in order that such things does not happen in the future.

Avatar m tn Now he had no prob with pacemaker and his pulse was always around 80 until last week when at dialysis his pulse rate fell to 43 on the monitor (lower rate was set at 50) he immediately came off dialysis and now this is his third dialysis and during dialysis his heart rate falls into 40s and post dialysis it improves. Doctors checked the pace maker n they say its ok and the x-rays also show initial positioning of the pacemaker. We are really worried abt him.
608207 tn?1220397978 My 38-year-old husband has End-Stage Renal Failure. He has been on dialysis for nearly 2 years now. He takes the normal meds a kidney patient would take: Furosemide, Clonidine, Atenonal, Quinopril, Diavan, Lipitor, and of course his Lantus. He has taken these meds for some time now and hasn't changed anything. For about the past month, he has been sweating excessively....but only at night. He will have to take 3 or 4 showers a night from sweating so much. He soaks the bed from sweating.
Avatar m tn Sorry to hear but I am not familiar with any financial support for dialysis patients in the Philippines. I feel for your uncle. I was first on dialysis when I was 16. Then again at the age of 28 after my first transplant. Now I got a 2nd transplant after 7 years on dialysis so am happy again but the new kidney is not working fully. There is no such thing as being too young for this life time disease.
Avatar f tn I think eyes 47 is right your dad can live longer he just needs to eat well and be on dialysis. I will be on dialysis soon maybe this Monday. I am in the 4 stage of kidney failure on both kidneys I'm 43 years old.
Avatar m tn Hi, My Mother is suffering from Kidney Disease and I would like to know anybody's professional suggestion. Below are some details: Age: 61 BUN: 99.6 Creatinine: 6.7 Hemoglobine: 9.5 She is undergoing Dialysis twice a week and it's been around one month already. What are the possibilities of getting better or recovery. How can one recover from such stage without going under Kidney Transplant. Doctors has suggested not to go under Transplant. Please suggest.
