Enoxaparin before surgery

Common Questions and Answers about Enoxaparin before surgery

lovenox

Avatar n tn It turns out that portal vein and superior mesenteric vein are thrombosed. They put her on enoxaparin and wanted her to rest for 5 days until the next control. She refused to be put on heparin or warfarin because of her history of gastrointestinal bleeding and recent surgery. We've been told thrombectomy would be extremely risky, given her medical history. I read somewhere enoxaparin only prevents further occlusion of the vein and does not lyse existing clot.
Avatar n tn If your father is taking Coumadin and his INR is high, the blood thinning can be reversed with intravenous medication, called Vitamin K, before the procedure. Even if his blood had already been thinned with Coumadin, he will receive intravenous Heparin blood thinner. Heparin works immediately, and the effects only last for a short time after the drug is stopped.
Avatar n tn In one study, 50 women with thrombophilia (including 20 factor V Leiden heterozygotes) and recurrent pregnancy loss were treated with enoxaparin throughout 61 subsequent pregnancies. The live birth rate was 75% with enoxaparin prophylaxis, compared to 20% in prior untreated pregnancies [Brenner et al 2000].

410234 tn?1206634191 I know how hard of a decision this is. I did have surgery when I was trying to get pregnant. The first surgery (not first surgery but first for trying to get pregnant) did not work but the second surgery I had (about 8 months later) I did get pregnant 3 months after that with clomid. I now have a baby but it was a very difficult pregnancy. So I do believe the surgery helps. Actually I got pregnant after the first surgery also but I did miscarry (2nd miscarriage).
Avatar f tn bottle of Gatorade and drink it all the day before surgery. Has anyone else done this and I am hoping I will not get sick. Thought I was reading the instructions wrong at first, but , yep for sure, its the whole Miralax Jar.
725998 tn?1258048708 It is normal to feel a little apprehensive before your surgery. The other ladies are spot on. Reading to much can make you a nervous wreck. It sounds like your doctor is on the ball and he can't say for sure what the cyst is until they get a biopsy of the cyst. I suggest that you take some time for yourself before your surgery and do something that makes you feel good ( a manicure, pedicure, new haircut....). THis will help you relax and take your mind off of stuff for a bit.
Avatar f tn What type of surgery are you having? There is a great thread on here, "top 10 things I have learned from laparoscopic cyst/ovary removal". It's very informative and light hearted enough to maybe assuage your fears. What aspects of the surgery are worrying you? Have you had any surgical procedures before? Many of us on here have had surgery recently, so if you let us know your specific concerns I'm sure someone will be able to help.
7595935 tn?1392396868 My surgery was in March 2002. I lived on another planet for about a month after surgery while my body adjusted to everything. When lying down my feet felt like they were floating, etc. I also couldn't hold my head up completely straight because the muscles in your neck are cut during surgery. All this to say that you won't be able to do much, or anything for that matter, for about a month afterwards so hopefully you have someone to take care of your kids.
14818559 tn?1436720920 I had to take 600mg of Advil (at once) to stop a 29 hour migraine. I was given a list of drugs to stop taking 14 days before surgery so there are no complications from bleeding, Advil is one of them on the list. Is this going to be a problem for the surgery? Will 3 Advil thin my blood that much after three days?
Avatar m tn s supposed to do. She recomended he get the retina surgery before the cataract surgery. So basically, my dad is thinking that the retina surgeon is trying to get more business for his friend. What do you guys think?
