Avatar n tn t too sure where to post this, I have been taking a daily dose of tinzaparin for the last 4 months to treat my bilateral pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis, and i have noticed my hairline receding and my overall head of hair thinning.
Avatar n tn It turns out that portal vein and superior mesenteric vein are thrombosed. They put her on enoxaparin and wanted her to rest for 5 days until the next control. She refused to be put on heparin or warfarin because of her history of gastrointestinal bleeding and recent surgery. We've been told thrombectomy would be extremely risky, given her medical history. I read somewhere enoxaparin only prevents further occlusion of the vein and does not lyse existing clot.

Avatar f tn I wad injecting in the stomach but started developing scar tissue and it was getting sorer and sorer.
Avatar n tn continue through with warfarin, or to stop the warfarin and bridge in between with enoxaparin or heparin (as snconorm had done). http://www.circ.ahajournals.org/cgi/content/full/116/22/2531 So continuing through with warfarin seems to be the newer strategy. What would NOT be done is to stop anticoagulation altogether.
Avatar f tn Yes I'm on the generic enoxaparin. I was on it with my first and forth (all 4 pregnancies were miscarriages). Now I'm on it again since 3 1/2 weeks pregnant.
Avatar n tn I did both hemodialysis and then changed to peritoneal dialysis. I can honestly say, that a transplant was the better option for me, however it isn't necessarily a permanent fix. My first kidney suffered from multiple acute rejection episodes as well as chronic rejection until eventually I had to go back on dialysis.
Avatar n tn My husband has ESRD, has been having home hemodialysis for 9 months, and is listed for a kidney transplant. After he went on dialysis his urine production slowed down to twice a day which I was told is expected. For the last few days he has almost gotten back to his normal urine production.
Avatar m tn Their immunosuppression relied on calcineurin inhibitors (100%), and/or steroids (62%), and/or antimetabolites (94%). An induction therapy, given to 22 patients, relied on rabbit antithymocyte globulin (59%) or anti-IL2-receptor blockers (32%). All patients had undetectable HCV RNA as ascertained by several conventional tests.
Avatar f tn Hi Kerry-- Sorry to hear about your Mom. (Both my parents have been battling CHF, so I know it's a bummer, to say the least!) A very good website is http://www.diabetes.org/living-with-diabetes/complications/kidney-disease-nephropathy.html-- The first part of the website in particular explains the relationship between diabetes and kidney function pretty well, I think. Most of our body is water, so when the fluid balance gets off, things can really get messed up.
Avatar m tn This article illustrates why I believe Occult and Persistent HCV are two entirely different entities. The Occult form seems to affect the liver, and generally produces high LFT's. It also seems to occur in hemodialysis and IVDU's at a fairly consistent rate, and seems to have a known origin...it just fails to infect the blood, and produces no serum antibodies.
Avatar n tn Vancomycin is often used to help those with ulcerative colitis (cramping diarrhea with blood and mucus in stools). You need to get checked out by a doctor.
Avatar f tn I have been on progesterone suppositories, baby asprin, folic acid, prenatal vitamins and enoxaparin.
Avatar f tn Maybe i forgot to mention I only had inflammation 5 yrs ago and now have fibrosis. I think hemodialysis and its suppression of immune function is making the HCV disease progress. Ribavirin leads to severe hemolysis in people with a creatinine clearance of less than 20; mine is about 7. Although there have been no proper scientific trials yet because they are scared to enroll people in the riba arm; thinking it might be a bit unethical to risk their lives in the name of scientific inquiry.
Avatar f tn I am regularly taking these both medicines. Regularly undergoing Ultrasound regular scan and Doppler scan. Till now the growth of fetus is good and is better than the last pregnancy. But my platelet count is coming down, now its around 160,000. I have heard, usually during pregnancy platelet count comes down. I am worried whether this is just incidental one or is it because of the medicines i am taking. My doctor tells, it shouldn't come down less than 150,000.
Avatar n tn My husband has been diagnosed with non-ischemic cardiomyopathy, congestive heart failure, high blood pressure, kidney failure, and his arotic valve doesn't close properly, and he had a defibulator put in about three months ago. He has been on hemodialysis for 9 years. He has just finished 6 weeks of IV antibiotics for an infection that attached to his arotic valve and also in the lining of his heart. Dr.
Avatar m tn I had a liver transplant 15 years ago, been doing good until lately, yellowing, and now they say I have kidney disease..anyone know what this means? I would appreciate a reply asap...
Avatar m tn absolutely not, hiv tests have very poor sensibility and still use elisa method and can even be influenced by oxidative stress in blood, i d not test again snce the test is so unreliable but if you want to test again i suggest you to eliminate possible interference from oxidative stress by at least 5 weeks of: liposomal vitamin c and liposomal glutathione from livon labs, even if 5 weeks is a very short time this should lower oxidative stress to normal levels Factors Known to Cause False-Posit
Avatar f tn He has been hospitalized in another state with acute renal failure and has started hemodialysis that they’re hoping will be short term. Creatinine levels are have remained concerning and they’re also trying to now manage blood pressure (180/99). Waiting on the results of biopsy to know more. During his hospitalization, he’s simultaneously tested positive for Hep B and Hep C. No other recent health issues, history of psoriasis and asthma - both mostly untreated.

Avatar m tn While at the health club in the locker room, I stepped and cut my foot on a used BIC disposable razor. The razor was all ready used and contained hair, dried skin and little blood drops on it that appeared dry. I have read that sharing razors can cause the spread Hep. Was I at risk for Hep? Do I need testing?
Avatar n tn My daugther has atrial fibrillation and has had 3 mini-strokes, is on 5mg coumadin , which is not working very well for her and just was in the hospital for another TIA. While at the hospital she was also on herprin the whole time, but on returning hom the problem with the coumadin storted every other day changing the dosage. We were told this is the only blood thinner she can take because she is also on dialysis and is HIV, which is under control.
612551 tn?1450022175 In particular, people taking fish oil or long-chain omega-3 fatty acid (EPA and DHA) supplements in combination with anticoagulant drugs, including aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), dalteparin (Fragmin), dipyridamole (Persantine), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, ticlopidine (Ticlid) and warfarin (Coumadin), should have their coagulation status monitored using a standardized prothrombin time assay (INR).
