Avatar n tn The levels don't mean the thyroid is not enlarged or having nodules -- would consider a thyroid ultrasound to evaluate this.
Avatar f tn thanks for the reply. So even with normal thyroid levels does this mean there is NO chance I could have hashimotos or graves disorder? What problems can arise from ANA levels not being normal? I have had an ultrasound and it showed an enlarged thyroid but no nodules.
Avatar f tn I had all tests 6years ago and discharged. If my thyroid levels are normal why would my thyroid be enlarged and 'mottled' in appearance on the scan? I'm scared this may be thyroid cancer? Can you have thyroiditis with normal thyroid levels?
Avatar m tn I have had numerous tests which show normal thyroid profiles (TSH, T3, T4, etc) however ultrasounds and CT scans have shown that I have an enlarged thyroid with nodules. I have also developed food and environmental allergies, as well as chronic lymphdenopathy in my groin, armpits, and neck. I have increasing ANA levels (1:300+) and a high Rheumatoid factor. While my TSH has fluctuated in and out of range, it has not stayed high or low.
Avatar n tn Thank you for responding back. My blood work test came back notmal. My thyroid function and calcium levels are normal. I did have a low vitamin d deficiency so she did recommend me to take vitamins.
Avatar n tn The thyroid levels appear normal. The nuclear scan does not add anything to the evaluation and the slightly high uptake levels are not meaningful in the absence of thyroid dysfunction and may be due to relative low iodine in the diet. The exception would be a fluctuation in thyroid function but the repeatedly normal TSH levels over time suggest against this.
1826858 tn?1323796104 Had to fight with her to order ultrasound. She never even touched my neck to see if thyroid was enlarged. I do know that my vit. d, 25-hydroxy is 20.2 ng/ml and I'm having severe muscle spasms in right shoulder and neck could this be the cause of all this even my thyroid being enlarged?
Avatar n tn 11 year old granddaughter with enlarged thyroid and multiple masses around it according to scan - blood work normal - has a large bump on her neck area - what is it?
Avatar n tn From what I've experienced with thyroid disease (I had pregnancy induced hypo-thyroid, my ex husband has hypo-thyroid, and 2 of my children have hypo-thyroid), cysts alone, with normal thyroid levels isn't something that can be treated at this point. What it could mean is that you may develop abnormal thyroid levels in the future, and that your levels should be tested once per year.
Avatar n tn I have a 10 yr old daughter whos thyroid looked enlarged to me so I brought her into her doctor and blood tests were all normal. I pushed for an ultrasound on her thyroid, and it came back with a small cyst on the left side. They tell me not to worry and to come back in 3mts but I am terrifified does anyone know anything about this?
Avatar f tn Since serum thyroid levels are the sum of both natural thyroid and thyroid med, the level may not increase at all until the TSH is diminished to a low enough level that it no longer stimulates the thyroid gland, At that point, further increases in thyroid med will cause an increase in Free T4 and Free T3 levels. At this point there is insufficient evidence that your hypothyroidism is the sole cause for your symptoms.
Avatar f tn at 23 i had a abnormal ekg and my thyroid was enlarged. But my chest x-ray looked good and my tsh level was normal. I have had several problems for the past 15 yrs. my vitamin d is low now and i am on 5ok IUs every 5 days now. could all this be cause by my Thyroid. have every symptom of a hyperthyroid. so musch so 3 dr.s have tested me for it. just do not understand.
757973 tn?1234458769 I've never had thyroidectomy-although I'm considering it b/c of strong family history of thyroid cancer and I have a lymph node that is enlarged in front of my thyroid... Anyway my Thyroglobulin was <2 and my Thyroglobulin antibodies were 71 ml/U.
Avatar f tn ve always been fatigued and tired and had low energy levels. I found out last year that my thyroid is underactive along with finding out I'm going through early menopause. Talk about a double Whammy. So, i'm on Synthroid now for my thyroid. Well, a few months ago I took my 9 year old daughter to the dr for a check up and the dr noticed her throat was enlarged.
Avatar f tn Goiter is simply an enlarged/swollen thyroid. Your thyroid consists of 2 lobes and an isthmus.Did you have a nodule removed or one lobe of your thyroid. What are your actual thyroid hormone levels (Free T3 and Free T4)? Hypothyroidism can cause hoarseness. An ENT should know that. Would you by any chance be a smoker?
Avatar f tn I have been treating with an endo because I have the symptoms of PCOS (Polycystic ovarian syndrome). I am 28 but at about 18 I started to develop facial hair & it has gotten worse thru the years. I have never experienced any ovarian cysts and was able to conceive without trouble. Also, I have weight gain problems and difficulty losing weight.
Avatar f tn I was just wondering if anyone had experienced these symptoms with their thyroid levels being normal? Any advice or support would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Avatar m tn around when I was seventeen to eighteen I started getting a high TSH like highest was 6.85 ..but always normal t3 and t4 levels and normal thyroid peroxidase and thyroglobin antibodies...I was put on various..levels of synthroid took that for about two and a half years and TSH was normalized but never low than 3.10...I had my first ultrasound in nov 2011 which revealed multiple subcentimeter thyroid nodules up to 0.5 mm in size...
Avatar f tn I recently had a thyroid untrasound done and I need help with these results: Isthmus .62cm Right thyroid lobe 5.6x2.4x2.4cm left thryroid lobe 5.1x2.1x1.8 findings: There is heterogeneous echogenicity throught the thyroid gland. There is mild hypervascularity. There is a 1.3 x.7 cm heterogeneous hypoechoic solid nodule along the mid pole of the left lobe There is a 1.4x1.11 cm cystic-solid nodule along the posterior aspect of the mid pole of the left lobe There is a 1.5 x 1.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with an enlarged Goiter around 2 years ago. I am 47 and 9 years ago my doctor took out my left ovary and uterus. To completed my luck, I have been fighting with gain weight for more than 14 years. I used to be 135 lbs and now I am 180lbs! My thyroid doctor (2nd opinion doctor) says I don't need medications because all my hormones test are "normal". I do exercises and NOTHING happens...
Avatar m tn TSH is a pituitary hormone and not always a good indicator of thyroid disease. With that said, I do believe that a 6.1 TSH should not be ignored. If you endo knows squat about thyroid disease, the doc should order the FreeT4 and FreeT3 tests to determine your ACTUAL thyroid levels and then the TPOab and TGab to determine if Hashimoto's is behind this high TSH. Ninety percent of hypo patients in developed countries have Hashi, an auto-immune thyroid disease.
