Avatar f tn My husband had an ultrasound done last week that revealed that the left thyroid lobe is enlarged, nodular and heterogeneous. There is a mass, heterogeneous and partially cystic measuring 2.4x2.1x1.3cm and a larger mass also heterogeneous solid and partially cystic measures 3.9x4.1x3.6. Our question how critical is the skill of the Dr. that performs the FNA? Also, is there anything from the description of the masses that will alleviate some anxiety while we wait for the FNA results?
Avatar f tn 0 cm with several hypoecoic nodules and associated increased vascularity, consistent with an enlarged thyroid lobe. Also the right lobe of thyroid measures 2.4x2.1x4.0 cm. The right is heterogenous in appearance. Right thyroid lobe large heterogenous solid nodule/mass measuring 2.1x1.9x3.1 cm additional small cystic nodules within the right thyroid lobe, largest measuring 0.
Avatar f tn Mass is the general term ;it can mean the solid nodule in your case. Full ultrasound report [with dimensions] and blood test results can be helpful answer your question with better details.
Avatar f tn Autoimmune thyroid disease. Maybe.
Avatar n tn 2 cm. the nurse i spoke with said that the thyroid gland was enlarged by 6.5x2.1x1.9 what does this mean????
1198033 tn?1265217629 Basically, what they told me is that my thyroid is enlarged with a solid mass on each lobe and one on the inside of the thyroid. I've started trying to research information, but I'm so lost...I guess I need to know more to know anything...
Avatar f tn I did have to have my submandibular gland removed due to a mass attached to it along with two lymph nodes that had become enlarged due to infection. The mass turned out to be benign, but my surgeon said there was not anyway of knowing unless it came out. My mass, lymph nodes had grown in size as well. Turned out my submandibular gland was badly infected. My pain is all gone & doing well. Get a second opinion.
Avatar m tn fast forward had another ultrasound nov 2013 which revealed no nodules no cysts or growths but enlarged left and right thyroid lobes.. This year I have gained and lost the same twenty pounds due to a gastric condition but other than that it has always been impossible for me to loose weight. THYORID ULTRASOUND NOV, 2011 RIGHT LOBE: 5.5 X 1.4 X 1.7 CM. LEFT LOBE: 4.6 X 1.4 X 1.9 CM.
Avatar n tn Findings: Right and left lobes of the thyroid gland are slightly enlarged measuring 5.1 cm in greatest dimension each. Within the lower pole of the right lobe thyroid gland is a slightly hypoechoic fairly well circumscribed 6mm mass, which demonstrates some internal vascularity. No microcalcifications are seen. Within lower pole of the left lobe thyroid gland is a slightly hypoechoic, slightly vascular 2.1 cm mass. No microcalcifications are seen. Is FNB the only option?
Avatar n tn It seems like report does not include the overall size of your thyroid (enlarged thyroid with nodules is sign of the thyroiditis in many cases)
Avatar f tn s the same. For example the first ultrasound said that my right lobe is rather enlarged with an additional Mass on it. So are those two issue's separate?
Avatar f tn In most cases of an enlarged thyroid with nodules, the labs will be normal indicating that the thyroid function is normal..although some nodules are huge, it doesn't effect the function of the thyroid in most cases. Those who have thyroid conditions, such as Graves Disease or hypothyroidism may have abnormal labs indicating that the thyroid function is abnormal. In your case, you will have a fna biopsy to rule out any abnormal cells that can cause cancer.
Avatar n tn 54 cm. The left lobe is enlarged 5.8 x 1.7 x 2.0 heterogeneous is echotexture. There is an mass on the left pole hypoechoic possible cyst measuring 1.0 x .6 x .8 . the right nodule showed several calcifications. Can someone please explain this to me, i have no idea how to read it and my doctor dodnt excatly do a very good job explaining! Thank you!!!
Avatar f tn Right lobe of the thyroid is enlarged due to the presence of 4.5x2.5cm fluid-filled mass. Left lobe of the thyroid is in normal of size and echotexture.Left lobe measures 4.3x 1.1cm. No calcification was appreciated. Absence of cervical lymphadenopathy. Visualize vessels are normal in caliber. Remainder is unremarkable. IMPRESSIONS: Cystic thyroid nodule, right.
Avatar m tn The mass/gland is nontender most of the time, but I have noticed in the last couple of days some tenderness and what feels like a mass above the lower mass. Not sure if this is separate or simply overlying. I do have night sweats, but I attributed this to menopause...wake up wet in some areas of neck and chest/legs. I also have noted itching of feet, often around my midsection/back and around armpits (thought maybe I have a reaction to some deodorants, but no rash/redness).
Avatar n tn While pregnant with my now 17 year old my thyroid was enlarged. My bloodwork was normal at this time. Nothing was mentioned about my thyroid being enlarged again until about 5 years ago at my yearly GYN checkup. My doctor noticed that my thyroid was enlarged and again ordered bloodwork. Again it was normal. At this past visit she noticed that my thryroid seemed a bit larger and she was worried enough to order an Ultrasound and bloodwork (bloodwork was normal for the third time).

Avatar f tn Enlarged heterogeneous thyroid gland,2. Dominant 2.1 mass in mid right lobe 3,Dominant 3.4 X 1.8 cm mass in the left lobe. Further evaluation with thyroid scan recommended. Biopsy may be needed thereafter. I am wondering about several things, Why is there no mention of these masses being fluid or solid? it seems like this is lacking in clarity and information. Is there a significant difference in the use of the word 'mass' vs ' nodule'?
Avatar m tn The isthmus measures 3mm in diameter. There are no cysts or masses within either lobe of the thyroid. Impression - Diffusely slightly enlarged thyroid gland but no nodules. Test: Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies; <10 IU/mL (<35) Are there any other tests that should be ordered? Should another ultrasound be conducted to follow-up on the mass in the left gland? Any other ideas?
254714 tn?1316613355 moderately enlarged right and left lobe of the thyroid with multiple nodules in the left lobe as well as towards the pyramidal lobe...
Avatar n tn I have followed up with my local health department Doctor to be pushed off on to a general surgeon. I was told if I turn blue to seek help other then that I should be happy I’m not in pain. I need help and don't know what to do. Please help!
