Avatar m tn I’ve had 2 needle biopsies both inconclusive. The Thyroid specialist is more concerned with the wall of the enlarged thyroid rather then the liquid within it. All my blood work is normal however the thyroid specialist told me that it’s about a 15-20% chance it could be cancer. I haven't had too many problems with the enlarged thyroid besides the fact I feel pressure when I swallow. but I worry that it will get worse and it will also affect my breathing.
Avatar n tn Thyroid very asymmetric in appearance. Right lobe measures 4.9x1.8x1.7cm. No obvious focal mass but is quite enlarged and slightly heterogeneous. The isthmus is thick in the right side and thins towards the middle and the left side. Left lobe measures only 2.4x0.6x1cm in size and it contains a small 7mmx5mm cyst. My PCP had informed me that they really didn't find anything but my own review of the report has me worried. My TSH bloodwork came back in normal range. What does this mean?
Avatar f tn The ENT told me the CT showed no tumors or anything and my thyroid was fine. Now a year later I am being told my thyroid is enlarged. What could be the cause? I had a scan done in January right before my ablation and nothing was noted about my thyroid then. What are the chances of this being cancer? Thank you in advance for your help.
Avatar f tn i am really concerned about my health, i have been told that i have an enlarged thyroid, it was 2 other doctors that asked me if i have had my thyroid checked when i went in for something else at an out of hours clinic, so i went and saw my doctor and told him about it. My Gp has made me an appointment to go and see an ender something i cant remember what they are called.
Avatar m tn I have had numerous tests which show normal thyroid profiles (TSH, T3, T4, etc) however ultrasounds and CT scans have shown that I have an enlarged thyroid with nodules. I have also developed food and environmental allergies, as well as chronic lymphdenopathy in my groin, armpits, and neck. I have increasing ANA levels (1:300+) and a high Rheumatoid factor. While my TSH has fluctuated in and out of range, it has not stayed high or low.

All my blood work is normal however the thyroid specialist told me that it’s about a 15-20% chance it could be cancer. My specialist has given me two options 1) Have the thyroid removed or 2) have a biopsy every 6 months and monitor it. Part of me wants to have it removed and not risk it being cancerous plus...
Avatar n tn Is it normal functioning if the right side of my thyroid is enlarged and the left side almost nonexistent? My bloodwork always comes back ok.. Also is there any relativity with thyroid issues and frozen shoulder? I have had it in one shoulder without injuring it and am almost certain it is in my other one.
Avatar m tn I increased my dosage of Armour Thyroid to 90 mg per day about a week ago. Now my thyroid is swollen and my heart rate is 90. My normal heart rate is 70-72. Has this happended to anyone else? I used to take Levoxyl and Cytomol and never had this problems.
Avatar m tn The scan showed that my thyroid was a large, asymetric thyroid, predominantly involving the left lobe with a low density lesion at the inferior pole of the left lobe of the thyroid. It is a lower density lesion measuring 1.6 x 1.3 x 1.3 cm containing a punctate calcification at the lower pole of the left thyroid lobe. Is this cancer or a goiter. Should I see a surgeon first or an endocrinologist?
Avatar m tn I am just wondering what could cause the thyroid gland to be enlarged but blood test normal? Is there another possible disease or something that I could have causing the thyroid gland to enlarge? My doctor I'm currently going to doesn't seem to think its a thyroid disease anymore but can't answer my question of why my thyroid keeps enlarging.
Avatar f tn I've noticed that my thyroid seems enlarged as of the last few weeks and I've an apt this THUR with the Endo. Also the areas below my neck (in between neck and shoulder) look a little swollen. I cannot feel any lymph nodes---just feels like water or fat. I am 4 months postpartum and my thyroid has. Been very well controlled and monitored. The swelling seems to have started after my Endo added T3 cytomel 5 to 10 much per day.
Avatar f tn My daughter who is 5 1/2 is being sent for an ultrasound because her doctor said she has an enlarged thyroid. Does that necessarily mean that something is drastically wrong or what are some things that could be causing this? I am very nervous because I have read all these things on the internet that it could be cancerous. Plus at her last visit her blood work was off they said her diferential shifted some...she is getting more blood work this week.
Avatar n tn The thyroid gland is enlarged. Multiple thyroid nodules are present, none of which meets Society of Radiologist’s in Ultrasound criteria for strong consideration to fine needle aspiration biopsy and at least three of which appear to contain colloid.
Avatar f tn Slightly enlarged right thyroid lobe, with multiple cystic foci, probably represent colloid cyst, the largest in the lower pole with internal calcification. Consider follow up in 6-12 months. Correlate with Thyroid function test. My questions. I read that cystic nodules are the most likely to have cancer. So why is the recommendation that I just follow up in 6-12 months? I have read women say they felt their best with TSH levels of 1 to 1.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your response this Dr. was a endocrinologist he put me on it cause I have enlarged thyroid gained weight and been real tired I kept telling him how bad I was feeling that I wasn't getting any better I actually told him I felt worse he said my labs were fine it just takes time but I know that wasn't right cause hospital told me it was the thyroid meds said tsh level are 0.0 I might find another Dr.
Avatar f tn Recently I had an ultrasound on my thyroid because of a lump in my throat. Ultrasound shows gland is enlarged but blood test are normal. Waiting 2 months to see endo. I feel my thyroid is bigger so I went to my family Dr. He said it is probably fat tissue as a thyroid doea not get as big as mine with normal labs. The Dr said the endo may not even address the issue. I'm a little worried. Can't a biopsy be done or other blood work to insure there is nothing wrong?
Avatar n tn I had half my thyroid removed in 2002 and the other half removed in 2004. Both surgeries were due to non-cancer tumor growth. They did not remove the parathyroid glands. I now am experiencing a feeling of a lump in my throat when I swallow and the front of my neck seems swollen or enlarged. It is very difficult to swallow if my head is even slightly titled up. What could be causing this?
Avatar m tn The interesting thing is the symptoms of Low T in women virtually match identically the low thyroid symptom list. So the difficulty is to convince the Dr. that her lasting symptoms may be low T and not Hypo thyroid is a touch argument to make. And there is no gurantee that it is not BOTH. All I know is that the tests show she is BELOW range. As you can see above they won't even list the amount. It simply says less than 0.20 which is the botom of the range.
1109439 tn?1259290757 5cm the left lobe and the isthmus of the thyroid are enlarged. an 8mm slightly hyperechoic nodule is seen in the lower pole of the right lobe of the thyroid. two large nodules are seen in the isthmus towards the left lobe and the lower poleof the left lobe of the thyroid measuring 2.9 x 4.2 in diameter respectively both the nodules appear well defined, solid and slightly hyperechoic in appearance. diffuse heterogeneous appearance of the entire left lobe of the thyroid is noted.
Avatar f tn My ultrasound showed that my uterous and endometrium was enlarged. My endometrium is enlarged at 2cm and their is fluid found in my uterous. My endometrium shows heterogeneous fibroid change but no focal fibroid can be seen. I have been bleed a lot the past few days with soaking a pad every two to three hours and passing blood clots. Anyone have any idea what could be going on?
930579 tn?1248134676 Hashi's is usually treated with a natural or synthetic hormone replacement taken in the form of a pill daily in the morning. Autoimmune thyroiditis (Hashimoto's) is basically when the body attacks it's own thyroid, so the treatment is to replace the hormones that the body is no longer making (or making less of).... and also in any situation were there is an autoimmune reaction it is possible for there to be swollen lymphs.
Avatar f tn According to the doctor, I had a LARGE thyroid, but not an ENLARGED thyroid, and no action was taken. I have started gaining weight beyond the weight gain of my antidepressants. Besides the weight gain and aversion to heat, I am at a loss about what to think. I had an MRI without contrast (allergy to shellfish), and now I've been summoned to the ENDO clinic in 4 days. Does anybody have ideas? My last blood workup seemed to be normal.
