Avatar f tn I've noticed that my thyroid seems enlarged as of the last few weeks and I've an apt this THUR with the Endo. Also the areas below my neck (in between neck and shoulder) look a little swollen. I cannot feel any lymph nodes---just feels like water or fat. I am 4 months postpartum and my thyroid has. Been very well controlled and monitored. The swelling seems to have started after my Endo added T3 cytomel 5 to 10 much per day.
Avatar n tn I've read the asian community ususally eats many times the daily allowance in iodine in seaweed/kelp in their diets and they stay very healthy. And that Dr.'s in the US are conservative wtih iodine, but in truth naturopaths know and will give people very high dosages and that's not that unusual to be on higher dosages.
Avatar n tn Thyroid very asymmetric in appearance. Right lobe measures 4.9x1.8x1.7cm. No obvious focal mass but is quite enlarged and slightly heterogeneous. The isthmus is thick in the right side and thins towards the middle and the left side. Left lobe measures only 2.4x0.6x1cm in size and it contains a small 7mmx5mm cyst. My PCP had informed me that they really didn't find anything but my own review of the report has me worried. My TSH bloodwork came back in normal range. What does this mean?
Avatar f tn The ENT told me the CT showed no tumors or anything and my thyroid was fine. Now a year later I am being told my thyroid is enlarged. What could be the cause? I had a scan done in January right before my ablation and nothing was noted about my thyroid then. What are the chances of this being cancer? Thank you in advance for your help.
Avatar f tn i am really concerned about my health, i have been told that i have an enlarged thyroid, it was 2 other doctors that asked me if i have had my thyroid checked when i went in for something else at an out of hours clinic, so i went and saw my doctor and told him about it. My Gp has made me an appointment to go and see an ender something i cant remember what they are called.
Avatar n tn An iso or slightly hyperechoic nodule with hypoechoic rim measuring 1.3 cm is presin in the lower right thyroid lobe. A tiny .4 cm hypoechoic nodule is present in the lower left thryroid lobe. Impression: Heterogeneous thyroid gland may reflect a thyroiditis, possibly Hoshimoto's. A 1.3 solid nodule lower right thyroid lobe. I cant get into an endocronologist for 3 weeks. I am concerned that the solid mass may be cancer and dont know if I should wait the 3 weeks or find a new doctor.
Avatar m tn I have had numerous tests which show normal thyroid profiles (TSH, T3, T4, etc) however ultrasounds and CT scans have shown that I have an enlarged thyroid with nodules. I have also developed food and environmental allergies, as well as chronic lymphdenopathy in my groin, armpits, and neck. I have increasing ANA levels (1:300+) and a high Rheumatoid factor. While my TSH has fluctuated in and out of range, it has not stayed high or low.
Avatar n tn Is it normal functioning if the right side of my thyroid is enlarged and the left side almost nonexistent? My bloodwork always comes back ok.. Also is there any relativity with thyroid issues and frozen shoulder? I have had it in one shoulder without injuring it and am almost certain it is in my other one.
Avatar m tn I increased my dosage of Armour Thyroid to 90 mg per day about a week ago. Now my thyroid is swollen and my heart rate is 90. My normal heart rate is 70-72. Has this happended to anyone else? I used to take Levoxyl and Cytomol and never had this problems.
Avatar m tn The scan showed that my thyroid was a large, asymetric thyroid, predominantly involving the left lobe with a low density lesion at the inferior pole of the left lobe of the thyroid. It is a lower density lesion measuring 1.6 x 1.3 x 1.3 cm containing a punctate calcification at the lower pole of the left thyroid lobe. Is this cancer or a goiter. Should I see a surgeon first or an endocrinologist?
Avatar m tn I am just wondering what could cause the thyroid gland to be enlarged but blood test normal? Is there another possible disease or something that I could have causing the thyroid gland to enlarge? My doctor I'm currently going to doesn't seem to think its a thyroid disease anymore but can't answer my question of why my thyroid keeps enlarging.
Avatar f tn My daughter who is 5 1/2 is being sent for an ultrasound because her doctor said she has an enlarged thyroid. Does that necessarily mean that something is drastically wrong or what are some things that could be causing this? I am very nervous because I have read all these things on the internet that it could be cancerous. Plus at her last visit her blood work was off they said her diferential shifted some...she is getting more blood work this week.
Avatar n tn The thyroid gland is enlarged. Multiple thyroid nodules are present, none of which meets Society of Radiologist’s in Ultrasound criteria for strong consideration to fine needle aspiration biopsy and at least three of which appear to contain colloid.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your response this Dr. was a endocrinologist he put me on it cause I have enlarged thyroid gained weight and been real tired I kept telling him how bad I was feeling that I wasn't getting any better I actually told him I felt worse he said my labs were fine it just takes time but I know that wasn't right cause hospital told me it was the thyroid meds said tsh level are 0.0 I might find another Dr.
Avatar n tn I had half my thyroid removed in 2002 and the other half removed in 2004. Both surgeries were due to non-cancer tumor growth. They did not remove the parathyroid glands. I now am experiencing a feeling of a lump in my throat when I swallow and the front of my neck seems swollen or enlarged. It is very difficult to swallow if my head is even slightly titled up. What could be causing this?
Avatar n tn ve experienced with thyroid disease (I had pregnancy induced hypo-thyroid, my ex husband has hypo-thyroid, and 2 of my children have hypo-thyroid), cysts alone, with normal thyroid levels isn't something that can be treated at this point. What it could mean is that you may develop abnormal thyroid levels in the future, and that your levels should be tested once per year. A few years after my youngest daughter was diagnosed, my middle daughter had goiter (a significantly enlarged thyroid).
1109439 tn?1259290757 5cm the left lobe and the isthmus of the thyroid are enlarged. an 8mm slightly hyperechoic nodule is seen in the lower pole of the right lobe of the thyroid. two large nodules are seen in the isthmus towards the left lobe and the lower poleof the left lobe of the thyroid measuring 2.9 x 4.2 in diameter respectively both the nodules appear well defined, solid and slightly hyperechoic in appearance. diffuse heterogeneous appearance of the entire left lobe of the thyroid is noted.
Avatar f tn I have an enlarged thyroid on the right side. I also get muffled feeling in my ear and have now been told that I have several swollen nodes down the right neck. I am currently being treated for the enlarged thyroid with Levothyroxine and an antibiotic for the swollen glands. In order to determine if your neck pain and adam's apple are thyroid related, you must go to the doctor. I went to several (sorry to say), but am finally being treated.
Avatar f tn What you feel in the throat probably is associated with the enlarged thyroid. You are wise to investigate any cysts as you have done so far. CA-125 is a marker for other cancers besides ovarian cancer including uterine tubes, endometrium, lung, breast, pancreas, and gastrointestinal tract. Not saying you have any of those! It sounds like the thyroid connection may be the culprit but I don't understand much about thyroid disorders. Maybe a thyroid medication would be prescribed to you.
Avatar n tn He said that I need to be aware if I am ill of thyroid storm symptoms. I still have the multinodular enlarged thyroid. How valid is an Uptake scan at determining Graves? He felt a TSI was not real necessary since the thyroid hormones were all within normal ranges at this time, but we would retest in 3months and he wants me to go see a cardiologist. Any thoughts on this?
Avatar f tn During the course of this disease, the cells of the thyroid becomes inefficient in converting iodine into thyroid hormone and "compensates" by enlarging (for a review of this process see our function page). The radioactive iodine uptake may be paradoxically high while the patient is hypothyroid because the gland retains the ability to take-up or "trap" iodine even after it has lost its ability to produce thyroid hormone.
Avatar m tn In the upper pole the left thyroid there is a 7 x 5 x 3 mm hypoechoic solid nodule without central flow or microcalcifications. No left sided adenopathy is detected. Went to endo, because my brother had papillary thyroid cancer he biopsied one of them. It came back benign. He said to follow up in one year. Now it's one year later and this is the result of my ultrasound: From Apr 2011: Right Thyroid: Nodule #1: mid pole, 1.2 x 0.9 by 1.
Avatar n tn A high antibody count along with your symptoms likely indicates an autoimmune thyroid disease where your body is attacking your thyroid. This can cause inflammation and result in an enlarged thyroid. Is the TSH high? Are on you on meds?
Avatar n tn Anyone know what a visibly larger/fatter neck means? It's not a thyroid problem, as I've had 3 tests done and they all show I have normal thyroid. And it's not swollen lymph nodes because the doctors I've seent his month have checked and said no. Any idea?
Avatar n tn An enlarged thyroid, known as goiter, is often a sign of thyroid disease. Because an enlarged thyroid can indicate a number of different conditions, including thyroid cancer, one should consult a physician for an examination. While goiters are typically a thyroid disease symptom indicating either hyper- or hypothyroidism, they can also be the result of a nutritional deficiency, a lack of iodine in the diet.
