For the past six years I have been batteling with fungal infections (feet, ears, groin) and just recently I have been diagnosed with an infection on my penis and my hands after having had to take some antibiotics. This whole mess started when I was on Enbrel (I stopped taking that) to treat my psoriasis. I know that I don't have HIV since I already got tested for that (fairly recent too).
I've been on Enbrel for almost 9 years. I've recently been developing tremors in my hands, cheeks (when I smile), and tongue. Talked to my rheumy. He doesn't think it's the Enbrel, but I am growing more concerned. They're not bad, but they do seem to be progressing.
I've been on enbrel for about 5yrs for RA and also developed respitory problems. I coughed for 6 months and had every test possible. No diagnosis proved true. I even had surgery to remove swollen lymphnodes in my chest, which were deemed hyperplastic. Whats left from the illness is a once-a-day wheeze attack. I stopped taking enbrel for the past month and feel like sh*t. Heading back to the DR. soon.
I have had two shots of Humira, I constantly have sinus issues, pain pressure, teeth hurt and hedaches. I got them on enbrel and after 9 years it quit working, so tired remicade but after 4 infusions I had such a bad insus probelm I quit it also raised my blood pressrue a lot. I don't seem to be able to handle hard core antibidoics so I can take zpack, and it helps, but I always seem to be back on it alteast every two months.
m convinced that there is a correlation between these things and the Enbrel. Have any other Enbrel users been diagnosed with any of these inflammatory diseases? My gut feeling is that the Enbrel truly is the cause, but it has worked so well on my joints, I'm hesitant to try anything else. My Rheumatologist is going to argue with me about my hypothesis, but I know my body. Can anyone give some insight?
I'm in the same vote. On enbrel and have developed hpv. Very tiny bumps if even noticeable at all, but its been spreading. Aldara only made my psoriasis and psa flare up. I guess the next thing is to stop enbrel till my hpv clears up? I am 29, male, non smoker. Enbrel is the only med I take.
My problem is that when I get off Enbrel, every joint in my body swells, turns red, hurts unbearably and locks up. I become completely bedridden and cannot get dressed or go to the bathroom without help. My blood tests show that, even with the Enbrel, my c reactives and other immune response numbers are very high. They tell me that they will give me prednisone to help with the reaction.
In July I did have a fungal infection in my mouth and throat; my doc suspects it was opportunistic and I have been immuno compromised.
We still don't know what the black gunk is that I'm coughing up, and I've had black gunk in my ear too. I tested negative for TB, and and I'm waiting to get a CT scan on my neck (and head) to see what the lump on my larynx is.
Meanwhile I am on an antibiotic to kill this sinus infection.
After several ear drops of various kinds an ENT prescribed nystatin cream rather than drops for a fungal infection that I have had off and on for about a year. Although the cream is awkward to put into ear canal with a Q tip, then have to kind of press down on the ear to get it to go deeper in (ask your doctor regarding this maneuver), it seems to be working. Once I was able to get the cream to go deeper into the canal, the discomfort from the fungi is subsiding.

I've had on-going issues with a irritations and related burning sensations on scrotum, leg creases and anal region since early July. Also a diagnosed/treated e-coli UTI and a 2 weel oral fungal infection treatment. It's been a struggle determining the source and cleaning it up.
Right sided numbness and weakness after the 3nd dose of enbrel. Unchanged in 9 weeks?
Never had the cough or metal taste during the time I used Reumofan. I am not back on Enbrel, and not happy about it. I take say 15mg, 1x weekly...or something like that. Just enough to take the edge off. Reumotolgist approved this dosage.
About a month off Reumofan, Dr wanted to check my blood just to see if there were any steroid use indicated. I gained 15# and I never gain weight. Blood tests came back negative for anything.
I have been having yeast infections for the last 2 yeast off and on, been to many docs and still cant get them to stay away. I have been on flygal, diflucan, creams and all why do they keep comeing back what can i do to keep them away? PLEASE HELP!

Yes fungal infections causing angular cheilitis can cause inflammation and burning and itching at the genitalia also.But for that pls use some antifungal like nystatin, miconazole, tolnaftate, terbinafine,ketaconazole and clotrimazole.You can consult a pharmacist and get any cream or lotion containing these ingredients. Some of them are Lamisil, Monistat derm, Mycelex, and Nizoral.
If the symptoms persist then STD’s have to be ruled out.
fungus likes moist damp areas which is why the most common fungal infections occur between the toes and in the groin area. by leaving your dentures in and not properly caring for them .you have made a perfect breeding ground. did you tell your dentist of your lack of hygiene? diabetics tend to have more yeast infections so you might want to check that out too. good luck and this time follow your dentists instructions!
Thanks smittygirl. I was on the fence with this decision but leaning in the same direction as your perspective. Sunday, today, is my injection day. I've had the p.i. for a week, and it seems to be clearing up despite the Enbrel. So like you, I agree; I'd rather itch a little, then have the chest-wall pain (my main symtom). BTW... good luck with AS. Prior to joining this forum, I read some of the past posts, and yours came forward as a real success story.
