Elidel ingestion

Common Questions and Answers about Elidel ingestion

elidel

Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with atopic dermatitis by a dermatologist and precribed Elidel or (pimecrolimus cream). I was told that Elidel does not have the side effects associated with topical steroid creams such as skin thinning and discoloration. This was necessary since the area affected is right on the skin around the meatus of my penis. Anyways, I used the Elidel for almost 12 days (twice a day) without any significant results, so I stopped.
Avatar m tn I saw my ENT doc which is very good and he notices I have redness on my face (cheeks), he recommended me to try Elidel. Today I am using Rozex and it helps and prevent Flares but still there is some redness. I am now 6 weeks post EOT, UND and hope to stay UND. Someone has experience with Elidel ? Can it cause any problem to the liver or to the treatement ?
Avatar f tn After a month i broke out with atopic dermatitis again but this time it was red itchy bumps so she gave me elidel to use for 3 and a half months.. Whenever i stop elidel there are itchy pimple like rash on my cheeks with a little whithead that is tiny but oozes fluid! Is that a withdrawal from elidel?!!
Avatar m tn Okay thanks, so then how long would you expect it to normally take for EpiCeram to work and completely clear the dermatitis, before I should turn to the Elidel? How about the Elidel?
Avatar m tn It seems as though my condition has improved somewhat, but not completely and I am wondering whether or not I should try the Elidel now since I want to get this resolved faster! So I want to know if Elidel is really safe for the penis skin, since on the instructions it says not to get in eyes, vagina, mouth or rectum. Okay, so what happens if some gets down into my urethra since the area I am treating is right on my meatus (skin at pee-hole opening)?
Avatar n tn Okay, I know what Elidel is and that it is a non-steroidal treatment to dermatitis. However, I want to know if it thins the skin at all, to any extent? I read on the internet from multiple websites, that TCI's do not cause skin thinning or the side effects associated with steroid ointments, which is why it's usually used. However, one website stated that Elidel does not thin the skin "as much as" steroid creams do! So which is it for sure?
Avatar n tn I have read that Elidel can possibly help to reverse skin atrophy, and definitely does not cause any itself. Is this true, & how so? If not, then what effect would Elidel have on thin skin that has suffered atrophy from the use of strong topical steroid creams?
Avatar m tn thank you both I do remember getting the UVB narrowband before while I was taking the Elidel, for some reason I had stopped taking the Elidel and now I'm taking it again but I haven't had the UVB lately, I will ask them to use both of them again b/c my skin cleared up a lil bit when they did both.
Avatar n tn I was recently diagnosed with dermatitis by a local dermatologist and he prescribed me a topical medication called "Elidel", since he didn't think steroid creams were appropriate for the area of body that I am treating which has thin skin. Anyways, I have been using the Elidel for about 10 days now, and have NOT seen any noticable difference in my skin condition.
Avatar n tn When using Elidel, a TCI, commonly used to treat eczema or dermatitis; how long should it take (using twice a day) to start seeing results? I used this for 12 consecutive days with no improvement in my skin discoloration or tenderness, & I was using it on naturally thin skin to treat what I thought was dermatitis. I have heard that it takes longer for Elidel to take effect compared to a low strength steroid cream, but exactly how long should you use it for, without noticing any improvement?
Avatar n tn Dr. HHH, I posted several months ago about my concern with topical Elidel and it possibly supressing my immune system so that the OraQuick test wouldn't detect anti-bodies. I tested 3,4,8 months out with the rapid oraquick swab. I also had my doctor do a blood draw and tested EIA 6 months after possible exposure. All test were negative.
Avatar n tn I previously used Elidel 1% twice daily for two weeks on sensitive skin. I know what Elidel is and that it's an alternative to steroid creams for treatment of dermatitis & that is why I tried it. When I saw NO results after two weeks, I figured it wasn't going to help so discontinued using it. I want to know if that was too long to use without seeing any improvement (could it have done any harm)?
Avatar m tn My question is 1) I don’t know if I have skin cancer, because of the overuse of elidel(pimecrolimus1%, recently I also found out that elidel should not be used for more than a month or so, because of the chances of skin cancer. I used it for more than a year. I might have used it 50 to 60 times so far. I always have had this anal problem and the scalp problem, from almost ten years now. I don’t know about the other medicines over usage, the doctor never told me.

Avatar m tn I’ve been using Elidel Cream for several months on my face. I have been diagnosed with Rosacea and Seborrheic Dermatitis. I am concerned about using this cream long term. I have been trying to wean myself from the cream. Using ever other day and then every 2-3 days. I haven’t used the cream for 5-6 days and today my face is extremely red and bumpy. This is the worse it has ever looked. Is there a way to get off of Elidel and not have this redness.
Avatar n tn A couple years ago a dermatologist prescribed Elidel and gave me a sample. I used the sample and it worked pretty well - the only thing that has worked. However I did not go and get the prescription because I did some research on Elidel and found that it was related to some cases of cancer. I would really like to use it, or an alternative, but I am worried about the risk of cancer directly related to Elidel.
Avatar n tn I was OK with my test results until I read that Elidel was chemically similiar to tacrolimus a calcineurin inhibitor that is used in transplant patients. I test orally via the OraQuick test 3,4,5, and 8 months out. All negative. I also had a 6 month blood EIA test done through Quest labs with a non-reactive result. My questions are as follows: 1. Given the length of time I have been using Elidel do you think it could have prevented my body from developing antibodies to HIV.
Avatar n tn What effect would two weeks use of Elidel have on normal skin on the head of the penis? I mean would it do any harm if used on thin skin with no actual dermatitis present; if so, then what would happen?
Avatar n tn I want to know if two weeks is considered long-term or short-term use associated with the use of TCI's, specifically "Elidel"? I used Elidel for about 12 days in a row & I'm now concerned as to whether that was too long to safely use considering the warnings on it regarding long-term use. So is 2 weeks considered a short-term use with this topical medication, or what exactly is "short-term use" defined as?

Avatar m tn My question here is that 1) I don’t know if I have skin cancer, because of the over use of elidel. Very recently I also found out that elidel should not be used for more than a month or so, because of the chances of skin cancer. I am using it for more than a year now. Avatar n tn I had used Elidel or "Pimecrolimus cream" for about 12 days (twice a day) as prescribed by a local dermatologist for dermatitis on an area of my body with naturally thin skin. After nearly two weeks use I saw no improvement, yet my condition did not seem to worsen either. Therefore, I stopped using and met with my doctor; who didn't seem concerned about it and basically said it wouldn't have done any harm.
Avatar n tn First of all that is not a topical treatment! I'm talking about an ointment or cream that helps reverse the effects of atrophy caused by the use of a potent steroid cream. I used Diprosone cream for 5 days(twice daily) & then a year later after minimal recovery I used Elidel (a non-steroid cream) for about 12 days(twice daily) both on the same spot on my penis glands! So what kind of damage would this have likely done & what can I use to help the skin return to normal again?
Avatar n tn How many days or weeks should it take to seen an effect with Elidel on thin skin with dermatitis? I used for nearly two weeks (12 days exactly) without any improvement for my so called "dermatitis" diagnosis by a dermatologist. Now I am concerned that I shouldn't have used it for that long without seeing results! Was this too long for me to use Elidel if dermatitis is not really what I have; and if so, what could have this done in terms of damage to normal skin?
Avatar n tn I have to keep a cream on the sore areas all the time because if the area dries out the pain is terrible. Do you think a cream like Elidel would work? Do you have any suggestions to help me? What can I do to Help this at home? What is the best treatment for vaginal eczema? please help..
