Elidel and seborrheic dermatitis

Common Questions and Answers about Elidel and seborrheic dermatitis

elidel

Avatar m tn I have Rosacea and seborrheic dermatitis also. But Elidel is for Eczema not Rosacea. Maybe he was using it off label for you? It does have some long term potential side effects. I would get another opinion. You may be getting rebound from going off of it. I am not sure if this drug does that. Cortisone definitely does. I use azaleic acid topical. It has worked for me for a long time. It is a prescription. You can also try low dose Doxycycline.
Avatar f tn Hello, From the symptoms and pictures it looks like perioral dermatitis and seborrheic dermatitis on the forehead. Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp. under the nose or anywhere on face. My sincere advice is to consult a dermatologist and get it evaluated. Diagnosis has to be confirmed first.
Avatar n tn A couple years ago a dermatologist prescribed Elidel and gave me a sample. I used the sample and it worked pretty well - the only thing that has worked. However I did not go and get the prescription because I did some research on Elidel and found that it was related to some cases of cancer. I would really like to use it, or an alternative, but I am worried about the risk of cancer directly related to Elidel.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed by several dermatologists as having seborrheic dermatitis so I use TGEL shampoo and cetaphil gentle skin cleanser. Recently I stopped using moisturizers because my skin seemed too oily and voila my skin looks very good (my blepharitis also cleared up as soon as I stopped using treatments). However my extremely flaky/seemingly dry lips remain.
Avatar m tn the most common symptoms of atopic dermatitis are dry, itchy, red skin and seborrheic dermatitis causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas. My sincere advice is to get a biopsy skin done from a dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn The severity of seborrheic dermatitis can be lessened by controlling the risk factors and by proper skin care. Over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos is usually indicated for the flaking. However, shampoos or lotions containing selenium, ketoconazole, or corticosteroids may be prescribed for severe cases. To apply shampoos, part the hair into small sections, apply to a small area at a time, and massage into the skin. Support groups, local or on-line, may also help.
Avatar f tn Last december i have a patch on my face and the doctor told me i have atopic dermatitis and gave me cutivate! After 2 months of not having it , i developed some kind of heat rash and the doc told me to use cutivate again ! After a month i broke out with atopic dermatitis again but this time it was red itchy bumps so she gave me elidel to use for 3 and a half months.. Whenever i stop elidel there are itchy pimple like rash on my cheeks with a little whithead that is tiny but oozes fluid!
Avatar m tn Okay thanks, so then how long would you expect it to normally take for EpiCeram to work and completely clear the dermatitis, before I should turn to the Elidel? How about the Elidel?
Avatar n tn Hi, I have been getting electrolysis on my face and have recently been diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if the Seborrheic dermatitis may have been caused by the damaging of the hair follicles. I have very mild seb derm but it flares up about four days after an electrolysis session on my face. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar m tn Hello, It looks like seborrheic dermatitis. Seborrhoeic Dermatitis is believed to be an inflammatory reaction related to the proliferation of normal skin habitant Malassezia – a yeast, which produces toxic substances that infect and irate the skin. The disease is neither contagious nor related with diet but it may be aggravated by other illness like Psychological stress, immune compromised patients, neurological diseases like Parkinsonism and stroke.
Avatar f tn I have never had any issues with my skin and I have read that seborrheic dermatitis is strongly related to HIV, i also have red eyes and frequent migraines. When do HIV patients start developing seborrheic dermatitis? What other symptoms are developed with it? When performing my last test alcohol was not completely dry on my finger + the final reading was before the 20 minutes mark set by the manufacturer.
Avatar f tn Hence if your child is school going then it is unlikely to be seborrheic dermatitis. However it is often hereditary and if you have been diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis, then your child carries the risk of having it in future life during adulthood. Moreover it causes redness and inflammation of skin with yellow patches or red, greasy skin covered with flaky white or yellow scales. Hence it is unlikely to be seborrheic dermatitis in your child’s case but confirmation needs to be done.
Avatar n tn if someone has seborrheic dermatitis around his lips and chin, does it means he has HIV, or is seborrheic dermatitis a normal skin condition that affect many people.
Avatar n tn Okay, I know what Elidel is and that it is a non-steroidal treatment to dermatitis. However, I want to know if it thins the skin at all, to any extent? I read on the internet from multiple websites, that TCI's do not cause skin thinning or the side effects associated with steroid ointments, which is why it's usually used. However, one website stated that Elidel does not thin the skin "as much as" steroid creams do! So which is it for sure?
Avatar n tn Everyone I see always asks me what it is, and it is very embarrassing. I did some research, and it looks and sounds a lot like seborrheic dermatitis. I know there is no cure, but is there any way I can at least make it less noticeable? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance. (BTW: I am 17 years old and I have VERY sensitive skin.
Avatar m tn I was told by my dermo that I had Seborrheic dermatitis. It was dry itchy and scaly under my beard, in the nose folds, ears and eyebrows. I was given desonate gel to use for 2 weeks and things calmed down. However now I just have a redness itchy forehead. I put moisture cream o it and it doesnt really help. Is this still donsidered Seborrheic dermatitis? And would the desonate gel still be the right rx to use?

Avatar n tn It is now several years later and SD is still with me off and on and I never had it before the encounter and I am experiencing no other symptoms. I have also had anxiety ever since the encounter and have gained 20lbs. When during the course of HIV infection when does SD usually occur? My dermatologist says my SD is very mild and that it does not seem worriesome but is really starting to stress me out because I never had it before.
Avatar n tn t have used it for that long without seeing results! Was this too long for me to use Elidel if dermatitis is not really what I have; and if so, what could have this done in terms of damage to normal skin?
Avatar n tn What effect would two weeks use of Elidel have on normal skin on the head of the penis? I mean would it do any harm if used on thin skin with no actual dermatitis present; if so, then what would happen?
Avatar n tn Differentials for scalp problems may include seborrheic dermatitis , tinea capitis and discoid lupus. These are just differentials and these may need to be excluded especially when this has been present for quite sometime.
Avatar n tn I was recently diagnosed with dermatitis by a local dermatologist and he prescribed me a topical medication called "Elidel", since he didn't think steroid creams were appropriate for the area of body that I am treating which has thin skin. Anyways, I have been using the Elidel for about 10 days now, and have NOT seen any noticable difference in my skin condition.
