Egg protein vs soy protein

Common Questions and Answers about Egg protein vs soy protein

protein

Avatar f tn I tried googling this earlier in my pregnancy and didn't like what I found... that none are really "good" for me or baby right now. I went with veggie & fruit smoothies and used soy milk as it had higher protein content (vs other but mills). But I want to know if anyone else has found out anything else!
Avatar f tn Well - you have got to have a liquid - so the options are water, milk, or soy/almond/rice/coconut milk. Then you have to have some source of protein. Other than protein powder, you are pretty limited. You don't want to use raw egg. You could use nuts or peanut butter. Other sources of protein such as cooked meat or fish wouldn't be particularly appetizing in a smoothie.
916516 tn?1245885188 I eat the 2 egg white and one egg and make a egg sandwich each morning w/ cheese one one slice of protein bread. Love it!
Avatar f tn One study says no more than 30 mgs of soy protein per week, another says as little as 30 mg of soy isoflavones per day can affect people with hypothyroidism. I am also having difficulty in finding how much that is (e.g. is 1 mg soy protein equal to 1 mg soy isoflavones; the articles I have found state that 30 soy isoflavones is the amount found in 5-8 ounces of soy milk which only contains 10 mg of soy protein).
Avatar f tn Well, I've searched a lot and all I've found is that L-arginine can make herpes (HSV) replicate and get worse. But I haven't found a study saying that it could be the same with HPV. I bought a protein supplement of egg protein and I've read that it has lysine and lutein which seems to have a good effect in the clearance of HPV, but it also has L-Arginine and there are mixed opinions about it... Anyone has tried it with success? Btw...
Avatar f tn I make stir fry with marinated tofu sometimes and always have light soy milk in my fridge and frozen edamame in my freezer. Whole grains are high in protein too. Whenever you buy cereals, pasta and bread, just look for whole grain varities. Same thing as legumes, you'll get the benefit of a higher fiber content also. You can also buy a good protein powder and make yourself a shake for breakfast or before a workout.
Avatar f tn m on a very strict nutritional program and typically eat two (6 ounce) servings of meat (chicken breast or eye of round) and 1-2 whey protein shakes per day. Different things I've read says that meat is to be limited to 5 ounces per day and no whey. Does anyone have any information on how our protein levels are reached with these limitations? I cannot eat nuts and one can only eat so many egg whites in a day.
Avatar f tn 8. Soy Milk Soy milk is another vegetarian food choice that is high in protein. At about 7 grams of protein per 8 ounces of soy-milk, adding this drink to any diet will help reach the daily amount of protein needed by an individual. 9. Dried Apricots Although at the bottom of the list, dried apricots are also an option that is high in protein. An 8 ounce serving of this dried fruit provides 5 grams of protein.
Avatar m tn What you need to do is research the forms of protein. Some soy protein is quite bad for people, some is quite good. Depends on the form. Same with whey. For building muscle, some prefer egg protein, but most seem to like the whey. Organic is great, but when you're isolating something down to the protein, it's more important it be done correctly. An organic product that uses the wrong kind of method of isolating the protein isn't going to be very helpful.
Avatar f tn m a vegetarian so I get my protein from tofu and other foods made from soy, beans, nuts, and dairy products. You don't know all the ingredients in the protein powder so I'd ask my doctor about it.
9990306 tn?1407113138 t need animal foods to get protein -- nuts, seeds, and beans are all excellent sources of protein. Soy is the most complete of vegetable proteins that you can make a lot of things with, but any bean combined with a whole grain usually gives you a pretty complete protein. You don't need a protein shake, nobody does, for proper health -- shakes are either a shortcut for people in a hurry or for people trying to add lean muscle. Otherwise, you should get plenty from your regular meals.
Avatar f tn on average, americans over-consume protein by 2-3 times the necessary amount. protein is readily available to vegans through beans (especially soy beans) and other legumes/lentils, nuts, peanut butter, oatmeal, tofu, peas, wheat flour, and almost all vegetables have somewhere between 1-5 grams of protein. the list goes on and on. for calcium, the darker green, the better.
Avatar f tn I was told though to make sure not to do alot of soy protein though since it can effect your hormones and the babies hormones. Also, avoid artificial sweeteners.
Avatar n tn Thanks!....So how about egg protein based shakes..Are eggs considered dairy products?
7177914 tn?1399518500 What are some foods that are high in protein besides chicken and beef? This pregnancy meat isnt sitting real well with me and I'm wondering if my lack of protein could be why I continuously keep getting sick... I've heard salmon, brussel sprouts, both I love, beans which I'm not a fan of... any other ideas lovlies?? I'm also hoping if I get more protein maybe I won't constantly feel like I haven't eaten in days... lol TIA!!!
Avatar f tn tofu, soy milk, soy yogurt, soy pudding, and soy ice cream. Incomplete proteins you need to combine foods such as beans and rice, pasta with vegetables, peanut butter and bread, nuts in salad, and beans with pasta. You can try any of the above to get protein in her for each meal. Milkshakes (milk, fresh fruit, and ice cream) are also good for extra protein too.
Avatar f tn soy is a controvercy that will always be there. Many leading health writers now say its bad for the whole body, yet many still support it. Its though to steer away from it if you have thyroid issues. Its used in Asia for centuries in food, but the difference apparently is fermentation....... or not, and how much you are consuming.
Avatar f tn All items were Soy Protein. Is it possible that this can be a cause of my not getting pregnant? I am wondering how true the article was. Thank you.
Avatar m tn After struggling with on and off constipation I had put her on soy milk at the age of 4. Now, about 4 months later since I put her on soy milk I learned of the high estrogen content. I am concerned about this and wish to remove her from soy and try almond milk (she has no tree nut allergies). My concern is almond milk has very little protein. What should I give her to provide her with enough protein that cow's milk has? Do I give her protein pills?
Avatar n tn My midwife said to have it. Soy is not got andthats in protein stuff but Iif it says soy protein isolate thats okay.
Avatar f tn Soy is known to cause stomach problems maybe stop and see if the pain subsides
4744855 tn?1358656623 Personally I would not recommend any shakes. It is best to increase protein intake through cereals, oats, lean cut of meats and egg whites. You can opt for a healthy diet and lifestyle. Exercise regularly. With time you will gain weight and a toned and fit body. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
Avatar f tn t do soy protein. Soy has estrogen in it.
