Egg protein casein

Common Questions and Answers about Egg protein casein

protein

Avatar m tn The issue your daughter may be dealing with might be an intolerance to the protein - casein - in dairy. If that's the problem, you'll have to make sure that anything she consumes does not contain casein, sodium caseinate or any other derivative of casein which is found in ALL forms of dairy from any animal. You might consider adding some protein powder to the almond milk. And make sure the almond milk doesn't contain casein - some brands do.
Avatar f tn I would ask your Dr before using whey or casein protein powder... I'm sure it wouldn't do any harm every once in a while but it'd be best to check with them first.

Avatar f tn The biggest and baddest source of casein (in my experience) is called Milk Protein Concentrate (MPC). This is basically the heroin of casein!! I read about it as my casein research linked to more and more articles. You can find these casein proteins in food that is creamy. Scientists have isolated the specific proteins that give foods a creamy, dairy-like consistency. So when people buy “fake” cheese, they are actually getting those concentrated proteins.
Avatar f tn Ensure is a little different than say whey or casein protein powder such as those used for muscle building. Ensure is very safe and a great way to get all the nutrients you need.

Avatar f tn Many people with chronic liver disease are malnourished and require adequate protein to maintain a stable body weight. A diet with adequate protein and energy is therefore recommended. I have decompensated cirrhosis and HE and know many people who are very ill and waiting for a liver transplant. When you very ill and have end-stage liver disease patients have difficulty eating and suffer from muscle wasting because they don't get enough protein.

1559857 tn?1312845930 s causing lactose intolerance BUT there seems to be a strong correlation between Celiac and casein intolerance. Lactose is the simple sugar of milk and casein is the protein of milk. It does make sense if you think about it.... If Celiac disease is an autoimmune reaction to gluten, (the protein in wheat) then it makes some sense that the protein in milk might also cause issues particularly because both proteins are literally sticky and bind in the small intestines.
Avatar f tn There are two major components in dairy - the lactose and a protein called casein. Often, when someone has a diary issue, it's automatically assumed it's lactose-intolerance when it may not be. The culprit could be the casein. If you want to find out, have your doc run a fecal antibody test for casein issues. The fecal antibody test is more accurate than the blood test which can often come up negative when in fact it should be positive. You can also do the test yourself.
Avatar m tn Consider being checked for food intolerance issues such as gluten problems. In many cases celiac disease can produce pain and large amounts of fatigue and go undiagnosed. If the 'dairy' issue isn't lactose, but an intolerance to casein (the major protein in dairy) it may also factor in. A large number of those with celiac disease cross-react to casein.
1036532 tn?1335409367 For many celiac's it's not the lactose that bothers them, it's the casein in the diary - the major protein. In addition to reacting to gluten, they cross-react to casein. You may have to discontinue dairy completely to see a change. Check with enterolab.com and look into their casein test.
Avatar f tn Mix it with milk instead of water if you want a bit more protein. Try Nitrean; it has whey isolate for quick absorption, and casein, which is digested slowly. Greek Yogurt (5.3 oz container) 15 grams protein 80 calories Greek-style yogurt Is easy to carry and packed with protein. Skip yogurts with fruit and sugar; to add flavor, drop in a few berries or nuts.
Avatar n tn For those of you that cannot even come into contact with dairy products-- I learned that white school glue, such as Elmers, is made from the milk protein casein. There should be some sort of law that companies cannot make products with the top allergens.
Avatar m tn So I figured out what was wrong.... I'm working out and taking in protein, and I take 100% casein protein shake at night. Everytime I take casein protein, my throat gets inflamed and mucus production gets put into overdrive. On days I don't take casein, I never have to clear my throat at night. So I have eliminated the casein protein, and I feel much better.
Avatar n tn Gig, gastroparesis could unfortunately be a side-effect of the fundoplication. In addition, have you checked to find out if you're cross-reactive to casein - major protein in diary? Some celiacs are and it can produce some strange side-effects.
Avatar f tn Milk has two proteins, one is casein, the other is whey. I tolerate casein ever so slightly better than whey. I discovered that I can eat a tiny bit of cheese if it is very aged like Parmesan or extra sharp cheddar because the whey is almost entirely gone - but even at that it has to be a small amount or I'm back in trouble with a nasty stomach ache (or worse) again.
Avatar f tn I was advised with my daughter to get her tested for milk allergy, casein sensitivity before changing her diet (although I did temporarily change it and had problems getting her to eat anything so I talked to her pediatrician and that's why they tested her... got a big lecture on not goign to the pediatrician first before doing anything). Her developmental pediatrician who diagnosed her with PDD also cautioned me against changing diet with consulting a doctor first.
Avatar f tn If your granddaughter is diagnosed with autism, I would like you to know that according to some research (which may or may not be known to or accepted by doctors) there can be a connection between autism and the dairy protein Casein, which cannot be properly digested by some people and can produce a by-product called casomorphines, causing problems such as autism.
290018 tn?1240365868 My son is almost 4 and is allergic to casein (milk protein) we have switched him to soy milks and casein free products. We purchased some "Tofutti" brand dairy free (and casein free) pizzas for him. I have noticed the last 2 times I have given it to him that minutes after eating he develops a rash on each side of his mouth. They first time the rash on each side was round and bright red. This time one side is rounded and the other is more of a rectangle.
Avatar f tn issue is really lactose intolerance via testing, or could be casein intolerance which is entirely different. Casein is the major protein in milk and many people think they have lactose intolerance when it's not the case at all. It could be due to casein and that produces a different reaction. Lactose problems result from not having the enzyme to digest lactose.
Avatar f tn I recommend you eat nuts or eggs and dairy products before bed. Dairy products have slow digesting protein (casein). (Remember that you need protein every 4 hours, since your body can't store it anywhere else than muscles, so your body starts breaking apart muscles if there's not enough protein available in the bloodstream. Also, you should start heavy lifting in case you already haven't) Being stressed out too much can destroy your gains and pretty much everything.
Avatar f tn If he can't drink milk, it may not be the lactose that is a problem. It could be the major protein in milk - casein. There are many who can't have ANY form of diary. So if you've noticed that is part of the problem make sure nothing has diary in it in ANY form - that means sodium caseinate, whey, etc. In addition, those who can't handle casein may also have a problem with gluten. Check to see if there's any celiac disease that runs in your family.
