577132 tn?1314266526 Having a few intestinal issues at the moment and having difficulty eating solid food. My instinct is that I should just have liquid meal replacements or protein shakes for a couple of days BUT I am not sure how that will work with the Riba absorption. I am currently forcing myself to eat something solid for breakfast and dinner so I can take my Riba but whatever I eat just goes right through me, very unpleasant.

Avatar f tn Hi All! I have PCOS (as seen in ultrasound). I'm a vegetarian, 5 feet 2 inches tall and have a wight of 52 kg. I have been married since a year and I'm planning to conceive in 2 years from now. I have read that by modifying diet one can completely reverse PCOS. I have following questions about diet: 1. Can I consume soy products? Is it suggested to consume soy products thrice every week. (I'm not sure about this.
Avatar f tn This means dropping the processed things out of your diet like chips and crackers and obviously the sugar items like cookies and such. Instead, have a piece of fruit for a snack or a hard boiled egg or protein bar. Keep your portions smaller at meal time and try to stick to lean protein, fruits and vegis. Exercise for a half hour at least 5 times a week where you get your heart rate up (where you can talk but are breathing hard). Good luck and let us know how you do!
Avatar f tn You should take a balanced and nutritious diet. There are many vitamins which can help in ovulation. Vitamin D helps in calcium absorption and regulation and normalizes the development of healthy follicles and increases chances of conception. Calcium helps in egg maturation.Vitmain B6 is useful in women who have been suffering from luteal phase defects .Vitamin C supports ovulation by stabilizing hormone levels and aids in iron absorption. It also boosts the immune system .
335728 tn?1331414412 Unless your diet is so bad it is causing malnutrition the most likely cause of low protein in your blood is poor absorption of nutrients or kidney or liver problems. Primary doctors usually do regular checks for liver function when you take statin drugs (like Lipitor) to control cholesterol. Previcid could be decreasing nutrient absorption. That is also what happens in celiac disease - or if you are gluten intolerant. Your blood calcium could be low just because your protein level is low.
Avatar f tn Dogs with kidney failure need high quality, low residue protein diets. For example, human dialysis patients often eat eggs because each egg provides 7 grams of pure protein on which the kidneys do little to no work for the body to assimilate and utilize.
1646889 tn?1301481228 T4 Binds to protein, and I beleive the portion that binds to the protein is lost, T3, although I understand does not bind to protein like T4 does, but you should still wait an hour before taking food and four hours for Vitamins, Minerals and Fiber, there are also foods out there that reduce the absorption of thyroid meds, you can google for a list.
Avatar n tn Thanks!....So how about egg protein based shakes..Are eggs considered dairy products?
979080 tn?1323433639 t take Tums, Rolaids, Gaviscon, or Mylanta type antacids with Riba because they will block absorption but Protein Pump inhibitors and H2 blockers are OK. There is even a H2 blocker that was shown to help work against the virus and II remember reading about it in Dr. Melissa Palmer's book. I can't remember which one it is right now but I will think on it. I couldn't use it for Joe because it can lower platelets and that was not OK for him.
Avatar f tn So, if your moving more and this helps- this i s helping your thyroid convert energy. So, I wonder if you ate more lean protein if this would help your blood pressure go lower as it would help your thyroid convert energy? Now, I wonder if since fiber hurts the body to convert T4, if when I ate all the " high fiber" ( gluten, etc) that my body was not able to convert the T4, so it made my thyroid go lower.
Avatar n tn Metabolism uses up energy by natural life processes such as breathing, blood circulation in the body and digestion of food. Some people have high metabolic rate while others have low metabolic rate. The people with the high metabolic rate seem to eat anything and not put on any weight, while people with low metabolic rate tend to put on weight quite easily. Exercising uses up a lot of energy and the energy that are not used are converted to body tissues. Therefore the balance is simple.

Avatar m tn Cautions According to German health authorities, sarsaparilla preparations have caused stomach irritation and temporary kidney problems. As it is known to increase the absorption of digitalis and hasten the elimination of other medications, thus changing their effective doses, sarsaparilla should not be taken by anyone on prescription medications I just bought a can of this soda pop...now i wont drink it http://www.allnatural.net/herbpages/sarsaparilla.
Avatar f tn Hi, Why don't you try having your 1/2 cup oatmeal with cream, 1 raw egg whisked in just before it's cooked, and almonds only. The fat and protein may extend the absorption and result in a lower blood sugar. You may also try (on a separate day), cooking the oatmeal in advance and then refridgerating it. Doing this is supposed to change the start into resistant starch (more slowly digestible). Then just warm it up (add cream and almonds before eating it).
360318 tn?1340393363 Nuts, though high in fat, are actually quite heart healthy and very high in protein. Beans are another good source of protein. All animal food is high in protein, with fish being high in fat but good fat. You have a lot of choices. It's not the amount of fat that's important, since most protein foods contain fat, it's the kind of fat and the variety in the diet -- eating a lot of vegetables, for example, provides the antioxidants that help prevent fat from being a problem.
