Effexor withdrawal sweating

Common Questions and Answers about Effexor withdrawal sweating

effexor

Avatar m tn I took effexor on and off for about five years, and experienced both the exccessive sweating (particularly in my legs, while sleeping), and the continued sweating after getting off the effexor. While it is highly unlikely that the sweating you are currently experiencing is posing any danger to your health, it is certainly a (sometimes debilitating) nuisance when trying to engage in day-to-day function.
Avatar f tn I went to the office which was closed, they had given me the wrong date, so I had to drastically decrease my dosage as I only had 10 - 10mg morphine pills left. During that week I was sweating and believed it was due to withdrawal. On Feb 25 I restarted my usual doses. The sweats are just as bad or worse.. They accur every 15 -20 mins everyday, more extreme at night?? I believe the morphine is not the problem as it should of stablized by now. So we wait for the results I guess.
Avatar m tn There are differing opinions on this. On the one hand, it might ease the transition.
Avatar n tn I previously experience HORRIBLE side effects from sudden withdrawal of effexor. I had palpitations, pounding heart, profuse sweating, and jerking motions of arms and legs (seizure-like). So I was off it in a month and put on Celexa. My Rx co-pay went from $48 per month to $4 at Wal-Mat. I'm a happy camper.
Avatar n tn t cover Effexor any longer) after a week long withdrawal period to get the Effexor out of my system. I have been on Paxil ever since (11yrs.) and I have only experienced the sweating issue for the past 2yrs. I had a COMPLETE hysterectomy in 2001 (age:31, 185lbs.) as well, and experienced the "hot flashes" but those dissipated rather quickly. In 2006 (age: 37, 202lbs.) I experienced chest pains and had a Heart Cath. done and everything was "normal".
Avatar n tn im on very high dosages of EFFEXor XR, Seroquel, Remeron, klonnonpin. im waking up in pools of sweat throughtout the night of my always horrible sleep.
Avatar f tn My psychiatrist put me on Effexor about a year ago. He had me taking 150 mg twice a day. At first, I thought that it was a great drug and that I finally found something to help my depression. However, about a couple weeks after I was on it, I started having horrible side effects.
Avatar f tn If the withdrawal is more than you can handle, go back to your psychiatrist, and ask him to put on the last dose that didn't give you withdrawal, and taper more slowly. Effexor is one of the most difficult to come off of, so do what you need to protect yourself. Most psychiatrists deny these withdrawals, so you have to advocate for yourself.
611559 tn?1233776445 When switching from Paxil to Effexor, I lost about 20 of the 60lbs. Effexor was given to me at 75 mg per day; then to 150 mg. of Effexor per day in a.m. A new doctor changed me to Effexor XR 300 mg. per day, taken 150 mg. twice a day. Though i lost about 20 lbs. after stopping the Paxil, the weight started going back on until i was back at 60 lbs. over normal. After some time, I felt that I was doing well mentally, and I discontinued one of my Effexor pills per day.
Avatar n tn I am experiencing every withdrawal symtom in the book. Should I carry on with this or should I take maybe half of the mirtazapine tablet ????? If I knew how long these symtoms would last I could maybe see it through.
Avatar f tn This is the third day off effexor and I am feeling shocks going through my head and body. I have this feeling of insecurity and severe depression and feel suicidal. I am going through a rough moment with family related and political issues that are very intense and feel that I am unable to function most of the time, but do have moments where there is hope. I also have severe bouts of sweating immensly to the point where my head is soaking wet and dripping.
603543 tn?1255294450 Anyone know anything about withdrawal syndrome? I think my mom has it and the drs arent being any help. My mom was takin g350mg of effexor xr a day for like 4 years, the the dr told her to just stop cold turkey and presribed another antidepressant at a low dose, I stated that this should nto be done.
Avatar n tn Actually, Effexor can be taken safely together with Lexapro. In fact many P-docs perscribe the two in combination. If your goal is to eliminate the Effexor than my suggestion would be to VERY slowly taper the Effexor down, while starting the Lexapro immidiatly. Don't rush the Effexor taper because you can take the Lexapro while reducing the Effexor. No worry about any adverse reaction between mixing the two.
Avatar m tn How long does Effexor XR withdrawal last? I understand the time frame will be different for everyone, but I'm assuming there is a general window that most people fall into? A few weeks? Months?? Some background: I've only been on anti-depressants for four months. I was first put on Zoloft while I was inpatient for an eating disorder, but it didn't seem to do anything. Two months ago I was switched to Effexor 150mg/day, as well as Neurontin 900mg/day.
Avatar f tn There are a great many posts here about withdrawing from Effexor. It is difficult to advise you because of the need to get off Effexor quickly. You may experience withdrawals for quite a time, it is different for each person. You are coming off really fast, and I wish I could help more. You do not need this when you are pregnant. If you are not working, then you will have to lie down and deal with the symptoms, but I do hope your doctor is more help.
Avatar n tn I switched from effexor to wellbutrin. I had to be on both medications at the same time for a long time because of the effexor withdrawal... it was so hard to come off the effexor, I was at the lowest dose for a very long time, 25mg, because I couldn't get off of it the withdrawal symptoms were too bad for me.
955569 tn?1255489680 You're not going to like this, but you should have tapered off, not quit cold turkey. You're just causing yourself additional misery. That being said, most get over the withdrawal within a few weeks, but for some it can be quite protracted and severe. Yours doesn't sound all that severe actually compared with many reports. Try taking a healthy dose of fish oil every day; it's said to help.
Avatar n tn I was on Effexor for 6 months and the sweating was terrible. I also gained about 20 pounds. I decided I couldn't take any more of the sweating so I just stopped taking it. BAD IDEA!!! My husband was ready to have me commited. My doctor has put me on Pristiq. And it is much better. No more sweating, thank God. It is made by the same company that makes Effexor with less sight effects. The thing with smelling like ammonia must be coming from something else.
Avatar n tn In recent years, it had been fairly well controlled as I had started on Effexor XR over 300mg years back, and by 2014 had tapered down to 75mg per day. Last year suffered some trauma in a near fatal crash, and mentally did fine in the aftermath. In any event, after leaving the hospital last August, I ended up having relapsing symptoms. I have had what I consider to be an excellent Psychiatrist for years.
Avatar m tn If it is Effexor withdrawal, what could a neurologist do about it? And if the psychatrist is right, what else could it be?
Avatar f tn Celexa does, but when I started to take it I had that problem for about 4 to 5 weeks. Has not happened again. I started taking them early summer so I went though very hot weather.
Avatar f tn I am a 36 year old single mother of three. I have been on Effexor ER for close to 8 years. I like most people had been started on Effexor due to increasing depression, anxiety and mood swings following a hysterectomy with the removal of ovaries also. (also on HRT ) I was started on 35mg for a few days then it was upped to 75mg. Over the next year it was increased to 150mg.
Avatar m tn You suffered withdrawal from missing your Effexor dose. This med should be tapered off of slowly, as should virtually all of these kind of meds. Even tapering slowly you may suffer some withdrawal. It's normal, though uncomfortable. I don't know if there's a generic for Effexor, maybe the doc will know.
Avatar m tn My doctor said I went through a common Effexor withdrawal, and I did feel better when I took my dose. From then on, I learned to communicate with my pdoc every time I wanted to or decided to go off a med. I guess almost everyone learns that lesson. Never had it when I was on Lamictal, but that only lasted for a couple of months. However, I do have same kind of vivid nightmares, waking up in extreme anxiety and terror, when the PTSD kicks in.
Avatar m tn Anyway, yes there is a way to get off Effexor without most if not all the withdrawal issues. The most effective way was to take to Effexor back up to a dose the did not give them the withdrawal side effects, that ADD 20mg of Prozac to the mix for 4 weeks. then and only then we would start slowly step down off of the Effexor 37.5mg a week until off. Then after one month more cut Prozac back to 10mg for two more weeks then go completely dry.
