Avatar f tn I recently have been weaned off of Effexor XR, which I have been on for 5 1/2 years, and have been experiencing abdominal cramping after about 3 days of being totally off the Effexor. Has anyone else experienced this?
Avatar m tn My doctor is switching me from Effexor to Lexapro. I was on 150 mg of effexor for 2-3 years and recently have been tapering off down to 50 mg. My doctor says I should start Lexapro now but I am scared to take it while taking Effexor but Effexor withdrawals are bothering me even though I am slowly tapering off. Is it safe to take SNRI (effexor) with SSRI (lexapro)? Anyone took it together?
Avatar f tn I spoke with my doctor and tapered off the dosage of effexor and started on Prozac to help with the withdrawal symptoms. I took my last 1/4 pill of 37.5 effexor 1 week ago. I have been so sick, unable to eat, drink, crying, phobic, scared, nauseated and unable to function. I am really worried about my job as I have been emotional there and unable to do my job properly. Yesturday I felt that I just couldn't get through it, drove to work but don't know how I did it.
Avatar m tn Ok thanks, I was just a bit confused by all the various bits of advice on supplements etc but I spent a bit of time last night and and narrowed it down to;- Vitamin E Omega 3 oil (Super strength) Vitamin C So i've ordered some, I'm feeling marginally better today so thats a start a suppose Cheers K
Avatar m tn I would suggest if you have them or can afford them to take omega 3 oils and even ginko. Vitamins and minerals are helpful in this case as they help put back into your body what you now lack due to the drug. Keeping busy will help. I esp. found anything I could do outside helped the most, just a good brisk walk or anything like planting flowers, working the soil. Having a pet to spend time with, perhaps taking a dog for a walk.
262802 tn?1303944876 I have heard that Omega 3 will alleviate the brain zaps. What else will? I can't function at work! I am so disoriented that I talk like I'm drunk! I get so confused and SO sleepy!! I absolutely hate this!
Avatar n tn You will need to go back on the Effexor and also add supplements containing DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) in your diet. This is an omega-3 fatty acid and helps in maintainingf essential amounts of serotonin in the brain and also elevates mood. Try never to go off any SSRIs abruptly. Withdrawal symptoms, especially after prolonged use, can be quite severe and may be quite difficult to manage. Do keep us posted on your doubts and progress.
Avatar m tn t know what myself feels like since I have been on Effexor for 5 years and Paxil 3 years prior to that. Before that I was hooked on an illegal drug to deal with depression I didn't know that I even had. Wow...anyway just want to know how long to hang in there before going back and trying to wean slower?
Avatar f tn ve never taken Effexor but have read the withdrawal is pretty bad. The Effexor needs to get out of your system first to start feeling better and you may possibly feel more depressed before the Prozac kicks in.
Avatar f tn I just want to know how long this takes. I am starting to take Omega- 3 fish oil, vitamin D and a multivitamin. Also, Ginger tea is supposed to help with the nausea, but I haven't tried that yet. I try to drink 100 oz of water a day. Positive thoughts are getting me through this also. I am strong enough to get off this awful medication!
Avatar f tn So my wonderful insurance company and walgreens combined for the best Christmas eve present ever. Couldn't fill my meds, suddenly have to mail order, walgreens can't do the override to my secondary insurance that they've done before, and I had already been out of meds one day when I went to pick up the script. SOOOOO I get a nice lovely withdrawal to deal with. I've been on 300 mg for years. I knew it was going to be a nightmare, but I didn't realize it would last so long.
Avatar m tn How long does Effexor XR withdrawal last? I understand the time frame will be different for everyone, but I'm assuming there is a general window that most people fall into? A few weeks? Months?? Some background: I've only been on anti-depressants for four months. I was first put on Zoloft while I was inpatient for an eating disorder, but it didn't seem to do anything. Two months ago I was switched to Effexor 150mg/day, as well as Neurontin 900mg/day.
Avatar m tn In looking up side effects of Effexor as well as withdrawal effects, there is no mention of hives or swollen ankles. But someone can have an effect that no one in the studies which generally include many thousands of people.have experienced. But the fact that your hives and swollen ankle have not gone away sounds highly irregular. I've gotten hives from medications in the past, which went away fairly quickly after stopping the medication.
Avatar n tn Hi, I took Paxil for years for perimenopause. Went off of it last July after switching to Cymbalta and then lexapro and Citalopram (had a bad reaction to the citalopram and stopped everything). Been doing O.K. since then cause went through menopause. Some people have horror stories about withdrawing from Paxil but I didn't and I know of at least one other person who had no problems with stopping the paxil.
Avatar f tn I've been on Effexor XR (300 mg) for about fifteen years and recently decided with my psychiatrist that I would go off it and start Wellbutrin XL. I got on the Wellbutrin (150 mg) and started tapering off the Effexor, and I was surprised at how smoothly it was going. Then I went from 75 mg of the Effexor to nothing, and within two days I felt like I was going to die. I felt nauseous, drunk and hung over at the same time, shaky, dizzy, etc.
Avatar m tn If I were to stop taking it after only being on it for 3 days should I be safe from the horrible withdrawal symptoms I keep hearing about? This is the first time I've been on anti-depressants, so the Effexor wasn't a replacement for something else. Thank you much for any input you can give me on this.
Avatar f tn I have been on Effexor 150mg for 3 years and I recently decided I want off. My doctor has me on 75mg now for 3 months. I know when it is time for the half life to be over and I am having more problems, fuzzy, sick to my stomach. In the last 2 weeks I have been counting individulal beads because I want this to be over. Now last week my ankles were swollen, hand and face. Doctor said that I am in congestive heart failure. I didn't tell him about the effexor. I am scared.
Avatar f tn i have been off effexor xr for about 3 wks. and i am having intermittent episodes of shortness of breath . i relieve these with taking several deep breaths. is this a symptom of effexor withdrawal?
