I started on Effexor 5 wks ago and was having trouble urinating and have ejaculation pain. Stopped the Efxxor after 3wks and went to Celexa. Have been on for 2wks and still have the problem. Has anyone had to strain to actually get the urine started were now i have straining pain in my groin. Plus delayed ejaculation?
Can I take Tramodol with Effexor XR, Clonazepam, Trazadone, Lunesta, Gabapentin, Hydroxyzine. I am on all these medications for clinical depression and panic/anxiety disorder.
But now I was recommended to take Tramodol for pain. Will there be a bad interaction with the drugs I just named?

My wife has situational depression, not severe clinical depression, and her doctor prescribed 75mg of effexor. Within a week she had lost her ability, we have tried numerous times. She was not warned of this possibility. We have had regular and good sex for 25 years and not once has she had a problem.before taking this she would typically have 3 or 4 in a row. Is this kind of total destruction common? Is this really the right drug for temporary situational depression?
I have severe depression, OCD and chronic anxiety. The Dr has prescribed Effexor (only 2 months ago...previously I had been on Zoloft for 2 years) for Depression, Dexamphetamine for OCD/Adhd, and Lamotrigine as a mood stabuilizer. I also have Diazapam (Valium), but I rarely need to take the valium anymore and try not to. I have chronc muscle achiness, particuraly in my upper back, spinal region, and the right side of my head and neck can be very painful and inflamed in times of stress.
I switched from effexor to wellbutrin. I had to be on both medications at the same time for a long time because of the effexor withdrawal... it was so hard to come off the effexor, I was at the lowest dose for a very long time, 25mg, because I couldn't get off of it the withdrawal symptoms were too bad for me.
Effexor is a very effective antidepressant. Many find SNRI's such as Effexor to be more effective than SSRI's such as Citalopram.
Another alternative that I have found even more effective is Pristiq. It is made by the same company that makes Effexor and is almost identical in every way.

i have been constantly suffering with urinary infection, pain on the lower side of my left abdomen, feel my tummy getting puffed up and pain unbearable. Want to often pass urine. what could be the reason? i have done an ult and they say that the urine is not flowing completely out of my bladder, some is still standing in the bladder. in the case of Effexor (Venlafaxine) it is ok to start most SSRI meds (Including Paxil) without first tapering down on the Effexor. In fact many people take Effexor along with an SSRI med as part of their treatment.
Effexor is different enough from Paxil that the odds of an adverse interaction is very uncommon. Now you would not be able to do the same with another SSRI like Zoloft, Lexapro, Prozac, ect.
I started taking 150mg of effexor last week, but now i'm feeling bad. Do I need a larger dose or smaller dose? Getting very frustrated. Have also just went from taking cymbalta and abilify to the effexor and abilify, but went off the abilify because of the weight gain. Dr wanted me to try wellbutrin and go off the effexor, but don't think it was working. Now I'm really confused on what works. When I went from Celexa to Effexor gained 30 pounds. I have finally got off of Effexor, which is very hard to get off. I'm now on Zoloft and the weight is slowly coming off.
Effexor and Zoloft are two different meds. Yes, I think it would have helped if her Dr would have weaned her off the Effexor. What she's going through is withdrawal from the Effexor. Can she ask her Dr if he has any samples of the Effexor so she can wean off of it? I'm really not sure if she can take these two meds together or not. She may have to wean and then go on the Zoloft.
been to my docs today to tell him the effexor are not working for me i'm not feeling the happy effect from them at all so hes given me fluoxetine (prozac) to take from monday as hes said from today take 75mg effexor every other day till sunday. but still carry on with my 15mg mirtazapine at night. i feel i should take both effexor and prozac together and my mirtazapine at night for at least 2 weeks then come off the effexor. what does anybody else think?
Today, he switched me from Effexor to Celexa, which is good because I was never completely happy with Effexor anyway. However, he said that I can stop the Effexor cold turkey and go straight to the Celexa. Is this correct? I always thought you had to taper off Effexor, and I know how badly it affects me if I even miss a single dose. I took my "last" Effexor today, and am supposed to replace it completely with the Celexa tomorrow. Is that advisable?
