effexor

Avatar m tn Same happened to me. My doctor put me on Viepax, after I had been on Effexor. They say it is the same. I saw another doctor in the same practice, and he put me back on Effexor. You can do the same. You just ask doctor to change your prescription. I feel so much better on Effexor. It may be the same, perhaps it is our minds telling us it is not so good, even so, the feelings are there, that is not working as well as Effexor.
Avatar n tn Hi, I live in England and my doctor gave me no choice but put me on to generic Venlafaxine. Now reading Hensley's reply, I am worried it will not help me. I was told it was exactly the same as Effexor XR. I was on Effexor XL before. I don't know what the difference is. Hensley knows so much about drugs. I know nothing, just trust my doctor to put me on one he thinks will help me. Didn't know I could ask him to put me on the proper drug not the generic.
Avatar f tn Has any of you menopausal gals(like myself) had any experiences with reduced hot flashes while using Effexor? I am on HRT now and just started Effexor for anxiety and my dr. says it works great on reducing hot flashes. If this is so maybe I will cut back on HRT for hot flashes. Thanks!
Avatar m tn My doctor has switched my medication from effexor to pristiq and I'm wondering about the withdrawals I'm going to experience ?I was on effexor for about 2 yrs . I also deal with sleep apnea and started using a mouth piece for it . I'm experiencing extreme fatigue more than usual .I don't know if this is a result from switching medications ? If u can me with this I'd really be grateful thanks !
1110049 tn?1409402144 I have found a difference in the generic form of Effexor. I have asked to be put back on Effexor, and feel much better for it. The doctors and pharmacists may not agree, but my body tells me what it feels. We are all different, and what works for one person, does not work for another. A doctor told me there is little difference in the price, but then I am lucky, as I don't have to pay. In UK under 16s and over 60s do not pay for their medication. One good thing about the NHS.
433485 tn?1321813390 Today I thought I took my meds, but looked at my pill case and saw that I hadn't. I had woken up with anxiety ( I take my pills at 4 am when I wake up then go back to sleep until 5. I woke up with much anxiety then checked and saw I had not taken my pills. First time this has happened.
Avatar f tn Next time you see doctor for a prescription make sure they put Effexor and not Venlafaxine on it. That way you will get brand Effexor. One doctor I saw was very reluctant to do that, but I insisted, and he could not refuse. I certainly noticed a huge difference in Effexor and the generic form. When I was withdrawing I did have to go onto the generic as it comes in tablet form which I could then cut up. Hope you can get the real Effexor, and I am glad you are feeling so much better on it.
Avatar m tn I have been taking 300 mg Effexor ER and am experiencing severe insomnia. I dropped the dosage to 150 a week ago with no improvement. Today I took 75 mg. If the insomnia IS being caused by Effexor ER, when can I expect the dosage changes to help my insomnia? Getting desperate ...
Avatar n tn 75mg's a relative low dose as the options for increase depend significantly upon where in the world you live. I'm on 375mg which is max in the UK. Speak with your GP or psych about what you would like to do as i'm sure that they'd support you with what you may want.
11318065 tn?1462984479 I am starting my weaning from effexor tomorrow. After all I have read I am a bit nervous about it! Im currently on 225mg and going to 187.5mg tomorrow. Ive recently detoxed from vicoden and I want to try to get off the effexor too just to see what I really feel like!!! I can say that my pain that I originally started the vicoden for has all but gone away! Still some aching in my back but nothing like it was while I was on them!
Avatar f tn Hi, I take Tramadol for my chronic back pain. Initially my pain Dr. did not want to prescribe Tramadol for me since I take Effexor for depression. But after taking so many pain meds, and needing to try a new one, he agreed to let me try Tramadol slowly. The Tramadol has worked well for me, and luckily I didn't have any problems with the combination of drugs. Actually the Tramadol has really helped my mood ( I think because of the snri). So I have started to taper off the Effexor.
Avatar f tn Hello, I live in the UK too. I am on Effexor, and it is the first anti-depressant I have been on that makes me gain weight. Have you looked up on -line to see what it says about certain medications? Mind you, Effexor also says you can lose weight. I think it depends on the individual. I am sure there are other people on here who may have taken anti-depressants and had weight loss. I know if you ask doctor, they are no help. I suppose they are not interested if we gain weight.
Avatar f tn been off effexor 8 days first 6 barley able to move off sofa. Few of the things i went through brain zaps also in hands and feet absolutly relenless dizziness nausea feeling tearful pain in every part of my body from my head and teeth to the tips of my toes. Feeling of total rage which is something i have never experianced in my life. Feeling of what is the point of carring on.
Avatar m tn really wondering what my options are now as been on effexor / venlafaxine now for 8 1/2 weeks up to 225mg and continue to feel depressed, avoidant and socially quiet which is not the person i am. Contniue to take mirtzapine 45mg and 5-HTP but considering dumping these or / and further augementation stragegies. Anybody have any good experiences with Lithium ornate as an additional supplement or with Lithium carbonate itself for treatment resistent depression??
Avatar f tn I had anxiety which got treated with effexor xr. I was on effexor for two years normal. I went to my psych and said that I am normal taper of seroxat and I want to be medicine free. He suggested me not to do that. On my request again and again he tapered off effexor. Last month I was on 50mg effecor and suddenly started to get all the anxiety symptoms back. The doctor put me on Zoloft 50 mg 2 tab day and 2 tabs evening starting from one tab and tappering off effexor plan.
Avatar m tn I was taking 300mg of Effexor XR and then an additional 50mg of Effexor. How much longer am I going to be feeling like this? I am really not sure if I can handle being without the medications, but at the same time I can't handle being on it either. What can I do?
Avatar m tn Hi there, been going through various medication regimes now for the last 3 years after me depression 'insidiously' crept up on me to the extent that all the nicer part of me was gone and that was just getting by, carefully avoiding being 'out in the open' and retreating into myself.
370801 tn?1264405018 s the winter blues or my recent move to this dreary climate (London UK) but I have been feeling the physical and mental / emotional symptoms of my depression return and worsen. To the point of just wanting to hide in my room and not see anybody. So, I went back on my wellbutrin xl, which is what I was taking before.. It has only been a few days.. today is the first day where that initial "high" has sort of seemed to cease. And I woke up feeling a bit dreary again and down.
Avatar f tn I've been on and off antidepressants for years and nothing seems to be working. My doctor finally suggested effexor. I've been on it for little over 5 months and am having problems. I can no long function from day to day. I feel a pulse in my head and have blured/jumpy vision. I can only walk a short length before i get dizzy and cant see straight enough that i have to sit down. My vision bounces all over the place even when i sit. The only thing that seems to help is if i eat.
Avatar f tn Were you tapered off the Effexor with the help of your doctor? Was it done over a period of time? If not, that's why you felt so lousy. These meds should be slowly tapered, under the guidance of your doctor. The good news is, the w/d symptoms will eventually resolve. The bad news is, usually, after stopping any antidepressant, or anti-anxiety med, is the likelihood of the return of the initial symptoms, which it sounds like you're experiencing.
Avatar f tn I have been off Effexor for about 5 months now. I stopped cold-turkey per my doctor's instruction (BIG mistake!). I thought once I was over the initial withdrawal, I would be fine; BUT I only had a couple weeks of feeling o.k. before I started experiencing all sorts of problems. I started with muscle weakness and pain in my calves and stomach pain directly below my rib cage. It then progressed to my arms and now my voice is even weak. Everything is bilateral.
1110049 tn?1409402144 When I saw a different doctor he put me on 150mg of Effexor XL, which again only available in UK. That was three weeks ago, and since then my anxiety and panic attacks have gone. It must be a result of the medication. I was on the same drug for two years, but stopped taking it for a year. That was a silly thing to do, as I was doing so well. Just shows just because you think you are better, it is often the medication that is keeping you stable.
1110049 tn?1409402144 It is now just over a week since I began the alternate days of 150mg Effexor and 75mg Effexor. Today just a little dizzy and have a headache, otherwise, so far so good.
Avatar f tn hi i am in the uk and my psychiatrist is unwilling to prescribe clonazepam. its the only thing that helps me with my anxiety. is it really that unsafe to take it for a long time? i read on other forums that people take it for years.
